Tentacus Posted June 4 Posted June 4 (edited) PROBLEMATIC FAVES PRESENTS: The first published game from Tentacus, the creator of Hardship: -beggar-whore-, and Notice me Senpai: COMING AUGUST 11. WISHLIST NOW ON STEAM: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4712500/Legacy_of_Subjugation/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GET THE DEMO HERE! TRIGGER WARNING: This game is about being subjected to human trafficking and may contain content which would be upsetting to anyone dealing with sexual trauma. DESCRIPTION: Legacy of Subjugation is a dark erotic visual novel with high replayability. As with my Bethesda mods this game has an extremely strong emphasis on roleplaying. It is Influenced and inspired by the dialogue systems in games like Fallout and Dragon Age Origins as much as Japanese and western eroge such as Bible Black, Ravager, Realms of Bondage, Claire's Quest, and Seeds of Chaos. STORY: You step into the role of Sofie, a university student who suddenly returns home for a 21st birthday party which her aunt had unexpectedly sprung on her. She is told that she will finally learn a secret she's been wanting to know for years, but in the end, will learning the truth be worth what it costs her? Sofie will find herself cast into a terrifying life of sex-slavery. What will she do to survive? Is there any hope of escape, or is the best she can hope for simply holding on to her own soul? GAMEPLAY: You can think of Legacy of Subjugation is kind of a reverse sex-slave trainer game. In a typical trainer game the player character is conditioning someone, slowly over time in order to corrupt them into becoming a slave. In LoS, you are doing the opposite, trying to resist the conditioning that Sofie is being subjected to. Of course how much or how little you choose to do so is up to you. Many stats are tracked, both hidden and shown which control the way that Sofie evolves as a character as the game progresses. They also decide which of the 14 possible endings she gets. These are set by frequent dialogue and action choices. If you have played my earlier mods you may have some idea what to expect. HIGHLIGHTS: NO EARLY ACCESS, NO PATREON, NO EPISODES, NO CONTENT PATCH... JUST A FINISHED GAME: It can be frustrating how many adult indie games on Steam seem to be in a permanent state of fund raising and early access. Some of those games are among my favorites even. Let me be clear there is nothing wrong with that, but I wanted to go a different way and was in a position to do so. I've worked tirelessly on Legacy of Subjugation for the last 3 years. it is a complete game and will be in a polished state at launch. 🤞 ROLEPLAYING FIRST: As with my mods I'd prefer if people look at LoS as an experience to be had not a game to try to win. Along the way Sofie will meet an exciting, eclectic, and diverse cast of characters. Even the worst villains have an inner life and their own motivations. It's up to you to decide who Sofie is and who (or what) she will become. DYNAMIC PRESENTATION: Legacy of Subjugation features a lot of interesting and cinematic lighting and camera angles. including some POV scenes. It has a lot more camera movement and changing of perspective than is typical in a visual novel. Limited animation and sound effects bring the sex scenes to life. The game features a varied and lavish musical soundtrack featuring classical works of chopin, and a wide variety of awesome tracks by Holizna. A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF SEX... BUT NOT A NUKIGE: Legacy of Subjugation may well set a record for the most nudity in any Steam game. It has a truly stupid amount of sex and BDSM scenes... even so the primary purpose of this game is not gooning. While scenes can be quite erotic (and at times quite disturbing) The raison d'être for this game is the exploration of survival in an unfair world of dehumanizing depravity... a world where the ultra wealthy prey on the rest of us... a world of hardship. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I announced my game here at LL first because this community is what got me started in gamedev. The page is live now if you are at all interested... or even if you just want to help me out for my past mod work, then please tell your friends and wishlist Legacy of Subjugation now on Steam NOTHING helps raise the visibility of indie games more than wishlists... and I only have two months to build them before release. The Steam page also has some animated gifs, more screenshots, and the trailer. Thanks to @JB. and @requiredname65 for playtesting during the VERY early development Their recommendations were very helpful and the game would suck a lot more without them. Tentacus Posted June 4 Author Posted June 4 Now that I've posted this I have a bunch to do but will check back later to see if anybody has any questions. 1
Tentacus Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 Here is something fun. As part of the development process I created GI Joe style file cards for characters in the game. They are all written from the perspective of the Evil doctor character. Here are a couple of the less spoilery ones. Note that the details and information in these may have changed in the final version of the game. The big mike character only appears in one scene and has no lines or actions of note so that might tell you how much thought went into every character in the game. I've redacted any major spoilers (*****): If anybody has any questions about the game I'll be happy to answer them. That includes things about gameplay, writing, art, and sound design... as I did all of them. 🤓 2
Tentacus Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 (edited) Because my game took so long to be vetted by Steam, I missed the deadline to sign up for nextfest. I'm still going to try to get a demo out by next week. Here are a couple more of those file cards: Edited June 10 by Tentacus 3
Tentacus Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 Steam approved my demo at the last minute... so even though I missed the Next fest deadline I at least have my demo out a couple of days before it. It'd be a huge help to me if you check it out and maybe leave a review on the demo page if you like it You can download it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4837430/Legacy_of_Subjugation_Demo/ 1
Marwyn72 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Is there some other way to play the demo than via steam? In some countries, it is blocked... 🥴 1

At the moment Steam is the easiest place to self publish. (Itch is a total censorship shitshow now) At some point I will probably try to get the game up on JAST, as I think the content is a good fit there and I like the store, but for now I just want to concentrate on getting it out on Steam. Thanks for the interest though.

13GGGG Posted June 16 Posted June 16 This is a really great game. What is the price of the full version?😋
fred200 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Win or lose, the rest of us frogs applaud you making the jump from our pond to the big lake. Hoping for a big win for you!

Tentacus Posted June 18 Author Posted June 18 (edited) PRE-RELEASE UPDATE: It's been a busy week. Despite missing the sign up deadline for next fest I've gotten (relatively) a lot of exposure and some positive feedback on the demo. I joined Reddit for the very first time. and have been posting a lot in r/lewdgames to feed their karma system. By some miracle I was able to post about the game and got 17,000 views so far. Fap next Kindly added my demo to their tagged database of all the nextfest demos despite my technically not participating. I added Steam achievements to the game. No achievements are awarded until after the demo section so Demo saves should remain fully compatible with the full game. (Not that replaying 30 minutes is a hardship anyway 😛) I've continued playtesting and debugging the uploaded version to make sure no bugs manifest in the compiled version that didn't in the SDK. (Spoiler alert they did... 🤓 but only a couple of easily fixed syntax errors so far) I'm timing this playthrough. Nearly 5 hrs in so far and don't feel like I'm that close to the middle yet. The game might actually end up being longer than the 10 hrs I estimated... or I am just a slow-ass player. (Probably the latter) Either way though the game really does have a lot of replay value. I've played through the game many times during development, and it's a no bullshit testament to how good it is that I still enjoy it... in fact though it's slightly embarassing to admit I got a little turned on during testing yesterday since I was actually Roleplaying the game how I play other people's games for basically the first time, since the game is very polished at this point and I can relax a bit more while playing. Tentacus Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 (edited) Pre-release playtesting of 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 proceeds apace. I'm finally doing a truly timed playthrough. Already past 10 hours with at least 20% of the game left. This is longer than I'd estimated. For those worried that that's not enough content... don't be. It's densely packed and has a massive amount of replay value. Edited June 19 by Tentacus
Skelletoncz Posted June 22 Posted June 22 I haven't played the demo yet. But I'll definitely try it. For now, I'm wondering if you plan to translate the game into other languages. It seems like there will be quite a lot of text to read. 🙂

It seems like there will be quite a lot of text to read. 🙂 Most likely not... mainly because I feel like my writing style won't translate well and expense wise the only one that really pays to do is simplified chinese... but eventually who knows. I've got plenty on my plate now just getting exposure... especially since I missed the Nextfest deadline. As far as the reading yes there are over 130,000 words... but it's presented in pretty bite sized chunks. One thing I typically don't like about other people's VNs is big paragraphs of text, so the most you see at any time is two lines. (Except the ending slideshows) Edited June 22 by Tentacus
My country and its market are actually small enough to make it worthwhile to invest in translation. Luckily, Steam has a Workshop at its disposal. With its help, there will definitely be enthusiasts who would translate texts into their native language for others. And even if you have an unconventional writing style, I believe that my language offers a fairly extensive collection of words. And a skilled individual can evaluate it very well. I liked the demo. Even though I was only guessing at the plot itself. I definitely intend to buy the original when it comes out. Even though I'm not one of the wealthiest people... But I believe that I will find the necessary money for it somewhere. I have always liked your work. Both in Fallout 4 and in Skyrim SE. I wish you continued success in fulfilling everything you plan for the future. 1

Tentacus Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 I sent keys out to curators yesterday. Already have one glowing review of a highly dubious nature given the fast turn around but hey... I'll take it... and they did say nice things about the character designs having a lot of personality... which I agree with. Here's the last couple of file cards I can find: Originally I thought about these being unlockables you could get from in game actions but I abandoned that entire concept as the game evolved. In the end I left out any unlockables (Other than the cheevos) Like a Gallery (which are common in visual novels) because the heavy branching and roleplaying focus of my game... and the interactive nature of some sex scenes made it pretty impractical (and frankly unnecessary.)
Cheng9999 Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Hey man, I'd love to download the demo and wishlist the game, but it's blocked where I live, (Germany) Do you think there's any other way to buy/download it once it's released? :)

For now I'm just concentrating on getting it out for Steam but if all goes well I might see if I can get it on JAST as I generally prefer to buy my VNs from there. They don't have a huge amount of western games on there but they do have a few like Seeds of Chaos. I'm Pretty sure you'd be able to buy it, if I was able to get it on there. The game is way too problematic to be put on Itch since the purge. Edited June 24 by Tentacus 1
