fizzybutt
Â They couldn't just leave it at the home page that chrome and gmail are synched up closer than a couple rabbits going at it til they pass out. No they had to add this new overlay on top of it all. I thought at first when it popped up it was some new bandai glitch since it popped up when I clicked on that page to look at some off-the-wall armor mod. My processes are starting to look like the starting lineup for some sports event. Or the line to the bathroom at the club. It's all 'Google Chrome' when I have more than 3 tabs open. And I only have one extension. Â It was still there when I reopened my browser. Clicking on it reveals that it's bright and shiny new button going 'hey you! Yeah YOU! .... you're browsing here' Â Â Wait.. That's me???? ME??!?!?! Say it isn't SO! Â Â I guess some of us aren't sure of our online identity that chrome has to point it out to us. Â Â Hunted settings and there's no way to turn it off without completely removing all link with gmail either. (I kinda like being able to just hit the new tab page and getting my gmail in the unobtrusive top corner.) Â But the big glaring 'you' button irritating. It's messing with the clean lines of my windows dammit. Apparently it can show up as your name too because 'da boyfriends says his name on it. Â Â I feel like google is pointing a big fat finger at me every time I look at something naughty now. Â Link to comment
jordisslave
Google's big fat finger isn't pointing, it's flicking through its notebook, looking for the appropriate page to record what you're doing. Â *fetches tin-foil hat and Faraday coat* Â Link to comment
windpl
I don't see a single reason why should anyone use chrome. Unless you like being tracked and showed ads in your ass. Link to comment
4onen
It's a part of their "multi-user" system. Mine shows my real name because I connected it to my Google account. They're just making the user profiles more "visible" now, locally (not to the interwebs). Â Doesn't show up in incognito mode. Just FYI. Link to comment
fizzybutt
I've never done incognito mode. I don't see the need to. When I click on it, it shows my google account, just like Suckits screen next to me. Only difference is, mine says 'you' and his says his name. I changed the 'you' to 'wtf' for a lark.  It's not that I mind that chrome and my google are synched. It's really useful most of the time. The fact that I can't hide the new intrusive button is what's irritating. I just thought it was funny that it had to say that it was indeed me, myself and I that was currently browsing. A She-Wolf
It doesn't matter. Everyone ever always knows what you're doing/looking at always, cuz it's their jerbs to know. I mean, our cable company uses Glenn Bughrck(pukeinmouth) for their spokes person. I mean really.  What's most disturbing about it is that it's clearly a windows overlay in windows and Chrome didn't have to install a facking thing in order for it to show up. More browser processes FER DER WERN.   Link to comment

Better stability and compatibility with 95% of webpages than IE or FF?  I don't really have ads, because the ad blocker software works beautifully, and as far as tracking, if they wanna know my top picks for porn sites, I'll gladly tell em.  Hell, for $50, they can come to my house and I'll take a survey on it. Link to comment

It's from theonion.com. I'd never seen it before so when he showed me it cracked me up. Completely Satire. Until I came across the flash banner at a minecraft modding site and the FF browser window actually dropped framerates to a slow grind while I browsed, even with all that crap up-to-date. There's no excuse for that, so chrome was the only option. Was Fizzy actually; insisted I switched. Â Ahh well. Only option best option, I guess. Link to comment

LordJerle
Â *snip* Â My experience is different. And quiet opposite to what you wrote. But I won't dwell on that, IMO it is worst shit ever just after IE. Â Â I used FF for a long time, especially in my OGame (OCrack) days, mainly for the OGame plugins that were available. Â After awhile I got tired of the performance and memory issues and started looking for a better browser. Â Went back to IE for a bit, tried Opera, a few independent browsers, then I checked out Chrome, and have had none of the issues with it that I've had with other browsers. Â Whether or not I'm being spied on is a moot point, because that can be done at the ISP level quite easily, and I really have nothing to hide, other than some financial stuff, and so far, Google hasn't dipped into my checking account, so I think I'm good there. myuhinny
I use to have a youtube account then google took it over and wanted me to get a google joke account just to use and sign into something that I already had a account for. So I dropped my account and if I find anything on youtube that I want to watch but has a you have to be signed in to watch this I just copy the name go to a different video site and watch it there without having to sign into youtube to see it.
