Veladarius Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 One of our testers is having an issue with the starting dialogue on a quest, trying to sort it out now.

vipermagi Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Combat will pause the scene until it ends but it usually does not stop the dragon from attacking. If the Master was out there she would kill it pretty quickly. I've never tried to engage the Master in a battle, and this quote makes me think you might have made her do an insane amount of damage. My only question is did you account for people who run both Deadly Dragons on it's hardest setting and Dragon Combat Overhaul together? Given the games description (which is inconsistent at best with itself), I still think Dragonrend should force dragons to rag doll out of the air. They say it causes dragons to experience what it means to be mortal, something they don't normally understand, and that it rips them out of the sky.

I use Deadly Dragons, during the end of one of the new scenes that takes place outside 2 dragons attacked, a regular and one that breathes lightning. The regular one was dead as soon as it landed (almost as soon as combat ended), the other lasted a little longer as it kept flying circles around the shop. The Master is a very high level mage and very advanced in Destruction.
mybrainhurts Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Does the estate have guards outside? That should take care of the dragon problem when the player is otherwise, umm, occupied.
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Yes, there are 2 always on duty outside and the guard captain wanders around during the day as well.
razgriz416 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 The suspense is killing me! No really, I heard "SexLab" and "Quests" in the same sentence, and I've been drooling over this update ever since.

Zydar Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I think they are waiting for the Devious Toilet to be released first (joking of course )
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Some of my testers want until Friday to go through things a bit more and I am going to give it to them. I know, "Boooo!" Since we have not figured out why the starting dialogue for one quest does not work for one of them I am concerned that it will not work for a number of people. The quest is one of the non repeatable ones and is not built to be reset so that isn't really an option. I have faith in my testers, the have done a great job with finding things that I missed.

A mod your size would need a lot of grounds to cover and having a group of testers trying to break your mod would be one way of finding most of the faults/bugs within it. I feel that going thorough with it would be the best option for everyone instead of us finding a game breaking bug which you would need to quickly fix after release.
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 I am going to focus on adding dialogue to some of the npc's while they check over things.
Agnes_ Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I for one think is great you're taking the time to get it right, thanks for all the hard work Veladarius and all your testers!

taylor Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Out of curiosity, how many lines of code/dialogue does the update have? It sounds like an impressive effort.
Draco355 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Well, the wait isn't unreasonable for a weekend release if that's what you're gunning for... ...especially with Legend of Grimrock 2 being out today to occupy everyone for a while! Lets just hope you don't get too crazy with trying to obtain "perfection" though.
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 This was something I totaled up earlier: This is a breakdown of all the quests and the amount of npc dialogue and total number of phases in any scenes it has: Quest - dialogue / phases - Gold is new content, red is removed content Confiscation - 19 / 0 Customer Assist - 250 / 97 ExpQuest01 - 105 / 39 ExpQuest02 - 433 / 375 ExpQuest03 - 101 / 50 ExpQuest04 - 111 / 59 Free trial - 83 / 45 MP01 (shop punishment) - 15 / 22 MP02 (exterior punishment) - 43 / 43 MP03 (basement punishment) - 89 / 69 Package Delivery - 156 / 5 Question and Answer - 106 / 0 Delivery Recovery - 13 / 0 Device Removal (belts etc) - 57 / 0 Severe Device Removal (gags etc) - 60 / 0 Errand for De'Zra - 33 / 0 Old Delivery quest - 142 / 0 - replaced by Package Delivery Assistant Dialogue - 71 Surprise Dialogue - 52 Guard Dialogue - 7 Manor General Dialogue - 17 Master's Dialogue - 104 Mine General Dialogue - 14 / 3 Slave Dialogue - 6 Smith's Dialogue - 27 VIP house Dialogue - 2 Total npc dialogue 1974 lines, 1074 of it is new. There have been a few additions to that but nothing major. As for scripts and lines of code there are currently 852 scripts most of which are scattered within the dialogue and scenes and are fairly short. There are a few scripts that are larger, 1000 - 2000+ lines, but these are limited to the major quests and the framework I have set up to handle a lot of often used functions. While that seems like a lot there are very few instances where a script is constantly running in the background and those only check things once every few hours in game (almost all only check once).
Kalthen Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I think it is a great thing that you go the extra mile to improve the quality of your creation. It is growing huge and you have a lot of CD fans who respect your work. A good clean base to build upon is always better for future additions. So patience CD padawans(f5,f5,f5 hehe)... take your time . BTW I love the heartfire bondage furniture idea. I never used the HF houses on a modded game, so this would actually give me a reason to build one again. On that note, does anyone know a good, simple, not over the top house mod with a prinson/dungeon area in it? So far I kow of: the bathhouse (way to big for my taste), a farmhouse from this site, the prison house of paradise halls... Any ideas?

Evil lair of hydra is pretty good for a dungeon house mood though it doesn't have all the glamorous things larger house mods have like auto storage and places to put daedric atrifacts
Kalthen Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I was thinking more of a simple house with a nice play area and no additional npcs. More and more I quite like the idea of the HF addition. You have my endorsement allready Vel .
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 While adding items to an empty space is not difficult I want to have a way to remove existing items for those who want to change an existing room. Other than Hearthfire the only house mod I use is Dev Aveza airship. There have been others I have liked but a number of them caused issues or they just went overboard on textures (needed to use the rooms and portals).
badbat111 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 how do you make a house i have the hearthfire dlc but i didnt get any event saying of houses to build no letters or any thing

If you must, never remove it ever until you are done with that character you're playing with (or make a backup before installing it). The same goes for "Faeries in Skyrim".
