Perhaps people appreciate pithy nuggets of wisdom as well?

I like things I like.

If someone says something witty/important/something I agree with, I'll like it.. because.. well... I like it.

Same with mods.

Surprisingly enough, I get more likes from my tutorial guides than my mods ;)

Personally i can say that i have  gotten most of the the likes from posting to "Show your Skyrim counterpart..." thread ;).

I gotta say, I usually just like posts that offer some deep insight or joke or have some new brilliant idea. I actually don't like the posts of most of the mods I download, I honestly have no reason or excuse for that behaviour though. Though I do think if mod authors are doing this for the 'endorsements' or 'likes' then their mod isn't going to be as good as it could be if they were truly passionate about it. Then again I also don't understand the system of 'likes' and 'endorsements', I mean do people get anything out of them? Other than bragging rights?

Off-Topic:

Haha, nah I never made BodySlide, that honour is bestowed upon Caliente & Cell, with major contribution from stuffed_bunny.

Those guys are the real heroes, I just got bored and drunk one day and was angry at the lack of guides and documentation and decided to do something after lurking on these forums ever since skyrim was released (or close to it). Gotta say I enjoy the current company immensely.

You get nothing out of likes, for me it's only showing appreciation for screenshot or command nothing more.

If i don't get likes i don't realy care, i still post and still place screenshots.

I got 50+ likes for testing and translating mods, and helping members of LL to understand how mods work and get things working AND I'm not acting like an asshole.  :)

Share and the world will enjoy.

Should modders be treated godly over regular members? They're just as normal as any human who have 12 fingers, 12 toes, 3 eyes, two genitalia. I think the one's with 10 fingers, 10 toes 2 eyes and 1 genitalia deserves the likes. they're just different... in a oldly fetish way...

Also, this forum used the have a politics sub-forum, and you know how that goes: The ones who say the most abusive, hateful, extremist, misanthropic, xenophobic bullshit get the most likes; I remember a post saying male victims of domestic violence aren't entitled to get any kind of help because they aren't "statically important" enough, and got like 7 likes or so for that.

I came here to see digital bewbs. I disagree. Likes do mean something. It shows you appreciate what a modder has done. It can show new comers that you are an active member and seems to be liked or you have cool, funny things to say. If you don't like someone's comment then there's no need to click the green button. If people look at it as an importance and feel almighty about it, that's them.

It sure is better than having the old system Nexus had where you can thumb up or down someone's comment. Too many immatures spamming the thumbs down on a comment. On intellectual constructive comments that are not trolling someone's work., but to them you are an impolite. See this retardedness happen all the time on yahoo news articles on the comment section. I don't think it's really a big deal. If it is to most, perhaps they should (if not already done) to remove this from the comment so you don't have to see the likes.

I'll use an example. I have over 1k vies on my profile. Most of those are by me, because I am always chilling in my profile and updating it. I turned off the people who see my profile. Not that it's a big deal but it doesn't bother me. If people care to look, cool. If not, I'm not gonna fuss about it and throw a temper because I need to be in the spot light. I just go there and hang out because it's my little space on the LL where I can dormant while I'm on here.

I liked your comment because I well... I like it and the fact that cat in your avatar is playing a fucking guitar!

post a bunch pictures of (haf)naked plastic girls with insane big boobs, and you get plenty of them, btw like's don't mean anything just like post count

Not true, most pics that get likes have small to medium boobs. If insane boobed girls got likes I would be rolling in them but I'm not and I don't care.

I'm not a karma whore either and honestly I don't appreciate threads like the show your character thread where people just farm likes like candy. It's just a number next to your name it means nothing. I know some people on here that have over 1000 likes just from that thread which is ridiculous.

Like post counts, I don't give a fat rat's ass how many I have or not. Same with likes, they're nice, but in the end mean nothing. You notice I have about 70+ likes and maybe 900+ posts, and I've been here since almost the day Ashal started the forum. The only thing I'm concerned about is the smooth running of these forums and getting mods into the hands of players who will enjoy them. I'm not much of a modder myself, but I try and help out as best I can.

Me too. Besides tutorial I created I got the vast majority of likes by going the extra steps in trying to help people resolve their issues with mods. Just because someone doesn't mod doesn't mean that they aren't contributing to the community. Very much like you blabba.

Contributions like this is a major event. I am clicking likes on a individual that is creating new and better animations for Sexout. Each one that he creates I send a like to. It is the only way to really show that his work is appreciated. Often times that is the only way to show someones effort is appreciated. When I see someone working hard on something I click like to show my appreciation.

Agreed. Many of those individuals with an unusually high ratio likes / post are those that are working to aid others in various aspects of gaming or some are getting likes because they gave a smile to the reader (person that posted that like) .

There are individuals here that give likes regularly to others because of people like Slammer64 and blabba that gives help and aid to the community. I was given contributor status not because of mod creation but because of my assistance of many junior members getting their mods working proper as well as some aid to the modders with simple tech issues and resolutions for their users so that they could concentrate and create / fix mods for our consumption.

Anytime I see someone go out of their way to help someone that deserves that help I will have no problem giving likes. Likes are like thank you. They aren't necessary but are nice and polite way of saying I like what you just did. This can help encourage others to do the same. Helps create a positive environment for the members here on LL. That is likely the reason there isn't a "HATE" button... lol.
