I'm getting better at this - I had an idea today (mod it BACKWARDS) and I finally got her jewel to show up! 

 

I don't know how to make it sparkle the way it should though in the model viewer haha

 

I have a hunch it has to do with what slot I place it in since the original unmodified outfit does the same thing in the slots i've tried...hm.
