I talked about Common Clothes and Armors because that mod replaces some vanilla clothes with other from its mods. So it was preventing me to actually get the vanilla outfit during this quest, Julienne was giving me custom outfits instead of the vanilla one.

 

It looks like, at some point during runtime, an Object List called JulClothes is created in the quest data for bd_db_var and filled with whatever Julienne happens to be wearing.  Her default outfit is the 6c1d9 vanilla farmer clothes, but the script does not check to be sure, and the dialog does a formID comparison so it requires that exact formID.  Thus, if any mod happens to change Julienne's default outfit or equips anything on her before the script grabs her equipment and shoves it into the list, the player will be given invalid clothing to wear.

 

Furthermore, once the list has been created in the quest data, it will no longer be updated.  This means that if someone is playing in such a way that invalid armor references have been written into the list, the only way to fix the error is to reload a save prior to the list being populated.  The list cannot be changed - to my knowledge - via the console and it will not be updated if the mod which added the invalid data is deleted or modified.  The bug can be fixed, however, using the console command I mentioned in the previous post.

 

This is a very odd method of giving items to the player.  The script should be updated to not use the list and instead simply grant the items by formID.

From state 200, it looks like you're supposed to wait for Tasius to approach you and tell you that he's gotten things prepared.  Not entirely sure.

A Door is a type of Activator that teleports the player to a targeted Marker.  Normally, there should never be a case when it fails to work correctly when activated.  In this case, however, there is a script (bd_default_BlockActivation_SC) attached to the door that disables activation when the door is first loaded.  Hypothetically, some other script will re-enable activation under the right conditions.  In reality, it appears as though you can disable the door by simply saving and reloading which will cause the block script to re-run.  Unless some other script correctly and regularly turns the door back on, it will not work.

 

Why the script was attached to the Door object is probably to prevent the player from entering too quickly and skipping the intro scene where she thinks about the house, which might cause issues with the quest state machines.  However, there is probably a more elegant solution to the problem that won't cause issues like this.

I just redownloaded on a clean install of skyrim started a new playthrough but my game crashes every 5 minutes when I enable the mod. I have all the required mods and it's only when the thief mod is enabled that the game crashes so much, does anyone have a fix?

sometimes crashes on a new install is caused by SOS's dll, because of the change in load order. But usually the crashes happens as soon as you load a save. If you are playing on AE, also keep in mind that the mod is meant to be played on version 1.5.97 (SE)

I'm playing on legendary edition. If it is SOS's dll how do I fix it?

Normally you just need to start a new save game. If in a existing save game, you should remove the dll and see if the crashes stop. If it doesn't, then the problem is elsewhere. But I'm not sure if that bug exists on Legendary Edition, I assumed you were playing on SE.

Did you ever figure out what mod was causing the problem? I'm having the same problem with CTD whenever I exit Gnisis and the crash log is pointing to something with "bd_liorel_head" a lot. I do have several hair mods.

It looks like my problem has more to do with missing morphs. When I try to open Liorel in creation kit, I get about 30 pop-ups almost identical to this for various expressions.

Error is probably just due to the face .nif files being in the BSA archive.

This version of Thief doesn't have a BSA. I think Ghostseyru160 was right though. I wiped out the non-essential hair mods and the game made it past Gnisis without crashing. 

I narrowed the problem down to "VHR - Vanilla Hair Replacer". Apparently they're doing some weird "patch-less" thing with that mod. So it's not like the regular plug-n-player hair mods. Phew. Thought I'd never track that one down.

Hey did someone had and managed to solve the problem with Hlar? When getting the hood from him he asks heroine to help him train and tells her to lie down. After approaching bed my character is instantly teleported onto it in lying position and game goes black and crashes playing ambient sound like being outside with birds and stuff. Disabling fade to black trying to approach from diffrent angles dont help.

I noticed a wrong texture or missing mesh or something for Norring in the Silentwood Crypt. I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like his robe is trying to use some human skin texture not made for that mesh. Any idea which .nif this is so I can track down the bad texture? I tried spawning the item and it said "Added" without description and nothing showed up in my inventory.  Searching for the item in the console doesn't turn up anything either. 

The clothes item is "bd_ClothesBeggarRobeOld" with BaseForm: 3A953287 and Ref Form: FF001F88.

That's weird. From what I remember, he wore just pants in my game, not robes.

Were you running Thief 1.4 on SE? I did open "Dogma - Thief.esp" in the Creation Kit and SSEEdit and it did indicate Norring was supposed to be wearing beggar's robes. 

Hmm, I do have the Thief - NPC Overhaul SSE, but it doesn't look like anything in there would swap clothing. It's mostly facegen stuff. 

 

The record for Norring in SSEEdit shows it wasn't modified by anything and he is supposed to wear bd_hs_NorringOutfit which has this record:

I think we're getting somewhere here. There's an alternate texture listed which sounds suspect--MaleUnderWearBody and bd_old_BodyTexture.

So bd_old_BodyTexture uses these textures:

and yup, malebody_old.dds is the texture I'm seeing wrapped on the clothing:

So maybe the solution is to delete the alternate textures?

Yup, that fixed it. To patch it manually, open "Dogma - Thief.esp" in SSEEdit.

Go to the "Armor Addon" for "bd_ClothesBeggarRobeOldAA"

Right-click in the cell to the right of MO2S-AlternateTextures.

Click remove.

Save & Exit.

I'm using an SOS revealing armor pack, so mine probably looks different than yours. SOS hasn't loaded in yet, so he's got black undies. 

 

It might also revert to the default textures if I delete the old-style body textures its referencing. Or it might give Norring hot pink robes. Either way would be an improvement from him looking like he skinned the students to make robes. 

 

I wonder if there's any other clothing referencing these old textures. That style of nude body texture isn't used anymore.

Sorry for late reply. Yes, the mod was the Vanilla Hair replacer if I remember right!

I have the exact same problem. Crash at the hot spring (which I avoided with the skip feature) and crash at the Jarl's Longhouse in Falkreath (marriage quest with the beggar). See also my post from 02.10.23 in this thread. Did you find a solution? I am on AE version 1.6.353 btw. Any help would be appreciated.

Walkthrough -

Before talking with Tolgan, you can save, watch the bad ending (if the condition for it is met) and then load and continue on.
After that, we go to the house of Alrik and Risi, she will already have to wait there, and will immediately speak to us as soon as we approach. In the dialogue, we choose help, and ask her to sleep with Tolgan. After the dialogue scene, we need to find the cape. It can be obtained in two places, 1) in the warehouse, 2) in the hospital. There are no scenes in the warehouse in the first part, so going there is optional, but desirable, as it will help you later run the scenes in the order you want (although this is one of the later options). Lod -
available if the heroine slept at least once in his house. After the conversation, you just need to wait a day, then Lod, after 8 in the morning, will speak to the heroine himself at the meeting, and so three times, after which he can be called to the jarl.

 

Cast - available if we went through his branch in such a way that we still have the opportunity to drink with him in the tavern.
After the first dialogue with him about marriage, you can wait a day and talk to him again, then the heroine will give a hint. But you can not wait, you can immediately get drunk with him after the first dialogue about marriage, and watch the standard scene in which a new piece will be added.

 

Next, we go to Zoe and she gives us the recipe for the potion,

You can hide under the bed, in closets, behind the columns in the main hall, behind the throne, under the tables, in some cases the animation will be played, if there is a lot of karma, then the animation will be different. you need to talk with the guard, and the entrance to the jarl's house will become available. Also, at the end of the branch, it will be possible to marry Lod or Cast according to the standard game system.

 

If we choose Vikar, after the first scene in the jarl's house and its further continuation in the witch's basement, we need to go to Solaf in the Gray Pine Goods, this is opposite the tavern.

But in order to see more content with Vikar, we still need to convince Nenya, the correct answers are "ointment from midges" and "traded every little thing", but in order for the second answer to appear, we had to talk to Vikar about his past before. If you forgot to talk, then it's okay,
it is enough to correctly answer the first question, and press the button in time in the mini-game.

After this scene, we go to the jarl's house with Vikar again at noon, watch the scene after which we have access to the jarl's house, we just need to talk to the guard.

At this stage, we can spend the night in the witch's house, for this we need to click on the bed in the evening.
If there is not enough karma, then choosing sex right away will not work, but it can be started after Zoe arrives without pressing the buttons when the indicator appears. If you still spend the night in the witch's house and choose sex, then there will be two more events on the 3rd night and on the 5th. After that, we get a fake artifact, if we give it to Zoe, then we will miss the fight.
After we finished with Zoya, in any of the ways, Vikar will run up and start a dialogue, you can help him build a house or say goodbye. If we chose the second, we will not see him again. If we decide to help, then we wait about 12 game hours, after that we will find him in the center of Falkreath (if we wait close to this place,
then the stage will not change until we move far enough from there, or change the location). In the center of Falkreath we meet Vikar, after that we have the opportunity to use his store. It only accepts items that cost up to 50 coins. First, he needs to accumulate 1000 coins. It has a line of dialogue,
which will show the amount of gold he has accumulated.

At this stage, a repeating version of the sex scene is available, which is triggered through dialogue with Vikar.

I conceived this whole part with the store as a background quest that runs in parallel with the main quest, it's just not interesting to complete it, of course, and the reward is insignificant there.
For the most part, due to the fact that I simply did not have time, I had big plans for its ending, and also had to abandon a large piece where we had to find workers. But if you still want to quickly see what happens next, you can simply use the setpqv hp_vikarlq market_gold_vikar x console command.
So,
for a start, he needs 1000. Again, the stage will not change if we stand side by side. When this happens, the courier will come running, but you can not wait for him, but just go to Vikar.

After the scenes, we need to find sawdust near his shop, from the side of the barracks, maybe they won't be visible (I didn't see them on the SE version with ENB). That's why,

Perhaps in the final version, this character will be one of the candidates for fatherhood, then I will expand the ending with him. For now, that's all.

I had a problem where whenever I'd enter the Falkreath tavern, the game would reliably crash. The crash log mostly made a lot of references to a Breton Farmer. Loading it up in Creation Kit, I noticed it was griping about skin tint textures a lot in the error log. I ran Cathedral Assets Optimizer on the Thief mod directories and it cleaned up some assets (animations were noted as already converted). 

 

Afterward, I was able to enter the Falkreath tavern without it crashing.
