Do Skyrim still has modding potential?

Skyrim will always have modding potential just like all the other games do. Fallout 4 uses the same engine as skyrim does so it's not a better engine it's still the same old outdated engine.

There's people out there that don't play everything bethesda makes. Some people only play the TES games, and then there's some that only play fallout.

We'll continue to see Skyrim mods for a good while. To give you an idea, Morrowind came out 14 years ago. On the Morrowind Nexus, there was 1 mod uploaded today. There's not much going on in Morrowind modding these days, but someone is still modding it.

people like different genres. i won't play fallout because the concept is boring to me. i prefer fantasy settings. so i'll stick with modding skyrim until beth comes out with the next sequel, assuming that ever happens.

FO4 does not even kind of have better graphics. FO4 has super shitty baked-ray PBR and somewhat better shadow management and that's about it.

The main advantage is memory management and scripting breaking SOMEWHAT less often.

Skyrim Special Edition comes out October 28th (free for those who own Legendary). Details are a bit sparse right now.

If it truly is free for owners of Legendary Edition, then there is literally not reason to get Skyrim Special Edition.

Unless it breaks compatibility with FNIS/SKSE or other needed mods.

I really hope Beth are smart enough not to break those.

everyone still prefers skyrim over fallout (because fo4 has a lot of bullshit)

Mhm i like both. They play in different worlds and so they make me fun on there own way/universes.

What skyrim matters ... i still waiting on some new lands mods what are actual in work. Like beyond skyrim, an atmora and wrath of litchking mod on the nexus.

For f4, i wait actual just on some anti cd patches from bethesda (because often it ctds by me on startup|not everytime but sometimes) and may like the "half" of the internet on sextec and nuka world^^

Edit: And btw. i think fallout 4 is better as someone maybe think. Skyrim is just already many years out and we have a lot of "mod confort" in it. Fallout 4 needs only a little bit more time to grow.

Or is everyone moving to FO4 due to the "better" engine/graphics?

I like Skyrim more, despite that I am a try hard old fallout fan. Newer fallouts lost their specific feel.

Gonna stick to Skyrim for a long time ,especialy once the 64bit version comes out. It will be like second coming of Jesus. Also iam more familiar with Skyrim modding, I don't feel I want to wait few years for decent mods/tuff to appear.

Skyrim is still one of the noticeable sold game on Steam. After 5 years. (Of course it is not in the top list, but people are still buying it daily.)

It has by far the highest amount of mods compared to all other games (also together.)

And people are still modding it (I am, just for info.)

Now, the "Enhanced Edition" is confirmed, with an actual delivery date. It is confirmed that is free for PC (PC only) if you have Legendary or the game + all DLCs.

And it is confirmed that is a new engine and a separate game.

Now, my guess is that a bunch of item will not work anymore (SKSE, FNIS, and SkyUI, for instance.)

Shlangster said: I will not do SkyUI for Skyrim Enhanced.

No words from Ian Patterson.

No words from Fore, but he already said about FO4: I will not do it again.

probably modding for the enhanced edition will take time to have serious mods.

And probably they will not get it, because by the time needed to develop the frameworks, maybe TES6 will be out.

Armors, meshes, clothes, some simple stuff mod? Yep, from day 0 probably. Advanced stuff? In my opinion never.

I think Skyrim modding is dying, but still alive.

I was going to emigrate to Fallout4. But it did not feel the game like want to play thousands of hours with heavy modded.

Since there is no game to be a place, then I will remain in Skyrim until such game is released. Modding also continue.

SKSE is already confirmed by behippo. The only other thing we need is FNIS, which should work if they won't modify behaviors (why would they?). SkyUI is just an Interface mod.

Good news from Behippo.

Now, about the behaviors. I thin kthey will use the FO4 version of them. Silly to re-create the game engine to use the old Havok format.

And because Beth has for sure all the required libraries, they can convert the existing animations and behaviors in a snap.

So, probably no advanced behaviors (kills, dual anims, loops, like FO4) but basic anims will be possible by just creating the anim file. (Just my hypothesis, not confirmed by anything.)

SkyUI for me is a serious problem for advanced mods. I could not imagine to do a serious mod without adding a MCM to configure it.
