MonkeyShoulder Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1snlj3r Well, I don't know if there is really a right way to tell people this, so I guess here goes. The CT did not come back negative. The cancer in the bowel is gone, but spots have appeared in my liver. They're not operable and there's no cure. Average life expectancy is 2-3 years, though there are outliers that live much longer. I'll be back on chemo in a few weeks, with the goal of pushing it back and keeping it there for as long as possible. I fully intend to be the outlier, the average is this way because most people that get this are old and not strong anymore. Who knows what they'll come up with in the next decade? I intend to beat it for as long as possible. Gonna need some time to process all of this. I don't really feel anything right now. Thanks. I've lost family members to cancer, I would curse it with every curse uttered by humanity since we first learnt language.
27X Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 He's better off than most in that he has amazing insurance and is very young for this type of cancer, which automatically triples his expectancy. The truth, however, is that it's entirely malignant and fully metastasized, there will be no cure short of the Nanomachine Project being greenlit for human trials while Bain is still alive. He is on a clock, and there is no getting off. I have lost two very very dear people to me to liver cancer, and the chemo is the worst in the spectrum besides lung chemo. It is absolutely excruciatingly brutal, and it feels as if your arteries are literally on fire, and getting out of bed is the same as running a 15 mile marathon as far as your body is concerned. In most instances of this type of malignancy, the chemo is actually what kills you. He has a very tough fight ahead of him.
Guest Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 They are making new discoveries everyday. The most recent one is with Elephants, because logically speaking they should be riddled with cancer. Long lived. Huge ass bodies. Fast growth and etc but... cancer does not afflict them. Apparently they got like 4 or 5 times something we have which kills the cancer cells before they even grow. Think of white blood cells but for cancer. It was on a report and one of the ending comments was. "Why dont elephants dont get cancer? they dont eat what we eat" or something like that... So I guess the message is eat more healthier?
Faceless0ne Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Well, that's life. The only bad thing is, that he beat that shit already and it diddn't give up.
Chaos63 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Two of my grandparents went that way. Grandmother suffered for months(horror movie shit), but grandad was "lucky" enough to score the turbo fast type and was relieved just a few weeks after the diagnosis. Naturally, they both smoked a pack a day and more. Another 20-30 years ain't nothing to turn your nose up at, just saying.
27X Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 The kind he has is super virulent and he has a projected expectancy based on his age and health of about 4-6 years, problem being that he waited with symptoms for over a year and only got checked in the first place because his wife threatened to leave him. If he had taken her advice immediately, it might not have metastasized.
Guest Mogie56 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 He's got one hell of a lot of pain heading his way depending on it's spread. it doesn't always stay in one place. My sister battled six years with first brain cancer, they operated and thought they got it all then it went to her lungs and finally both lungs and brain. morphine was all that calmed the pain which was constant and excruciating. but the chemo was actually her coffin nail. every day for what was supposed to be two weeks, a week and a day is all her body could take. I wish him all the luck in the world, he's going to need it.
Coopervane Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 That is grave news indeed TB has been an incredibly positive force in game coverage and "new media" for a long time now, so the day he can nolonger continue his channel we'll all lose something. And this right after they thought he'd beaten it, like some horrible bait-and-switch. Cripes, i can only imagine what Genna and their son is going through right now All my sympathy to them, definately.
...0... Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I liked his videos showing if it was good PC port or not. Yeh its terible at that age having cancer like that hope for him because he is still young some kind of cure or prolonged life with some quality.
Angrybird Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 That sucks, what age is he? Not even 40 from his looks.
macman507 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 He is around 30, afaik. I kind of grew up on TB's videos, helped me learn english, about games and such... sad to see him in this state.
lawina Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I had similar symptoms like him (after he announced his, and I'm around his age). I'm still being in treatment. People, if you get any symptoms, go to the doc! Don't wait! No matter how healthy you feel.

ToJKa Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Well that sucks. I really enjoy his videos. Especially about crappy games He has sold me more games than all TV commercials combined

People, if you get any symptoms, go to the doc! Don't wait! No matter how healthy you feel. What are the symptoms? Pretty much everything. Anytime you feel some sort of pain, have a cold or just lose a couple of pounds, basically you should go see a doctor... Seriously, just google any ailment you're currently having and you'll most likely have cancer listed as a possibility.

People, if you get any symptoms, go to the doc! Don't wait! No matter how healthy you feel. What are the symptoms? Shitting blood, for one. Also freindly reminder for everyone reading: If you have blood coming out of any orifice, go to the doctor. Don't ignore it, or you'll end up in TB's current state.

Don't ignore it, or you'll end up in TB's current state. He didn't ignore it, though, he actually caught it early because he was paying attention to those things. That's how he was able to beat the bowel cancer in the first place. What's happening to him now... he just got dealt a bad hand.
27X Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 He ignored it for a year until Gemma gave him an ultimatum he couldn't mumble out of.

I remember checking symptoms for something a few years ago and turned out to be radiation poisoning, so I never did it again.
bjornk Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 As you grow older you begin to realize that dying young is a blessing.
Fuzaki Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Never really cared for his videos but my condolences.
lawina Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I had similar symptoms like him (after he announced his, and I'm around his age). I'm still being in treatment. People, if you get any symptoms, go to the doc! Don't wait! No matter how healthy you feel. What are the symptoms? Bleeding (from anywhere unusual). The only problem with bowel/colon cancer is that most of the time the symptoms only occur when it's at a later stage, where treatment becomes difficult. They didn't find cancer with my case, but they still aren't sure what caused my issue.
