FALLOUT 4 is getting update on April 25

It would be easier just to block Steam with firewall and forget about updates (unless you want to update...).

Steam just downloaded a FO4 Creation Kit update for me today.

No doubt it is not compatible with the old version.

Hmm... Steam keeps resetting the Automatic Updates option to keep it updated whenever I run Steam - I can set to only when launch, completely exit steam, relaunch it and its back to auto.

 

Toddy really rreally wants to give me the gift of the update.

 

This behaviour is not occuring for any other game.

we should all message steam on allowing a setting for no updates.  anyone new to the game should get GOG version.  I refuse to pay any more for this game, fallout 4 was the last game of that company i will spend money on.  I believe the game company simple does not care that modders have kept their game going way past the time interest should of ended.  This is simply a money grab from the TV show.  Fallout 3 and new vegas had much better writing and story.  fallout 4 to give an example makes you leader of the minutemen, then no main faction NPC ever knows or refers to your being the general of the minutemen, you can still join the brotherhood, which when you ask your duties says you can have no other side jobs, join and still do minutemen quests.  I have played it a lot because of mods, and I like building settlements. but if they force the update thru and it ruins the mods, I simply will no longer play.  I have a couple small mods, but I am not really a modder. But I feel empathy for the modders that in their free time keep the game going, only to be screwed over, sepecially right now the people making the London mod, that was due to be released the in april but is still on hold due to the next gen update.

Pointless. In the past Valve allowed games to not be updated. They changed it to try to force updates a few years ago, so why would they reverse course?

People who watched to show and liked it and never played are going to buy the game anyway.  People who already have the game are going to play it anyway, but BGS doesn't make any money off of that.

 

Instead, BGS incurs development costs for time and programmers to work on the update, then gives it away for free.  BGS also gives away for free Creation Club content that they paid outside modders for.

lol, BGS broke the modded game.  the new people will buy it anyway, unless the read the reviews, and the people with broken games, will buy it again from GOG, so they can be assured they can avoid the mod breaking update.

 

that money they spent, and the hours of hard work LOL to bring out a mess for the pc and Xbox, and less so but also on PS5, makes me believe due to the quality of the update, IE besides breaking mods it does not work as the patch notes say it works, says to me THEY did not work hard on the update, they did not spend a lot of time on the update, the update was just to get in the news and attract more players.

 

As for the creation club content if it is the same kind of stuff as the skyrim AE content they gave out, lets just say I can fish now, I am not sure why I want to fish, it is so simple I tried it twice, and sold the fishing pole. lol

 

I hope some people read my review and play Fallout new vegas to learn about not fallout 4

Did you update and roll back? If so, you will not get the error until there is another update.

 

Edit: Just checked and it doesn't display an error anymore, just a pending update. Check your update settings in Steam again - Steam has reset mine from 'Only update this game when I luanch it' back to 'Always keep this game updated'. It likes to do that periodically.

 

 

No rollback or anything.

 

It's just still pending update, till I launch the game

 

And still set to - only update when launch.

Just replaced (backed my one up) my appmanifest with the modded one, and steam thinks my game is up to date!

It happened as I foresaw... but years ago my wife (she's the nerd in our family) gave me a vanilla installation of "Skyrim" and "Fallout" because of my frequent reinstallations after failed mod attempts 4" on an external hard drive - which I only need to copy into the current game directory with an "atomic option" (deleting the game and completely reinstalling it).

Since I have a lot of mods for "Fallout 4" in particular - the authors of which have not been active for years - I will never upgrade my vanilla game!

Currently the most frequently used mod on Nexus is -> the one for downgrading

I think it's great that old games are updated.. I don't like sitting on my hands for several weeks waiting and hoping all my mods will be compatible/updated to fit the update any more then you do but I won't have to look around for a new game to pour all my free time and interest into. it's a shame the guys on Fo London got wrecked like this. their DLC did look interesting.
