Is Wyre Bash still relevant as a mod manager?

Most of us have our own person bias as to our favorite mod manager, usually depending on which we are most comfortable with, and that's fine ^.^

I remember Wyre Bash served me well in Oblivion, and it seemed like the elite mod manager xD

I don't hear about many people using it in Skyrim over MO or NMM, but I wonder: is it still relevant as a go-to mod manager?

Of Course it is, bashed patch? You know it?

Wrye bash is perfectly fine as a mod manager, but a lot of people prefer Mod Organiser since it utilises a much more cleaner way of modding Skyrim through virtual files. Wrye Bash is still needed to make a Bashed patch, so that all leveled lists are merged to prevent any conflicts, so yeah it still is useful for that reason alone.

I have a question, sorry for hijacking this thread.

I have wyre bash, but it's telling me (for Skyrim) that I have too many mods and I need to ghost...whatever that is.  Is this necessary?

Also, does anyone happen to know how to merge plugins?  I heard that as a suggestion.

My Skyrim is a bit unstable right now.  XD  I catalog shop in mod workshops too much.

As others have said, if it's just plugin merging there are other tools for that and MO can do what Wrye does and more, so it's not needed for Skyrim. Nothing stops you from using it though if you want.

You use Mator's Merge for the job. Did just that to several year's worth of UNP armor and clothing.

I tried, but it said they were not contiguous...which I have no clue what that's about, and that some had dependencies.

I made a Tes5Merge but not sure if that's good enough or not.

Merging stuff can be problematic if done wrong. It's best to not merge some things like script mods. I suggest reading any documentation you can find online.

Outfits are a good thing to merge. I personally use profiles in MO for differnt types of playthroughs and my modlist never gets heavy so I just use Wrye Bash for its Bashed Patch which is pretty safe.

Never used it as a mod manager, use it all the time to make a bashed patch and check for any missing dependancies though :) also it has a mod checker for looking for undeleted master records which is much quicker to detect than running tes5edit all the time, with wyre bash you can check in a few second and then go to tes5edit if cleaning is required

You can just ignore that warning. Nothing harmful.

If you expect to do any advanced remodding MO is mandatory.

Fixed it for you.

You have to place the plugins you want to merge with it in successive order at the end of your load order. That will create a continous string to avoid conflicting masters and will let you bash them into one patch. The documentary also gives you all the help you need, so reading it is a good start if you need a guide for it.

Since when could you make a bashed patch with just MO?

As a mod manager? No.

As a tool to be used with skyrim modding? It's essential for 250+ mod games.

I use both, MO as a mod organizer and run Wrye through MO when I need to generate a patch.

I never said you can make bashed patches with just MO. My point was that you don't need Wrye Bash for anything when playing Skyrim. There's Merge Plugins which can do much the same utility function with a much less confusing UI, and you'd be hard pressed to find BAIN packed mods for it too, unlike with Oblivion which is a lot older game.
