Reveal hidden contents Note to moderators: I am playing off the official diplomatic post from the US Embassy in London. The U.S. Embassy in London, in a lighthearted effort to stem the outrage, disavowed the scientific recipe in a post on X Wednesday morning titled "An important statement on the latest tea controversy." “Today’s media reports of an American professor’s recipe for the ‘perfect’ cup of tea has landed our special bond with the United Kingdom in hot water,” the embassy's statement said. “Tea is the elixir of camaraderie, a sacred bond that unites our nations. We cannot stand idly by as such an outrageous proposal threatens the very foundation of our Special Relationship. “Therefore we want to ensure the good people of the UK that the unthinkable notion of adding salt to Britain’s national drink is not official United States policy. And never will be,” the statement continued. “Let us unite in our steeped solidarity and show the world that when it comes to tea, we stand as one.” But just to make sure everyone knew they were still American, they finished with a cheeky shot across the bow. “The US Embassy will continue to make tea in the proper way," they said, "By microwaving it.” It's a storm in a tea cup. The story was designed to stir up a brouhaha. It's one of those stories that crops up a couple of times a year. "Italians outraged at Americans putting pineapple on pizzas" is another one. Tea For Two Everything Stops For Tea Yes but many on both sides of the Atlantic are drinking it up. Too bad no one filtered it before it went hot.

Guest Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 > Corporations that appeal to "Save the planet" pollute it more.
Guest Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Just personal thoughts. Not an answer, just thoughts. Everything is very simple and I will not tell you the secret of the universe by telling you that everything always comes down only to the financial benefits of specific individuals. The dirt you hide under the sofa while cleaning does not make your room cleaner. It's the same here. It has been proven that cotton swabs pollute the planet. Has the situation changed after that?! They turned into paper or at least wood, which, in fact, also spoils the environment, because this is deforestation. (There are, of course, attempts at replacement, but they will not replace even five percent of the cotton swabs people use). There will always be consequences no matter what path you choose. But we can talk on this topic endlessly and even turn this discussion into a petition to protect the planet, which also, in principle, will not change anything. You can remember Wind Generators and much more. This, like any war, never meant the protection of anyone's rights and freedoms. Even if they shout about rights and freedom on every corner, this is nothing more than a screen or the reasoning of people who are not trying to deeply analyze the situation. What matters most is revenue, not how many potential taxpayers you lost in battle. Because income always covers these losses. p.s. It's been nice to talk to a lot of people here, but every rope always has an end. Don’t even think about offering me soap, that’s not what I’m talking about at all))). I apologize if my poor knowledge of the English language sometimes had an incomprehensible verbal form and could possibly even offend or offend someone. I never had such an intention, just as I never wished harm on anyone here. Even if a person does something that does not meet my life standards, I simply pass by, as life has taught me. I wish everyone all the best! Get sick less and smile more often!

Guest Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 You know what I will tell you all. Thinking too much is harmful! This causes headaches and even hair loss. In addition, thinking before bed makes it very difficult to fall asleep. Also, overthinking makes people crazy. The brain cannot withstand heavy loads. 🤪

Guest Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 (edited) > It is interesting how one saying in (for me) a foreign language (English) can change the meaning of the thing I tried to say. For instance, we also have "Like father, like son" and "Like mother, like daughter" saying in our language. In my latest diary, I misquoted my Ivy's saying "Like mother, like son", by turning it into "Like father, like son" since her saying didn't sound right in English to me and because we have no "Like mother, like son" saying in our language. So, whenever I read that sentence I felt something was wrong but couldn't figure out what was it until a few minutes ago. Damn, no wonder why I misunderstand people so many times and why they misunderstand me. Edited January 28, 2024 by Evaloves4
Darkpig Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Sissy is inconsistent and I'm not sure how to feel about that. I'm not saying it should be banned as banning it will just give assholes in locker rooms an excuse to use it as an insult. I'm just saying there are other words that are a bit more consistent. Like am I the only one who thinks it sounds like redneck incest porn? Well it kind of does mean sister but it also means effeminate man so which is it? Like if a man fucks his brother while calling him sissy would that also mean he's fucking his sister? I mean the old insult of "sissy boy" is a bit of an oxymoron. I guess it could theoretically work to describe a bigender person. Maybe instead of sissy try the words feminine man, baby, sister or... Cecilia? Am I reading the wiki right? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sissy Perhaps I'm being too harsh on this word because I find the words brother and/or sister overused where I live when chances are I don't even know you. What do you guys think?

If you ask me, 2sissy" is a silly kind of insult to a man who is not 100% manly according to someone's judgment. My best friend, Fran is a feminized gay, (hormone issues), he even sounds more like a woman than a man, but none of us sees him as "Sissy".

Guest Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 > The '70s were filled with aggressive pro-smoking movies, commercials, and advertisements. 21st century went in the opposite direction replacing cigarettes with thousands of pills that allegedly improve our health and supplement all that we don't get in the food. So what is that about, nothing, just one poison, and addiction, replaced with another on a more individual level.
