Spyder Arachnid Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 On this same note, if you're running a mod heavy game, make sure you have automatic updates disabled in Steam for Fallout 4. Don't need a surprise update ruining your meticulously crafted modded game. Wait till F4SE and some mods update first before installing the new update. Plus giving it some breathing time in case of game-breaking bugs. And as for the update, I'm looking forward to the Enclave stuff. Sounds pretty neat. 2
venomr Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Does anyone know the app manifest id for fallout 4? I want to change settings so that update don't sneak in.
spoonsinger Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 I have the GOG version currently installed via installer, (rather than Galaxy). So nope not going to effect me at all, (unless it is really really good - which I doubt).

ebbluminous Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 So potentially mod breaking update 2 days after Fallout London lands. Hmm...

NickNozownik Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 So from what I can see it doesn't add anything that would be worth reinstalling over 500 mods. It's already very stable and crashes are so rare they're not even worth mentioning. CC items that are going to be added for free look mediocre, I wouldn't use them and there's plenty of better mods on the Nexus. In my opinion it doesn't look worthwhile even if it doesn't break mods. Will they fix the half assed static object hitboxes already? No? Ok. 1
Invictusblade Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 my hope is the "Steam Deck being verified" or "stability, Mods, and Bug Fixes" means that they 'might' fix some of the driver issues with newer systems. because that still drives me nuts however my current load orders seems to have no major issue yet (however I barely started a new game) *I need to start finishing off quest mods 1
South8028 Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 I was hoping for an engine update and full rtx support. For example, correcting the reflex refraction error. There are mirrors in the game, but the xyz axes of the tracing are swapped. Mirrors reflect the back of the head. Or new light/shadow technology. Or support for video format instead of uv animation. If there are no new ce technologies in this update, then this update is meaningless. 2
Blastik1 Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 I'm running about 450 mods and my game currently works fine (and I know for a fact that a lot of my fully working mods have been abandoned for ages, they will never be updated to run with the new FO4 update). AU will remain turned off. And as others have said, anything this update delivers could be had better from mods for far less hassle anyway. The folks on console aren't even getting more mod space apparently.

I set the game to only update when I launch the app in my Steam Library, but regarding this appmanifest_377160.acf all I need to do is mark this as Read-only, and if I accidentally launch the game this way instead of through F4SE I won't risk that bloody update from ruining my game and mod list?
ebbluminous Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Willing to bet a cookie that paid mods like the recent Skyrim will in it or not that far behind. Toddy needs more yachts,

That happened with SSE for me. I had the "Update only when game is lunched" option selected. It worked for a while, but then the game auto-updated anyway.

Hell, I even removed both of the games' launchers from MO2 to prevent them from doing that.
Hmm... The "Fallout London" modder group has therefore postponed their project indefinitely - they assume that the "Fallout 4" update will permanently damage their mod. Thanks for NOTHING Mr Asshole Todd H.
NickNozownik Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 7 hours ago, CrowOfItachi said: So, it's just going to be Skyrim AE all over again? Something like that but even less. Few mediocre CC items, some minor bug fixes here and there and that's it. More noticeable issues such as braindead AI, horrible pathfinding and bad hitboxes will remain untouched from what I can tell. It looks like they're updating it just to show that Fallout 4 still gets updates. I have no idea about the consoles part, I'm completely unfamiliar with them. I don't know what bugs they are going to fix, they might be so minor it barely makes any difference or it has been fixed by mods already.
