27X Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Skyrim has been with us for so so long time. We have probably one of the biggest modding community. Recently I noticed a slowdown of creation of new good quality mods. What do you think? How long until Skyrim modding will "die"? Oh look this topic again. Never mind that the AI in the game just now got fixed, never mind that the best method for globally flagging npcs without exploding papyrus has just been established like 9 months ago, never mind that Cabal is just about to update Book of Secrets, never mind that FO4 modding will be much tighter controlled by Beth and won't be viable for months after launch other than generic replacer mods, never mind that 0S's framework can be applied to combat and magic dules and all kinds of state-machine type stuff to make interactive cutscenes or choose your-own-adventure mini battles/duels/bard slap fight, never mind that there's been seven huge ass landmass/quest mods made within the last four months, never mind that a perk overhaul that doesn't completely break java and Skyrim has been released and works exactly as advertised, right out of the box, never mind that Fore is presenting a framework to expand the WORST area of the game into something current gen and compelling without having to pay for an absurdly marked up license, never mind all that shit, cause you know it's over guys, it's all done and will never come back.

You forgot to include that skyrim + ENB is still graphically superior as well
Scythion Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Also multiplayer is coming to Skyrim and this can open up again endless possibilities for modding.

Recently I noticed a slowdown of creation of new good quality mods. What do you think? How long until Skyrim modding will "die"? I started playing skyrim on release 11/11/11, and just yesterday I was blown away by several mods I decided to try so to answer your question.... HELL NO. I check this site and skyrim nexus everyday for new mods and I expect to see new mods, and I do see new mods. actually I think this question comes up with every game, and the answer is always no. log onto Diablo 1 battle net and youll still find people playing that game online, and there are still people who hack the game. still people playing old everquest in project1999. like other people have said people are still modding morrowind..... that should say it all.
White Divinity Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hardly, skyrim modding won't die even after fallout 4 comes out, that's because some of us, including me, prefers the medieval style that the elder scrolls provide over the post-apocalyptic style of fallout.
Kain82 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 No, Morrowind still has a modding community. Heck I'm working on a mod for it right now. Plus the 0Sex mod by CEO linked earlier shows a lot of promise.
afa Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 When Fallout 4 gets the mod train rolling then we can come back to this topic. When TES6 is out and its mod train is rolling then maybe we can start talking about dying.
quin666 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 He talking about quality mods so going talk about quality. Going be real here, most mods mediocre at best. No sense of accomplishment, fun or real rewards with mods. Look at Hentai Mania mod. Enemys give hentai outfits and weapons. Back to Skyrim. No dungeons dedicated any type crazy drops. Apachii Store. I would kill, steal and trade my way get items I want. Back to Skyrim. Make fancy places (Halo mods) with no sense playablility. Nothing kill. Nothing do. Like watching GTA series crash and burn, but this time Skyrim. People way toooooooooo serious about mods these days. Endorsements and fear people stealing mods is new fad now. My thoughts on subject.
Rayblue Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Skimmed around at Tumblr, found at least one mod author deciding to go full-on to Black Desert, an MMO which seems to answer a lot of things missing in Skyrim, which would soon go live in the next few months. But then having come from an experience where I once played an MMO and got burned out because of the rising costs of becoming stronger and the need to grind constantly, I'm not dropping Skyrim completely and it's staying on my hard drive, to be modded into what I really wanted the game to be and it never gets old, because every other game that I played had came and gone, been there, done that, games that can't be modded.
Taskmaster Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 This thread continues to be freaking ridiculous.

How are we defining quality? since this seems rather subjective to me and very open to personal bias
GimmeBACON Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 To say it's dying would be a lie, but, to say it's just as strong, or stronger then it was a few years ago would be a lie too. Somebody said something about LL having some of "the best modders in the game", but the only "quality" Skyrim mods on here are the Sexlab framework itself, and the animations people like Leito86 and a few others made, and most everything else draws from those wells. Not badmouthing anybodies work at utilizing the framework, but I don't think that warrants them being called some of the best. Of course my opinion does not equal fact, so take this statement with a grain of salt.
Gagoloth Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Oblivion came out 9 years ago and it still has allot of people modding it. Morrowind came out 13 years ago and you can still find mods coming out for it. So to answer your question "Is skyrim modding dying? no. Is it dying down? yes. How long until will mods keep coming out for skyrim? my guess is about 10-15 years.
Setekh Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Not everyone is looking forward to Fallout, I won't even be getting because the setting doesn't interest me. I'll be playing and modding Skyrim until TES:VI releases.
DenjiXMakima Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Years, tbh. Just look at Oblivion or FO3...while content isn't getting made/released every single day, there is still a steady flow of mods being created. While the quality varies, there are some modders that prefer working with specific titles and never move onto the next 'best' game. I imagine there will be a big drop off once FO4 is released, but it mostly be the tatty mod makers that migrate right away. The 'high end' modders probably won't touch it until a script extender is made or a GECK is released. As for Skyrim, I'm sure the TES modding community will continue on as it always has...every couple of weeks or months there will be something new to test, play and enjoy. I figure it's a long away from 'death'. N~dles I agree, I don't think Skyrim modding will die so soon. I for example have no interest in the Fallout series and I think I am not the only one. Skyrim has been with us for so so long time. We have probably one of the biggest modding community. Recently I noticed a slowdown of creation of new good quality mods. What do you think? How long until Skyrim modding will "die"? There are many cool mods coming out each day and I would say per Month there are atleast 10 - 15 real good ones. You seem to be blind for these mods I guess.
noodles1976 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Well, I pretty much said everything I needed to in my earlier post, but I found this interesting...I thought I'd share this bit of info. Last night while researching a mod hosted on the Nexus and contemplating if I should use it or not, I decided to hit the 'recent' files tab just to see what's come out this month so far... 30 pages of mods released, with 12 files on each page. That's 360 mods released in October...and we're only 1/2 way through the month. Not going to discuss the type or quality of these mods, suffice they cover a very broad spectrum of content. This is not even including the updates / patches of already existing files...so, yeah. The Nexus modding community is on track for possibly 720 mods released this month alone...around 23 mods per day average. N~dles

I'm exaggerating of course, but that's what seems to pop up on the hot files section more often than not.

The Hot Files header is rather misleading, as most of them are followers, skimpy armor or other "Pretty NPC" type mods...not slagging those mods, they involve effort and a bit of courage to release (the TES modding community is one of the most critical and demanding ones I've ever encountered, and it takes a bit of a thick skin to make your work public). But there is a ton more content that gets buried due to the sheer volume of files that get pumped out every single day...it's easy to miss those few diamonds in the rough. N~dles
Lurkermin Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Modding in Skyrim is gonna last as long as people don't find it more fun to mod elsewhere, so depending on Fallout 4 and the next Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim will decline a little or increase a lot more like it did when the nexus got flooded with all those Witcher 3 mods.

Guest Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 The way I see it, Skyrim still has a good year or two of fairly intensive modding activity at least until Beth opens the backdoor to FO4.At that point I'll personally be switching over to it until Beth releases the next TES, just as I did in the gap between Oblivion and Skyrim. Think about mods like Immersive Citizens, 0Sex and FNIS 6 - that's not symptomatic of a dying scene, that's a game still getting itself dragged up by the boot straps.
