No manual installation option? I must be a dying breed.

In the same way that people who stick to stone tools are a dying breed, yes :P

If you like manual installs then MO would be perfect. It even allows manual manipulation and if you know the proper Skyrim folder structure then MO should be right up your alley.

And you still get to keep a clean data folder. Perfect.

I do wonder why a Mod Organiser User would not take the time to adjust the Priority of Updates or turning a tweak or two into a new Mod through Mod Organiser, but I also try and keep My left Pane clean and organised. I do not like having just an updated esm file or an updated nif file taking a slot. :mellow:

That is why I do both.

I'll install the main mod and if there are updates or tweaks or some re-texture, I will manually update the main mod.

Then of course there are ENBs that I manually install, but that's a given due to how they are operate in the root folder of the Skyrim install location and not under the Data folder.

Don't have any problems with nexus im with the stupid using NEXUS.

But i know the rediculous hate for nexus here is kind of sad but hey your free whatever you wanne use ;)

This is what people sending to NEXUS staff how sad can you be fucking LOSERS.

=======================================================================================

We're struggling to actually ascertain how many people it hasn't worked for because most people are focusing on sending us insults, hate, or, in some cases, death threats (yes, death threats...I can't help but laugh at the stupidity of it). Righ ...

=======================================================================================

I hope no LL members doing this because there smart and mature and have some social intelligents?

I like the Nexus (been a member since 2006) and have had no problems, but then again I avoid the forums like the plague and refuse to get caught up in the drama that happens there.

I did notice a larger than normal trend of the 'hate' replies not only to the Nexus staff but to other members in the comments of the NMM 0.60 announcement. So much, that it made feel sorry for DarkOne and the rest of the Nexus staff. [well except for one mod that will remain nameless. I've never cared for his attitude. I know he has a job to do, but he really needs brush up on his people skills]

peace..

Well i don't care if this whole site hating nexus i still visit it everyday(i barely use forums there have in about 8 years used it 30 times hehe)if i see a good mod i dl it and show sometimes screenshots i make in my favorite mod page on nexus i use for my characters also sometimes for other mods i like. Drama on nexus is rather unknown to me becouse i don't chat or communicate through forums(only when i get PM about my awesome screenshots ;) )

Btw i have not yet used latest NMM version 0.6 due to troubles with my main PC so i can't realy judge about that right now lost my whole skyrim install.

I have used NMM for years with almost no problems( i do how ever also alot manually(i like that)) i know exactly how all works and how to avoid mod problems.

To each his own, i gues.

well i finally done it, switched from NMM to MO, took a long time but the work was well worth it. had to do a clean install of everything but after all that work it just seems that MO does the job better than NMM, but in all actually its a matter of taste, doesn't matter if a person uses NMM or MO, it all depends on how you want your Skyrim experience to be.  in my opnion if your starting out on using mods for skyrim, i would start with NMM, then once you have become experienced enough, switch to MO.

This tells me you should've jumped on the Mod Organizer bandwagon already. If you can manually install without issues then MO is perfect for you because it does require a bit of knowledge in how Skyrim folder structure works to really get the most out of it.

You also wouldn't have lost your last Skyrim install. Just sayin'....

BlackTulip said PC trouble.

You're right. But I read that as "player character" for some reason! That's what I get for drinking before forum browsing! :lol:

I can relate, though, since I did have to reinstall once since switching to MO. I tried to use a preview build of Win10 and it broke so I had to fully reinstall Win7 and lost everything in the process.

Thanks to Gopher, there is now an in-depth explanation of the NMM profile feature together with a comparison to the one of MO:

https://youtu.be/1_tsq4KfHKs

Here's a short explanation

One uses hardlinks, one an actual FS hook. Considering how broken hardlinks on NTFS are (especially if you try to spread over to other disks) I'd keep using MO. Symlinks would be cool, if TESV would actually properly follow it.

Easy way to think about it: When Skyrim asks the OS for the folder, MO will sit in between and lie to Skyrim. NMM will use a forgotten broken feature of NTFS.

Not my words, though it's true that hardlinks are old and broken :)

Gopher helped me a lot 3 years ago and next year after showing and explaning how many things works. I like how he explain things and most of time is very clear after his video.

Well I keep my opinion to myself for the most part, but if someone is asking which is the better tool, having used both for Fallout as well as Skyrim, I won't be switching back to NMM.  And it is hard not to praise the virtues of MO as it is truly an easy to use and understand system.  (Even the running scripts in creation kit from within MO has been fixed if you follow Ashal's instructions a few pages back).  No hatred of Nexus here, I am on their site everyday although I have no use for their forums, Just an objective view of the two alternate approaches.  And the fact that NMM is starting to turn towards virtualization would tell me that they think that MO's virtual approach is a better system as well.

What is the average load up time on NMM now?  It used to be a couple minutes every time you turned it on, not sure if that has changed with their new setup?

Exactly right. Every bit.

There's no reason to NOT tell people about the superiority of MO because MO is objectively better in every single way you could measure better or worse. And, like you said, Nexus's move toward a MO clone should show this much.

Most of the time we're talking about problems with the manager.
