All this talk about Marxism and I realize people really love demonizing Karl Marx but have they even read Marx's stuff? Or if they have read it have they thought of it in a practical mindset. Thanks to a video:

I learned exactly what the hubbub is about seizing the means to production. It doesn't mean free housing. It means borrowing the plow for a bit in order to compete with other producers of goods.

I honestly don't get some of the comparisons. Like why the French Revolution? French peasants were starving. Why wouldn't you stage a revolution in order not to starve to death. Nobody should have to go through that.

I just found out that one of the blueprint templates I got for Unreal Engine 5 is a skyrim-like game project. With spells, combat systems, stealth and everything.

Don't know what to think of that right now.

Here you go: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/rpg-user-interface-kit

I got it for free in the usual 'free for the month' events that epic games is doing regularly. I collected quite a few of these free projects over the past 7 or so years since I got the unreal engine. For both 4 and 5. Although many of them work on both engines, this project is only for the current new one (5.4.4).

Interesting. Did his or your parents say which bible Marx took it from?

Y'know, I actually read the Communist Manifesto while I was in college (not required reading for any of my courses, just felt like it since I heard people talking about how evil Marx supposedly was), and it basically can be summed up as Marx saying, "most conflicts throughout history are the result of class conflict where the haves (bourgeoisie/capitalists) oppress the have nots (proletariat/working class), your boss is a bastard, your company doesn't care about you, the state only exists to keep the poor from killing the rich, religion exists to pacify the common folk, and the only way to break out of this cycle of class oppression is for the workers to violently revolt against the capitalists and seize the means of production for themselves." Marx ultimately wanted to abolish classes in society and the disintegration of the state, this is because he viewed the state as an extension of one class's power. It's also important to keep in mind that Marx's ideas developed during a time where workers had basically none of the legal protection that people have now, including a lack of labor unions, no workman's comp, and the use of child laborers.

I've read some of Adam Smith's and John Keynes's stuff since then, and I've come to the conclusion that if someone's opinion on any of these guys is just that they're horribly evil and that they're responsible for the "fall of the West" all those culture war twats keep prattling on about, that they're intellectually lazy and their opinions should be discounted.

To paraphrase what Michael said on the Wisecrack episode: Jordan Peterson Doesn’t Understand Marx. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet and Marx's more thorough explanations on the topic lie in his other works.

I find it interesting that so many schools have people study the Manifesto. Why the Manifesto? Is it because teachers think their students are too stupid to read Marx's other works or were the governments so scared of Marx's other works that the Manifesto was the only thing that fell through the cracks? Then again I could be wrong on both accounts. In the modern world I find the most boring answer is usually the right one. And yes I am saying this in an Eeyore voice.

"The Communist Manifesto" is a pretty easy read on purpose. It was aimed at working class people who weren't familiar with economics or philosophy at an academic level, so recommending it to college students instead of something more dense like "Capital" makes sense.

I have learned a lot about Karl Marx and his writings from this single source.   I figure it is good enough to form an educated opinion on the subject.

I think the "life" guy wielding the club should be holding a gun to the head.  That's what it feels like for me, anyway.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they used a German Bible considering both the writers of the Communist Manifesto were Germans.

All you need to know about Marx was that he was a lazy bum sleeping on a friend's couch that accomplished nothing in life (livin' the dream, yo!) but got a lot of people murdered after his death because of his untenable ideas.
