Chase is right - they're really just throwing us a bone. Free things never move quickly.

Still' date=' I won't deny that I'm getting a bit antsy.

[/quote']

In what way is it "free"?

It was supposed to be released together with the game and then a few weeks later and then in jan. They sold us the game with the information that it'd be shipped with the CK and that is what we paid for. It is in no way "free". If I had expected them to be a bunch of lying douchebags I wouldn't have paid them...

Agree with the sentiment. If they had not announced a release date for the CK, I wouldn't have bought the game. Haven't played it in over a month.

Guess it's high time for a temp. token strike against Valve' date=' the weak point on the other side of the line.

Valve wrote an entire game with the same tools they release to modders. Beth could learn a thing or two. Start with (game).exe and try to create the entire game from scratch, without any vanilla ESMs. Not possible with any of the CKs.

CK: 1/31/12 at 11:59 1/2si PM!

Announcing delivery dates is easy. Meeting them is what matters. What time zone? I suspect the Aleutian islands. ;)

It goes both ways, prideslayer. TES V is not the first CK supported game by Bethesda. Now, the marketing relation between both companies via Steam mechanism is the only cause of delay for the CK. That the press offices of Bethesda still tell us that the CK would be in the making, coming soon, well, that's a good designer joke for kids only, for the CK is there since long, but that goes without saying.

Too many lies...

I agree entirely with your sentiment.

I do not believe that valves marketplace thing is the sole reason for the delay in getting the CK out. That, I suspect, is just one more lie.

Is this confirmation or speculation?

the latter' date=' what else?

and I agree, prideslayer. It's almost impossible for us to unriddle the clutter of lies.

[i']Ya see, ya see? They're just pissing on us without even giving us the courtesy of calling it rain[/i]

The CK is almost done!

There are those that have touched it, felt it, rubbed all over it and it's real.

The wait will be worth it (days not months), remember this time some *modders* were asked to jump in on a beta run, and as of right now it exists, and its "cumming", that's all I can say.

Unfortunately due to the numerous lies that have been told to us in the past, we will only believe it when it is available for downloading. The fault for this lies solely with Bethesda and their past track record.

Now don't get me wrong as I don't hate them, I have purchased each and every product they have made, but I am tired of being lied to. While saying "it will be done when it is done" may anger some it is really the correct approach. Bethesda's approach of promising a date, missing it and then giving no updates what so ever bespeaks of a complete lack of control over the products development and further states they don't know what the hell is going on.......that type of behavior fails to establish any credibility!

You know we've been waiting too long if it's already come to the point where people are making standalone mods without the Creation Kit being out. By the time it comes out it's quite likely a lot of people will have moved on from Skyrim. It does seem like Bethesda is getting more and more lazy, not only at their failure in releasing the CK with the game but also at the fact how much of a buggy mess the game was upon release.

Posted

Well, the delay in the CK was predicted long ago and didn't surprise me, and honestly for me on the PC, the game was the most stable one they have ever released. Sure it had bugs but what did anyone expect with the hand picked sales/marketing release date. We got a late stage beta. In time the game will far surpass oblivion and once a lovers system is fully implemented it may even retire oblivion completely.

The DRM sneak patch and the horrific ones that followed it were unforgivable and they have taken deserved flak for them. On a good note they have actually learned from the bad patches by starting an opt-in beta test for patches. This is of course the correct way to do things and hopefully other game developers will take notes. Especially in light of Steam as you can NOT stop updates unless you keep steam in offline mode permanently.

Now PS3 users have not been as lucky as us PC users :(

I think it's allowable to love the company and hate their marketing department :)

The only time we will hate both, is when th tools are released and buggy as hell. And stripped to bare minimum.

sounds like bioware

I'll admit, DA2 has shaken my belief in them a bit. Their fondness of pricey minimalistic DLC isn't helping either. Still, I like their writing :)

Honestly if it was up to marketing the CK would be released on 12-12-12!!!

On the DA2 note - It was a bad decision by Bioware, nothing more than a console port that forgot to include any love for the original fans. It was pushed by EA and the Pinheads counting loot.

And if no one understood my first post on page 4 about the CK release (it was sarcasm), please stop in the Bethsoft forums where you will find those that drink the Kool-aid.

Let me say one thing though I have been a Beth fan since Daggerfall and I have nothing against the Devs themselves but the marketing department has gone down hill over the years.

I'll admit' date=' DA2 has shaken my belief in them a bit.[/quote']Anything that EA touches dies...eventually. Usually it's not very pretty. Westwood, Origin, Maxis, Bullfrog, and so on. There's a reason why EA is looked upon as pure evil inside the gaming industry.

Though Ubisoft seems to be trying *really* hard to take the crown from them.

Actually, the marketing department for Skyrim did a phenomenal job. There were game commercials, a live action commercial, plenty of E3 news, live demos, Todd Howard was a great presenter, the collector's edition was superb (a fucking model dragon!?!), and this game was plastered on seemingly every video game website's ad space at one point or another. The game also indirectly started the "I took an arrow to the knee" and "Fus Roh Dah" meme's, which spread like wildfire on the net. They also made a great decision going with a slick black color scheme - very impactful and eye-catching.

I have never seen a game marketed as well as Skyrim has. Their marketing team deserves huge kudos. They are not involved in the patch process whatsoever.

Blame the QA, patch team, and developers.

Skyrim's hugely-anticipated 1.4 update will miss its promised January release date on PS3 and Xbox 360, but isn't delayed by much, Bethesda has confirmed.

WILL Here We are in FEBRUARFY........

Morrowind Was a Lot Better Game had better and stories and quests! AND That's Way "We NEED the CK" To Make this Game BETTER to give it Better Stories, Better Quests, Better Graphics, Better Armor, Better Weapons, Better Looking NPCs, Make it More Immersive, Better Cities Biger, This Game NEEDS a Overhaul! The developers Did Not Give us this, (The developers Made this Game to make Money!) So Give Us the CK and let us Make the Entertainment!

P.S. I'v Been Playing this Game for Over 280 Hours, But i keep starting over and over because the beginning is a Lot Better then the END! "NOW WAY IS THAT?"

And I love Skyrim to DAMEIT!!!!!!!!

Thank You!!

Mmmm... but they're also the ones who picked the 11-11-11 date and forced release without the CK in the first place' date=' and the ones who keep setting deadlines that the devs can't keep.

As regards Todd Howard, I went right off him when he tried to spin the savage cutback in role-play elements and the continuing simplification of the clothing system as a much demanded improvement. I don't know which annoyed me the most, the attitude of "[i']now improved with added stupid[/i]", the implicit suggestion that my poor little brain couldn't cope with all those oh so complicated numbers in Oblivion, or the smug assumption that I'd not be insulted by such patronising bullshit. I damn near didn't buy the game on account of that.

I'll grant that Beth marketers may be great at designing adverts and generating publicity, and I get that without these there'd be no sales and no future releases. But I also suspect they don't have a lot of respect for the fans, and that is something that could backfire on them, as witness some of the hate on this forum.
