Furious - Barbarian Gameplay

FURIOUS
If it moves... hit it. Repeatedly.

Between World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, and Heroes of the Storm, I've come to like the fury warrior / barbarian play style. It converts your MAGICKA into FURY or RAGE. This means:

  • When you leave combat you'll slowly leak mana.

  • You only generate mana [and slowly] while in combat.

  • You generate mana in larger chunks by being hit.

  • So to recap, in order to cast any spells, you are going to have to get really mad first. From this point on MANA/MAGICKA is going to be called FURY/RAGE.

Some of the barbarian spells which are OP will be rage percentage based, while others will remain a fixed cost. Putting points into your Magicka will still grow the size of your mana pool, helping you use more barbarian spells, as regen is always percent based.

Note: This mod is my only safe-for-work mod, and it has gotten a lot of positive feedback so I have elected to try posting it on Nexus once to see how long it takes me to regret that decision. LoversLab will remain my primary release platform. I don't know why you should care, but whatever, now you know.

CURRENT VERSION: 103
Recent Versions Added:

  • You will need to BARBARIAN UPDATE in the MCM menu to see changes take effect.

  • [103] Just a minor enhancement to the Sadist perk to reduce save bloat faster than the game does naturally.

  • [102] Added two new Rage Overflow perks - healing and stamina - in the Restoration tree. When your rage is full, your passive rage generation goes to health and/or stamina instead.

  • [101] Fixes Rage Gen Ranged MCM option. It was freaking out saying NaN when you tried to change it.

  • [101] Fixed Barbaric Sadist perk to not include spells and ranged.

  • [101] Tempered the default rage gen numbers. Your existing game won't notice.

BARBARIAN PASSIVE ABILITIES

  • CONSTITUTION - Regenerate health and stamina 200% faster than non-barbarians.

  • DO YOU EVEN LIFT - Able to carry up to 50 more pounds or whatever that value is.

  • BLOOD FOR BLOOD - Do more damage the less health the character has.

  • Lose RAGE (remember, magicka) while not in combat. You lose 2% of your rage for every second.

  • Generate RAGE while in combat. You generate 1% of your Rage ever second.

  • Generate RAGE when hit. These conditions can and will mix and match with each other.
    - Base 10% of max rage when hit.
    - Additional 20% if it was a power attack, because that hurt.
    - Additional 5% if it was a shield bash attack, because that smarts.
    - Additional 10% if it was a ranged attack, ranged attacks are for cowards.
    - Additional 15% if it was a magical attack, because fuck mages and fuck mages.
    - Additional 5% for each enchantment on the weapon that hit you.

BARBARIAN "SPELLS"

  • ENRAGE - Lesser Power - Instantly fill 25% of your rage at the cost of 25% of your health. Generate an additional 10% over 10sec at the same equal cost of health. Yes, it is possible to kill yourself doing this - my D&D guys should be nodding.

  • SHOCKWAVE - Lesser Power - Blast a concussive wave with a mighty roar or something to that effect. Staggers assholes in your way. Costs 50 rage.

  • BARBARIAN LOCKPICKING - Lesser Power - bashes the locked object under the crosshairs until it unlocks. 25% base chance to succeed which increases with your lockpicking skills. And also increases your lockpicking skill. Lol. Should work on anything that is locked. Breezehome? Mine now motherfucker.

BARBARIAN PERKS

  • BARBARIC CH'I - Absorb energy from attacks upon a successful block. Each rank (max 3) increases rage generated from that hit by 5%. Requires block skill of 20 and at least one point into Shield Wall.

  • BARBARIAN SADIST - Also generate rage when *you* hit things, using the same mechanics as when you are hit. Requires One Handed OR Two Handed skill of 30. This perk exists in both trees. Getting it twice (it wont even let you anyway) won't double up the effectiveness. It is in both trees purely so you may specialise in your weapon of choice.

  • RAGE OVERFLOWS: HEAL, AND STAMINA - When your rage is full your passive rage generation goes towards your health and/or stamina instead. These perks live in the Restoration tree.

REQUIREMENTS

  • SKSE. I recommend 1.7.3 just in case.
  • That's it.

RECOMMENDED MODS

  • There will be several warcry shouts with long cooldowns. Install Individualized Shout Cooldowns so that you can still use other shouts while others cooldown. I don't play without it on any character, the concept that saying one word prevents me from saying others is retarded.
  • The armor everyone is going to ask about: Dragonbone Barbarian Armor
  • Why not add Beastiality to the mix? That sounds pretty barbaric to me. Untamed.
  • For comedy value, add Mana Tanks.

CHANGELOG

  • 20150719 - 103
  • sadist effect/script falls off of actors when they die, reducing script bloat sooner than waiting for the game to handle deleting the dead npcs. this also means bashing dead npcs wont give you free rage anymore :P

  • added rage overflow heal perk
  • added rage overflow stam perk

  • 20150717 - 101
  • fixed rage regen raged mcm option
  • fixed barbaric sadist to not include spell/ranged
  • tempered default values

  • 20150716 - 100
  • Tagging first stable release.
  • Moved blocking rage gen perks to its own perks in the block tree.
  • Added attacking rage gen perks in both one and two handed trees.

  • 20150715 - 004
  • Adjusted shockwave fx
  • Adjusted blood for blood fx
  • Added advanced tab to MCM and allow rage generation settings to be customised.
  • Barbarian Lockpicking.
  • 20150714 - 003
  • Adjusted shockwave effects.
  • Adjusted passive health/stamina regen.
  • Added Blood For Blood passive ability.

Damn faceroll spinning barbs!

....

OT: Sounds like an interesting idea!

lololololololol

i probably wont implement whirlwind. i don't even know if the game is capable of that since it wouldn't register as an attack. plus thats how you knew noob warriors in wow. i only barely tolerate it in HOTS lololol. most of my spells should feel like muscle based brute force attacks by the time i'm done.

Wat? How can you despise the almighty spinnerino? Garen is not amused

TK combat has a one-handed spinning attack, called "rend". I think you could recycle that script and add support for two-handed. Bugs me pretty badly that there is only 1h ww.
Would be nice in general to just implement TK combat into your mod. Those combat moves are exactly what one needs to deplete a rage bar. #kreygasm

EDIT: Oh, and while getting hyped, here is a list of moves / mechanics I NEED to see:

Leap Slam
Charge Attack Remake
Bladestorm
Spell Reflection
Rage to HP
Immortality Warcry at 100% rage cost
Throw your weapon like a boomerang
Various effects on power attack, that depend on configuration and build
Lifeleech
Rambo Mode - use HP directly instead of rage
Frenzy - get faster at everything but lose %HP per sec
Carnage - heal up to 100% after each kill
By The Blade - challenge targeted enemy. only he can harm you.

awesome spell list to go by. was bladestorm the single revolution whirlwind? been a while.

It's a spinning series of attacks that goes for several seconds. At least in my opinion.

when i was doing fury warrior in pandaria i remember she had two different spin attacks. one which was Arms Warrior which was "whirlwind for days" and one for fury warrior which was "just one spin then done" - i think both of them may have been bladestorm - just that it behaved differently based on the spec. and i think the term "whirlwind" is coming from old vanilla wow.

i remember when i first started playing wow i was really confused, bladestorm is always what people called the rogue attack where they just throw daggers 360 degrees around them. when i started the warrior and i was like NO WAY I CAN DO THAT TO??!?!? and then it wasn't that, i was very confused.

and then in lich king we had `BONNNNEEEEEEEEEEEE STORRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM` which was totally a whirlwind attack XD

[edit] ah, no, at least now in modern times, "whirlwind" is totally the single revolution where "bladestorm" is totally the whirlwind-for-days.

i plan to start with the simple things first. one Perk i want to implement is "after successfully blocking an attack, your next attack does % more damage" - i dont know if i can really hijack the existing perk trees. i dont want this mod to become incompatable so i may have to do something like add a warrior trainer to the game to add extra perks to you that dont exist in the trees. and i also dont want gold to be how you buy perks. im thinking of tracking all the damage you take (or do. it turns out tracking outgoing damage is very not easy) and using that as xp.

the numbers need to be tempered a little bit, a few things probably generate rage too fast etc, but i don't think its buggy at all, yet.

i just noticed MO fucked me over again. the ESP for the last few releases is probably not up to date, because now i have two copies of it, one in my mod folder and one in overwrite. 004 will probably be the first release that actually works since 001. piece of shit.

Don't - just don't - blame the tools. (Well apart from the CK - which is just shit)

normally when I save the esp the version in the mod folder vanishes, which is my cue to get the fresh copy from override. it didn't happen this time. so no, I blame mo still.

Ok, I've installed the 004 now and will see how it goes. ;)

since that post i added an MCM to tweak most of the numbers, too.

The 004 works for me just fine.

Only one thing... the empty mana/rage bar is always visible. That looks a little bit bad. Can you hide this bar, if it empty?

no not really. i don't have any of the tools required to hack the ui as those are flash assets.

Cool mod, I miss a few things about Warcraft, (NOT the people) rogues in pvp battlegrounds being the  top but a close second is my warrior. I dont use 2handers often in Skyrim but you have me making a special play through. Thanks for the hard work!

Ok, too bad. I've installed 1.00 and works again fine for me. Thx! Nice work!

Edit:

LOL one funny thing!

NMM identify your 1.00 version as "KenMOD - Skip Bethesda intro" ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/100)!

i use mo not nmm. i have no idea why nmm would think anything because there is no meta file or anything. its just zip of my mod folder.
