Here is a quick test of madoka from the prologue, I wonder if I need a higher resolution to see a bigger difference?

Based on the subtle differences in the hair texture it indeed does appear to be working

Is there a fix for the horribly low fps cloth physics? Very clearly seen especially on environment objects (door-way cloth covers, curtains, etc.) and on costumes (Misaki's dancer swimsuit, Chinese dresses, etc.)

Regarding the FF5 chr models to FF4, I found this https://bbs.3dmgame.com/thread-6395587-1-1.html. It's a program to swap models. I have no way of verifying my account to download the program unfortunately since I do not have a phone number based in mainland China.

I'm curious. Has anyone figure out a way to turn off / uncensor the character dissapearing in snapshot mode when trying to take a pic under the skirt of the character?

hello, sorry if I post a mod for the Nintendo Switch version here

since no one make it yet, I make a topless version of Ruka's swimsuit

there are 2 versions:

N is for the topless version & ST is for see-through white clothes

 

the pc version .gmpk file works in switch, idk if it is vice versa or not since I don't have pc version to test
install note:

tested in both hardware and emulator, choose one of the folders inside the zip file, rename the folder to [H_RUK_M]

 

hardware: paste the [content] folder on the [atmosphere] folder
emulator: paste the [content] folder on the Ryujinx [mods] folder

 

pass (lowercase) name of Ruka's mother's last name

 

please report if you find any errors with the mod

When I applied all 4 of them together, I got an infinite loading screen when trying to load the first chapter's savegame. Using everything else apart from characters worked fine and save games loaded.

 

After going one by one, seems to be something wrong specific to Ruka as I can't load her save games once I overwrite all her textures. Misaki loads, but looks a little weird, I guess these (MSK_A, RUK_A) might require some manual intervention as a baseline then you can focus on others

Thanks for the quick response, and thank you for making the textures! Also instead of gigapixel, did you consider something like perhaps ESGRAN?

 

Ive had success with ESGRAN/waifu2x in the past, but gigapixel has mostly been hit and miss for me

Did more fun swapping, although some doesn't  function well with the snap mode. For those who don't know yet, you could swap models in real time while the game is running. Just do your file edits (C&P, delete the original files, and renaming them accordingly), then reload a save. The next appropriate models will be loaded into the RAM. All this can be done while the game is running, no need to do restarts.

Edit: I forgot to tell you that these vertical lines come from the fact that the DDS textures only store half a face and they mirror the rest, so it seems Gigapixel might have anti-aliased those borders giving that bad result, so by just keeping the original normal maps it should be fix as long as all the light reflections work as expected.

 

Jupisoft, thanks for your hard work on this, like with FF5. 

 

I'll also load and test your upscaled textures over the next few days. I just finally got around to playing the first few chapters last night, after doing one last Nightmare run on FF5 (to test my own mods). The difference in textures was pretty jarring to me as FF5 was using all your prior upscaled textures. It could also be the lighting, but I don't remember even noticing the textures on FF5 (which is a good thing). 

 

In my testing on FF5 one thing I tried which gave good results was to use Gigapixel to upscale the diffuse textures but a much simpler algorithm in Photoshop to handle the normals and specular. Not sure if leaving normals and specular lower res makes any difference in this engine. 

 

I got into FF5 kind of late and only modded textures, but I plan to spend more time messing with FF4 as a task to finally help me learn Blender. I spent some time this weekend doing the YouTube Blender Donut model. I see hundreds of hours ahead.
