I've just realized that children aren't killable in NV, similar to Skyrim. You can't even target them. In the first two games you could. There even was a perk called "Child Killer". This is bastardisation of Fallout and is typically Bethesda. Dumb down everything, try to appear politically correct. They don't let you kill children, but just because you are given a contract, assassinating a poor hapless guy who mourns for his dead sister is perfectly okay. Fuck them. I hope everyone in Bethesda/Zenimax gets buggered by 10000 legionnaires. I'm sure they'd love it as they seem to have a special love for anything Roman.

Combat/mounted combat was pathetic in every Bethesda game I've played so far. VATS in NV looks decent and fun at first, but you then realize that it takes 5-6 bullets to the head to take down an unarmored human opponent!

To avoid additional programming they give you a world with "essential" characters which cannot be killed. Yeah, you can't kill children, but you also have to let characters like Maven Black-briar live.

I'm sorry, but how you can still expect a half decent game from these fuckers is beyond my comprehension. Although I still prefer their games to the likes of Call of Duty.

Sorry for the tone of this post if it sounds a bit harsh, but I'm so pissed off at the unkillable children thing right now. *Searches for a killable children mod*

Yep missed those too, the classic fo1 and fo2 bought them on gog its very cheap :)

Well main reason beth dumbed it down cause they worry about profits if they get a rating cause of killable children most likely the game would be banned in many countries so -minus profits. Look at gta.

Thats why beth left modding open, beth's trademark is to let people finish the game, i mean fo3 and nv is so unfinished thats why there are so many cut contents. And with a vats mod that doesnt give you invurnerability and realistic mod, vats is only situational and camera mods for vats priceless.

Combat can easily fixed by adding a realism mod, check FWE or PNV.

Yeah beth/obs don't want to waste their time to program so many codes for outcomes so they took the short path and added essential npcs.

Most likely FO4 will be good but what will make it rise is modding, I mean heck oblivion "HAS A SHTLOAD OF JAPANESE MODDERS UP TO NOW" and oblivion is still alive after so many years cause of modding.

After paying outrageous prices to their games, why would anyone want to fix every goddamn thing they left incomplete by using 3rd party mods and utilities? That's the real problem with their games. Modding is done to add new stuff, not to fix bugs left out by the developers. Just look at Skyrim's huge Unofficial patches. That can only show that the game is full of bugs, and guess what, with their latest Skyrim patch, they broke more stuff than they actually fixed! Typical Bethesda...

We are so used to play their games with hundreds of mods, ranging from patches to graphical improvements, we forget that the game we play isn't actually the game we paid for. Zenimax/Bethesda should give at least half of their revenue to modders, not just for picking up after the developers, but increasing the longevity of their games, hence letting them sell more games.

I bought FO3 and FNV for 5 bucks each and honestly they aren't worth anymore than that. I'll probably do the same for FO4.

Yeah I suppose they "fix" it by increasing the damage amount or something like that, but that can only work for a game with guns. Skyrim, on the other hand, would need a much bigger overhaul for its combat system to get close to being half decent.

Fallout 4 or New Vegas 2, Hope it is FO4 but I also hope they get rid of crap that no-one wants, test shit loads before releasing, don't patch and break more then trying to fix. better AI, kill the fade to black crap it is 18 for a reason. Raiders more then likely will make a come back, but let us get within 10 feet before they become hostile add a clapped out vehicle you have to get parts for, get rid off fast travel either run or drive, fuel is scarce. or better still make a blog so players can put in suggestions, and what gets the most votes makes it in to the game, give players what they want, not what they don't want. And my favorite KILL THE CONSOLE COMMANDS.  Keep it off GFWL and STEAM. And modding software that actually works correctly... And if Fallout 4 NO FUCKING VAULT-TEC or growing up in a bloody Vault.... Nuclear Fallout would also give more grotesque creatures then the dumb looking things in FO3 and NV

All I can say, is the next fallout sequel is going to be very different. Considered it a  next gen game. 2k+ standard textures. I'm thinking it will look better than Skyrim. I don't see why not. TES and Fallout is their bread and butter. I'm thinking it will be sitting on a much better game engine. Not just an upgraded Gamebyro.

Only reason why I've come to this conclusion is because it's been a little over 3 years since FNV and still no teaser/trailer. And between FO3 and FNV, it's only been a two year gap. That's gotta say something. I know TES: Online is all the hype going on right now. And perhaps that's majority of the reason why there's nothing mentioned about a new Fallout sequel. I mean this is going to be Bethesda's first MMO so wrapping it up before it's official launch in 2014 has got the devs working hard.

All I want is a Fallout game that feels like a post-apocalyptic game. Hazardous surroundings. Toxic environment. Along the lines of Dead Money's world. And I don't want the game to be so damn political. I don't care who wants power. I just want to complete my objective and adventure the hazardous world and encounter interesting individuals. Friends and foes.

And yes, like someone mentioned.... better character creation. Okay, well that doesn't bother me. I create my own characters. But put more emphasis in this department. You've already proven what an ass slapped on a face looks like.

No.

You are wrong.

No.

Hmm, I've never found the console commands to be that big of a problem, other people use them all the time and it doesn't ruin my game :)

If anything they are damn handy for debugging, without the console we'd never debug some of the more complex mods.

The problem is: it makes no damned sense to have that environment based on the Fallout canon chronology.  Fallout 3 itself makes no sense.  It's been two centuries since the bombs fell.  America built itself from one coast to the other in the time that the series has given since the war took place.  Hiroshima and Nagasaki rebuilt themselves from actual nuclear destruction in less than 40.   I suppose we could quibble over the lack of available foreign aid, but c'mon.

This is what Hiroshima looks like today.

The game's original creators themselves say that the Fallout series is now a post-post apocalyptic game.   Humanity is rebuilding, and human society is starting to gain momentum.  NV makes some degree of actual sense, based on the way humans behave.  They rebuild, eventually grouping together and gaining strength, forming larger states and nations, and those nations start fighting amongst themselves.

Don't get me wrong, it's fine to want to play a post-apocalyptic game.  Just understand that you don't want to play a new Fallout game if you do.  The franchise has its own history, and its history is past that point.   The only way to make it that way is to do what Bethsoft did with FO3, and ignore all the details of the series to make a game that is a fun post-apoc game, but makes no tangible sense in the larger scope of the franchise.

I barely play the game at all anymore.  I use the console for things like this:

And they would take me months and months to do without it.  Easiest way to disable the console is to never press the tilde key.

But if it's BORING (like Skyrim) there will be no 'fixing it'.

I don't think Skyrim's boring. Vanilla is huge, only at my 5 game I realized I found everything behind it. With mods I did 14 playthroughs from lv 1 to being quite levelled (50/90), before giving up and going back to NV because in the end I'm not that much for fantasy worlds (this means I abused of FO definetely much more than Skyrim...).

Also, running behind a ball and kicking it could seem boring for some people, still half world do it since ever and will do it still for a long time. Me, I find boring every other game that is not Skyrim and Fallout. These titles are playgrounds where you definetely can do whatever you want, this is the real reason why I never complained about bugs or anything else. So until FO 4 will be moddable in the same fantastic way as the predecessors, giving all these possibilities, it will be for me the greatest title ever, because you can't be bored by your own creativity. You're very creative, would you deny this sentence? :)

Do whatever you want? Sure, with mods. Without mods, it's a shallow experience. To say that the game is amazing because you can make it into your own game...That's just asinine. I've mentioned this before; you can do the same with demos you get along with game engines. The demos themselves are boring, bland, 5 minute long tests. But you can indeed modify them, even into something great with due dilligence. But that does not make the demo great.

Not exactly my point. I played vanilla a lot, in all the 3 titles (Skyrim FONV and FO3), and I loved it. After I started with mods, I never came back to vanilla because I found with mods it was 100 times better. What's why I love and thanks modders. But I don't see it like those demos you say (I don't exactly know what they are but maybe I can figure it, I saw some videos somewhere).

I think to those demos like a box with planks, a hammer, some nails, where they say ok now you have everything you need, just start building something nice.

Now Bethesda titles are something more than a box with planks and nails. They created a lore, a wonderful background and landscape, they filled it with a story (that I really loved), in this way they have collected thousands peoples with the same passion, and gave them the possibility to work together to make a better game. This is why I believe IV will be great, because it already has inherited this all. An example is on the forum of my country it's many days we just speak about this survivors page and it is updated and followed continuously by anyone. For me (and for what I see in that forum), Fallout is more than a game. If one day one of those demos will achieve the same, I'm sure I'll play it and who knows maybe I'll like it.

UPDATE :)

New picture from leaks : post-8123-0-59156000-1384707521_thumb.jpg

Also rough english translation from new audio file :

What would I do without you with a heart Sleeping This time stopped to watch dial What would I do without you that stammering ? I learned everything from you on things human And I saw now the world your way I learned everything from you, as we drink from the fountains As we read in the sky the distant stars Since the passing singing his song is taken I learned all of you to feel the thrill What would I do without you which wines to meet me What would I do without you with a heart Sleeping This time stopped to watch dial What would I do without you that stammering ? I learned everything from you, for my part , It is day at noon, a sky can be blue, That happiness is not a lamp tavern You ‘ve taken me by the hand in this modern hell Where man no longer knows what it is to be both You ‘ve taken me by the hand like a happy lover What would I do without you which wines to meet me What would I do without you with a heart Sleeping This time stopped to watch dial What would I do without you that stammering ? Who speaks of happiness often sad eyes , Is it not a sob of disappointment , A string of broken fingers guitarist ? Yet I tell you that happiness is Elsewhere in the dream , other than the bare , Earth, Earth, here ‘s unknown harbors What would I do without you which wines to meet me What would I do without you with a heart Sleeping This time stopped to watch dial What would I do without you that stammering ?

WEll, FO4...I am intrigued, though not surprised. That franchise shouldn't be neglected, it'll bring good money and

fill the time until the next (single) Edler Scrolls Game will arrive (I am more a fantasy person I'll admit)

And reading across this thread I'll just add my worthless 2 cents: Fallout 3 was a fun game, and so FNV. And I find it amusing

that people criticize Bethesda for not having brothels, porn studios or killable children it their games. Dumbing down? Sure, I'd do

the same thing in their stead because, you know...making money is their game. Profit. And adding too many adult themes will limit this.

Evil, capitalistic world isn't it? B)  Hmm...but then, communists do not play games at all (except chess :D )

Though what's generally forgotten is: Bethesda keep their games as moddable as could be (in comparison to other companies)

And due to that you have nudity, sex, brothels, killable children, slavery, beastiality and everything your perverted heart desires...

So if Bethesda keeps this up (and takes some inspiration from New Vegas) I guess FO4 will make me happy. Eventually. Three years after

release when people have added pervertism...
