My hubby played the Beta, and said it was beautiful looking, but it is repetitive like other MMO's after Everquest.

So far, he calls it "World of Warcraft 2.0", because in order to play a particular race, you HAVE to be in an 'alliance' that the race is allowed in.

I played Everquest.  I liked that I could play a Dark Elf and work very hard to be on the "Good" side.  I also like the fact that I wasn't "Pidgeon" holed like most MMOs do today.  My husband tells me that ESO in fact does Pidgeon Hole players into one group or another.

The fact that ESO is going to be subscription based is kind of a good thing.   Why?

Well, I've played a number of 'free to play' games, like Guild Wars 1 and 2, Dungeons and Dragons online and though most of them start out okay, but they end up quickly dropping my interest after a short while.

There is not enough money to go into development and server support once you go FtP.   Basically, dry it up and file it under "done".   You'll have money spams, leveling scams even worse after that....

World of Warcraft died when the developers began catering to the PvP'rs and the "Gimme" players.   Once the game lost it's challenge and strayed from the lore of Warcraft... It was over... It's now World of Kung-Fu Panda...   If Blizzard makes WoW free to play... They might as well just shut down the servers and get rid of the support staff...

ESO has the potential to bring the Elder Scrolls lore and world to the MMORPG community, but only if they stay true to the Lore and don't cater to PvP or PvE>   (No more Class Balancing or Special gear)...

I hope they don't go overboard with the PvP crap...   If you want PvP, play Battlefield or Call of Duty... Leave Elder Scrolls alone.

If Elderscroll in multiplayer don't have pvp everywhere, its not elderscroll at all. Battlefield-CoD are for carebears btw no fun at all just dumb deathmatches no loss no risk.

if theyre smart, they will realize that itll go down the drain, and rebuild it as fast as possible for singleplayer. and of course release a ck, so that the specialists amongst the modders can fix all their fucking bugs (as usual) and the niche-modders (like me) can pick tiers of gear and overwork a couple of the gears designs. elder scrolls without modding ... morons. *sigh*

Or better, sell the game with the server and the client version so modders can create a whole new ES modded. That could be awesome, we could create quests for multiplayers etc. But not being able to impact the world as a player plus the 30+ PCs around each NPCs makes the game an obvious game. Goodbye immersion...

Heres my thoughts I played it for a bit while some of it was good (combat, crafting, story), a great deal needs to be redone specifically instancing, quests and quest npc respawn times. A hypothetical lets say theres a quest where you have to kill x but he has a 30 min to 1 hour respawn time and theres roughly 80+ waiting to kill him to advance the story your going to be waiting for hours for a tiny chance to get a hit in before he gets nuked thats not fun, not immersive, and sure as hell not lore friendly I could see something like that for a raid or pvp event maybe but for a quest no.

I reached level 10 just before abandoning (I wanted to stop earlier but I read somewhere than lvl10 allow fast travel and ALL I WANTED TO DO was exploring... PS: it didn't work).

The last 6 quests I played I never saw the boss in 3 of them, probably Deimos' issue too and 3 others, the boss was really too strong. I also had touch this to make the boss appear and it was already there for another player. So I helped the player, boss was killed. Nothing. I touch the sword, new boss appears, sure enough my "friend" left and... I'm dead...

So in other words it was really frustrating and I see no point in it being MMO. I played alone and the world does not change.

We even got the WOW extinguish those fires quest. And I'm like:

M: Wait fellow companion, don't jump into this it's burning with all the flames of Oblivion!!!

Oh no! Poor dude, he hasn't seen them quick let's save him!!!

H: What flames? There's no flame, I extinguished this fire.

But but it's burning!

NOPE. Not for me!

So we have contextualized world.

There is also the:

Yes my dear Dragonborn, try to help me find my little girl, she likes to play around the docks sometimes, hidden amongst the crates and dreaming of travel...

But, there's only 3 persons there! And the boat never move. I think your little girl (not a kid btw) is probably the 3rd NPC right there by the docks, the one surrounded by the 12 PCs you already asked that!

Oooh erm thank you hero of Daggerfall...

Let's not forget the:

I lost this tiny needle-brooch thingie years ago in the village of the Lesbian Zombies. Is there anyway you could retrieve it for me?

Well, I could try but you must give me some precision or a way to ... Wait!

Wait wait wait! Nope, no need! HAHAHA! I got a giant arrow in the sky pointing PRECISELY where you lost your brooch. Anyway, I can also simply follow the others 15 Hero going there right now too...

Now about the economy and the life there:

If you move you die, so most inhabitants decided to stay RIGHT there. This attitude made them develop a special way of communication, allowing to carry 12 or more conversations at a time. They also have pocket planes trunk for the merchandise as what someone sells to them will NOT be available for purchase with another customer...

In Daggerfall there is only ONE travelling merchant. It's probably because he's the only one able to hide from the Lesbian Zombies that are infesting the roads...

Beds are for decoration only. Nobody sleeps (I know I won't with all the LZ around)... The army and the guards never more or patrol. You're a hero and you saved the King but a horse worth probably 200+ full plated armor with swords... You'd think with that kind of money, the stable boy will be rich and go live somewhere nice... He can't! He must STAY there and never move.

Ok ok but that rant applies to every MMORPG so why are you going to such a rant you little cunt? Are you going to ask me.

Probably because the Elder Scrolls is NOT meant to become a MMORPG, or if you do it, please do us a favor and STOP pretending there is lore or immersion. In no point in the ß are you required to think or read anything. Just follow the little arrow and click the dialogues as fast as you can...

I stop there. Where's my email asking for feedback btw???

When i read this i became very SAD how the whole mmo has evolved after 2004 its in such  a terrible stage you could have nightmares about it.

Your reply convince me even more to avoid TESO like a nasty plague.

My problem with PvP is it is never implemented correctly.   Too many Griefers and special OP PvP gear.    Not enough Consequence for making the choices....    WoW did start it off ok... killing NPC's was Negative Honor.    Too many PvP whiners (thats not fair)... then as a new player, you have to wait until the PvPrs get tired of wiping out all your quest NPCs and Merchants so you can continue to play the character that you want.....

Everquest, had good PvP... on a PVP server.   Your name turned orange when you attacked another player, would go away after a bit.. but if it turned red... you could be killed by anyone...

I PvPd on the Alliance Side for WoW, but because of the "1000 Heros" , Alliance hardly won...  They spend most of their time waiting for the next Arena Match, Battleground or Dungeon crawl by griefing the other side's newbies...

If ESO has World PvP... and Everyone is equally geared, with no 'special' PvP gear or any crap like that.... and ESO implements penalties for attacking Non-Aggro NPCs and Quest Givers.... Then maybe we're talking about an Even Playing Field for PvP....

That way, PvE players don't have to 'suffer' because the PvP groups want to grief them.

I still don't like the idea of being "Pigeon Holed" into having to be a part of an Alliance just to play the Race you want....    I like my husband's idea, that all players start out in the general area of their race's prospective Alliance.   But they can choose to do a quest or something to change factions to another Alliance...regardless of their race.   (Why a quest?   Make it difficult enough so that the player has to work for it.   Otherwise they'll just cry and want to constantly change their minds... it has to be some mechanism that challenges them)

Anyway... I'm not a big PvP fan, basically because of all the wrong "Implementations" of it.    Actions should have consequence, negative or positive.   and PvP just lets people grief others without consequences unless it is done right.

I don't like PVP either. Okay, I lied a little. PVP can be fun. But most of the time it's not. I never really pvp'd in WOW. Tried some BG's, a few were fun, but most of the time it sucked.

The only open world PVP I did, was when I got ganked at low lvl, by some who was a coward, had no skill, and just ganked low lvls. I don't know how many times I logged any of my mains, and killed guys just by almost looking at them. That's when you realize they were just a low lifer.

Rift were the last game I PVP alot in. And I hated it to death. It was so unbalanced. First time I got into a BG, I could not scratch anyone at all. Everyone had superior pvp gear comparing to me. I was ready to give up. Then I came into another match, were player were around my level and that was so fun. No one were over geared, and every kill could had gone either way. Much more team work than say WOW. In Rift Team work were a must. And then the next match could end up like the first one. You were mostly just a free kill for the other team. I remember one game, we were 4 ppl trying to kill just one guy. His class had always been OP so we knew that, but he were just impossible to kill. He killed all 4 of us and I just sat there with my mouth wide open. He wasn't that well geared either. None of us were.

Thats when I said to myself, never PVP again. PVP will never be balanced. And most game modes are just copy/paste from other games.

A game were gear is everything will never be fun. A PVP game in ESO could be fun, if the combat is like the single player game. Or say. Chivalry.

In Chivalry you pretty much will lose if you start taking big unnecessary risk or not block an incoming at exact right time. Team work is the most important thing. A good way to practice this is to play Duel Mode. Sometimes that is even funnier that lets say Free For all Death match or something.

That kind of combat is something I like. Player skilled based combat. Were timing and to some degree trying to trick your opponent and make him make mistakes - is everything.

I learned that palying Age of Conan some years back, on a RP-Server woth open (whcih means almost EVERYWHERE) PvP. It eventually was the death of RP and the cause of much hatred flooding through the chats and whispers...

Open PvP always sounds good - on paper. But like many things if you bring the human factor in, it usually fails hard, if you don't regulate it. Just like we invented governments, laws and punishments to prevent humanity from relishing in chaos and anarchy. Open PvP only works with at least some restrictions imho. Even when it isn't " really open" anymore then...

PVP simply is the most powerful form of play, as you can "force" it on everyone else...you cannot force PvE on others, or RP...and "with great power comes great responsibility" ( ), which sadly is merely wishful thinking...^^

Sorry to have disgusted you from the game. As a fan of ES I needed to be clear, TESO is NOT absolutely not, a ES game...

As of PvP vs PvE well, same remars as for monsters on the road. One baker, two farmes, 500 heros of Kvatch and 600 little kids in shiny black armors with horns bullying low levels... That's experience in WoW and yes, TESO is a WoW clone. Even the quests are the same...

Sorry :(

Despite the plethora of bad reviews, I'm really itching to try it out.

Sadly I didn't get a beta invite so I'll have to wait till April :(

You guys who got beta invites are so lucky! I'd rather buy an account or invite to test it out than wait for 3 months :(

Haven't played it and don't intend to, the moment I heard there was PvP killed it for me. 2 million COD kiddies will ruin any kind of RP there might have been in the game. Like every other game that gets Multiplayer or turned into a MMO, twits think it's funny to spawn kill, grief as many people as they can in a relatively short period of time (EvE). Spam the bloody PvP button even when they have no intention of PvP'ing all they want to do is piss people off because they think it's funny to fuck with people that are actually trying to play the fucking game....No thank you, Brainless shits. I'll stick to my single player games and not have to deal with mindless mmo trolls. (children, childish adults, etc.).

I am eager to see how it turns out. Since Daggerfall I have wanted to be able to travel Tamriel, and now I would be able to. I just hope they make private instances, seeing people around every corner definitely killed immersion. But, even stepping back and looking at it as an MMORPG and not TES, I am skeptical of how it turns out. Its only beta, but they really Really need to push back their release date and rethink classes and skills. I hope they had more in mind and what was present was only for beta.

The problem when it comes to implementing open pvp is you will have to die with ragefull kids and lamer idiots jumping around like bunny and acting like asses.... This is why i stay away from moorpg.... First because i love to roleplay and moorpg don't offer much in that regard...In order to allow people to roleplay properly you have to set up a RP server with a strong moderation on it.. this to avoid the kiddies that want only trolling people...The worst part is also in that way a Moorpg to have nice RP opportunity must be tailored for it in the gameplay....All moorpg are just like... Grind grind grind.. lvl up lvl up lvl up...then grind grind grind for better gear... then lvl up lvl up lvl up....

I miss the good old times of the Ultima Online RP servers... There was nothing like PVP zoomgear....You use a skill and that grew up so in the end you can made by yourself your equip whitout have to raid a stupid boss and hope to get the right percentage of drop...

Every Moorpg mechanic today is just stupid and childish...

-Kill a full equip bandit and get a pouch with just 10 gold -_- (one should be able to take evrything the bandit have..in inventory)

-Raid a stupid huge boss and hope to get the right percentage to take an equip piece (terrible mechanic just terrible...)

-PVP gear (seriously? why i have to raid the same boss over and over to get a damn sword? that's just idiotic and for what? to have a sword designed just to deal much more damage to players and provide a umbalanced fight even if the character have the same level?)

-Totally lack of costumization an character features ((yes they clam to have a huge customization then you end to have to deal with the same 5 ability or spell always divided by.. Dps...Crowd Control..Tankye... Heal....))

-Monster placed whit the lack of any sense of logic ((ah indeed the gold old time you have to climb a far mountain to slay giants or wyrm or you have to adventure in the wilderness to face ennemy encounters....no now the ennemy are just outside the city... few steps...mixed a little... 3 bandits here and two step and you can kill two or three bears...))

Seriously..... I stopped to play mmo's...its just a waste of time and don't offer nothing to me

Tried this on a Beta weekend played for 8 hours and it just did not grab me. The combat is horrible you can run straight through the mobs which is some what frustrating if your a melee character and aiming up a power attack and the mob just walks throught you as you attack the spells are dumbed down. The quests are just got to point A kill somthing then go to point B and talk to some one. You can't pick up armor of enemys that you just killed after 7 hour I was still mostly running around in the rags I got at the start. The start of the game is just stupid 100s of people running around as you make your prision break just destroys the immersion and the graphics a lower that Skyrim this is just a cynical money grab by Zen cashing in to the good name of Elder Scrolls. I for one will not be buying this peice of crap.

I'm still very interested in seeing how Zeni is going to translate a game like ES into a MMO. I have never touched a MOO (most likely never will) but the idea is interesting nonetheless.

Ah, another contender to the MMO empire. And for some strange reason, I thought ESO had already been released. Sometime back shortly after GuildWars II released. I suppose I was completely misunderstanding a lot of talk I heard from others. I didn't look into it very diligently as I don't with most MMO releases anymore. As with most MMO's however, the reason most fail, (imho) is because they lack redesign of the great wheel stolen long ago by Blizzard. Yes, stolen I say. The MMO world at the time of WoW's "experiment" belonged to by and large Everquest. Seeing an opportunity for growth Blizzard capitalized on their opportunity to make a name for themselves with an idealism that if it wasn't able to make EQ the predecessor, at least they would know.

So essentially they copied everything that was good about EQ and made it better. Their success was a huge surprise and wasn't actually even expected. Over the years, they have made huge development changes while keeping their base line game play relatively the same. People have grown accustomed to the environment, play style in such a comfortable manor by and large diversified players struggle to ever leave. And if they do, whichever MMO they choose to try doesn't hold a candle to their routine cookie cutter WoW game. That is to say you can even call WoW cookie cutter anymore these days. They seem to change talent spec trees every time they patch the game.

Anyway not to rant on my dislike of WoW and the Blizzard empire. I don't put much stock into any new MMO on the forefront of the vast community that is dominated by and large by one game. They all have extremely high expectations, marketed as revolutionary and intend to change the gaming world forever. Sadly, none ever really make it past the live launch for long and if release was rushed, the game ends up in the recycle bin. Most companies run out of funding which cause them to try and rush copies to shelves and recoup their investors money so they can continue development. This is a direct development standpoint failure that is totally bad business. Blizzard already had so much in their back pocket they didn't need to rely on outside sources to create what they did. And they really were only up against one game.

I'll give you an example of who did it right. ArenaNet and Guildwars II took the direction that they were going to craft a second long over due expansion to their already fairly successful game Guildwars. But rather than changing their model to be a p2p game, they stuck with their initial game model and made the game f2p. This is one of the biggest perks that Guildwars has always had. But they did not rush development and took their time getting things right. Something very few MMO companies bother to do which in turn causes their imminent downfall shortly after live release. Yes, they have had their issues but the game in my opinion is still a fantastic game, far superior to WoW and full of diversity, randomness, excitement, intrigue, combat, beauty, immersion and everything a solid game should have.

Yet, with all of the positives around GWII, they barely made a dent in the subs for Blizzards cash cow. I never expected this to happen. As I mentioned, by and large people who have played WoW, even a little somehow find themselves returned. Why? Because 9 out of 10 of their friends still play it. Whomever they encountered in game when they first tried it still played it and despite the horrible changes and frustrating down times WoW constantly supplies to their customers, people stick to it. They are comfortable, familiar and don't value change. Nobody has put out anything that could take the majority of people away from Azeroth long enough to experience anything better.

As the old saying goes, why fix something if it isn't broken? I think that mentality rings true for most of the MMO community in WoW. So, to end my thesis on this with what I really think about ESO and how it will do? I say the video I just watched showed me nothing I couldn't already find within GuildWars II which is better of a game in my opinion than WoW or WoW itself. I saw nothing that stood by itself other than just looking like Tamriel in the background which isn't far from any other game I've played. I've played most of the lore based online games over the years. From EQ, Runescape, Knights Online, LotRo, WoW, Guildwars, Guildwars II you name it. They all have something to offer. Each having a unique story and offering you a hero to become in a world in need of great heroes to save the day. But none of them hold a candle to next weeks minipet and horde coffee mug release by Blizzard.

Just my opinion. I see nothing more than a quality built MMO around a great lore game already built that will almost certainly end up as expected with free to play ranges to recoup an overly spent budget for a high expectation game. Will I play it? Maybe. But the biggest downfall to every MMO is the community of sad troll type pathetic people online. Who have no regard for others and that type of community is what I dispose most around those games. And if any game development company wants to take over the MMO world, they'll be gaining a ginormous 6mil+ amount of those kind of folks.

I hope it does do relatively well. But I really don't think it's going to do any better than Guildwars II has done. And they had a better chance than anyone most recently.

As one who has been with ES since Daggerfall and has played numerous MMOs, I am actually looking at this upcoming release with disgust. Why? Because these are two things that I had hoped to of never merged together. In ESII, I used to workaround those ridiculously elaborate labyrinthine like dungeons by mark/recall at the entrance and using teleport cheats to reach my objective. In ESIII, like many others, I had to deal with the frustration of those damn ubiquitous Cliff Racers at every turn of a corner. ESIV saw me collecting black soul gems with Umbra only to then put them on display in my house as trophies. ESV made me feel like I was Tamriels' only hope to overcome the literal end of the world. Now we're looking at a game that has lost its' identity as it feebly tries to cash in on a dried up formula made famous by none other than WoW.

Now speaking of WoW, I did enjoy my time had with the game alongside friends I made but over time their frequent and uncalled for changes drove me away. It is from this that the coined term 'flavor of the month' became so apparent. I'm speaking of coarse, about the horrible unbalance found within the PvP system. Where people could just wrap their face in saran wrap and roll it across the keyboard and beat anything that moved. Once they had their fun, another patch would roll around and then you'd see a rise in people playing that class or talent specification to accommodate their personal lack of adaptation. Not to mention the community of narcissistic douchers comprised of mostly high school dropouts that ruin the sport of competition.

For Bethesda to allow their beloved franchise to head in this direction, makes me fearful of them turning into a shallow developer the likes of which every company that EA gets their hands on becomes or any money grubbing publisher for that matter. Maybe I'm feeling old in my young age, but games are seeing a drastic lack of passion in their development. They are left unfinished with glaring holes as they're rushed out; a compromise that is later resolved by overpriced DLC and micro-transactions to make up for it. It seems more and more as time goes by that games are less works of art and more a box with a price-tag and I feel that TESO is going to be yet another WoW clone cashcow. Before long, we will see this game become f2p where subs means win and free play means you're stuck with one fucking action bar (SWTOR).

In short, I want ES to remain as it is so that people like myself can enjoy being the lone hero/heroine and having the resources to create your very own tailored experience.

It seems that with the creation of a CE, Zenimax/Bethesda feels that this was an all-or-nothing kind of thing as the answer states:

Gameplay benefits within this edition have been designed to avoid bestowing unfair advantages over players who do not purchase this special edition. This is cool content designed for some of our biggest fans who wish to have something different from other collector’s editions in the market. The only other alternative would have been to offer a collector’s edition that offers no in-game items whatsoever. That simply didn’t seem fair to fans who are excited about the game and want some special digital items.

LMFAO... THEY CAN'T BE SERIOUS... It's "You little shits should be lucky we gave you all these special items, you couldn't have gotten anything at all" ALL ABOARD THE FAIL TRAIN! CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKERS!
