Redflyingmonkey Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 What is this ""soccer"" you people are talking about? Ah, I see, that's the way you call real Football... Anyway, I'm argentine and I don't have high hopes for this afternoon... just that the Netherlands make worse mistakes than our team. Darn europeans, you don't need another country with a cup. Well, she did say "football if you wish" (even though it's not just "as we wish", it's "as it is"), so chill out bro ! Good luck to your team !

Soccer is the original name for the sport, changed some years after to football by popular use. BTW, I'm too from Argentina but living in Spain.
OverClocked56 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Yeh where in trouble, 0.2 km/h faster Well, I fear more Van Gaal's notebook than Robben itself...

You do realize that "soccer" comes from the term "Association football", the "soc" got vulgarized by lazy English people who just added the -er suffix, which gave "soccer".

Angrybird Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 You have to say soccer or americans get really confused.
OverClocked56 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I say football, if americans get confused is their problem, not mine...

Heresy!! Heresy I say! Yeah, I'm a traitor... I guess you today will be repeating "El que no salta es un holandés", right ?
Redflyingmonkey Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Yes, I do. Erhm did you mean something else when you said "soccer" was the original name of the sport ? If you do know that then you know it was called football before right ? Was it ironic or something ?
OverClocked56 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Yes, I do. Erhm did you mean something else when you said "soccer" was the original name of the sport ? If you do know that then you know it was called football before right ? Was it ironic or something ? According the wiki I read some time ago Association Football was coined to distinguish it from other types of football like rugby football (rugger). So people started to call it soccer. Football alone was an unqualified name but people used it anyway along with soccer but some years after the term football prevailed. At least that's what it read.
OverClocked56 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Prediction: Netherlands - Argentina 2-1 Cool !!
D_ManXX2 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Seeing as how Germany and Brazil was predicted i go for Argentina now.. Van Persie is not playing and no telling how the defense will be even with the injured De Jong playing. De jong has not played 2 games and Netherlands was failing a allot with there defense after De Jong got out of the game. I am sure Van Gaal Has good reason for letting De Jong play or else there is chance Argentina could wolse over the defense. Also there is no Garentee how his Injury could hold. Also there is still a chance he could be out of the match after 7 minutes again. Argentina-Netherlands 2-1 Queen Maxima and King Willem Alexander are gonna have some problems after what happens today.

Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I don't know who to root for this match. I like Van Persie and I like Messi. I am rooting for Germany in the finals, though.

Yes predicted most matches wrong yes but all my prediction for holland where that holland wins so 100% correct on goals made where not correct and Van Persie plays.

Well, If I weren't from Argentina I would root for Holland. Why ? I see Holland as a champion without crown. In the 70's changed the concept of playing football bringing a beautiful and effective play. In 1974 they lost the final to Germany I guess because the germans were playing at home and were more experienced. In 1978 they lost the final to Argentina but Cruyff was not there, a huge handicap and in 2010 final was unlucky.
jxm Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Alright Holland Netherlands go get it, undo the curse of no european country ever winning the title in South America! And then enjoy the game on sunday. The Silver Medal will look gorgeous together with that oh so lovely orange :D
Kpnut Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 After last night's match this one is kinda dull. Also surprised at Robben's lack of swan dives and the fact Messi hasn't had a roundhouse kick to the face yet.
jxm Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Well, that's football between evenly matched and mentally stable teams ... whoever wins that, also don't expect a firework of goals in the final...
OverClocked56 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 They are both playing the same, trying not to lose positions and waiting for a rivals mistake. Argentina always tries to play rather slow and accelerating near the area and Netherlands accepted that way, at least for the moment. This game is pure strategy.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Argentina is playing better this game. Still Messi needs the ball more. But overall both teams are playing with caution, which slows down the excitement. At this rate it looks like it'll go to over time.
...0... Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Come on Holland kick argentina back to argentina
