{UPDATE - Elin Voice v2.1 with Throw Voice Replacer Options} Tera Elin Race

Recommended Posts

Good News!

I found the reason why the dance Idle was not working and it's a bug (or intentional, not exactly sure) with FNIS.  I should have the animation update uploaded by tomorrow.  Make that, "as soon as I can".

@Mud

The scripts ensures that the animations are triggered when the Race condition is met ('RacesElin').  It does not distinguish among Elin, ElinVampire, ElinCustom, or any variation of an Elin race form.  That is why I suggested that you create a new formlist with a specific Editor ID and add your custom Elin race forms to that.

Once I upload the working animations, you'll be able to test the animations on your followers.

If that does not work, let me know, I have an alternative plan.

I got that part, but I think I remember changing the RacesElin formlist before and finding it didn't work, is what I was saying. Now what I'm referring to is this little bit I didn't notice before:

snap.jpg

Am I incorrect in assuming I'd need to add the custom race to the ElinIdle entry's list of conditions?

Link to comment

Well that would be the 'alternative plan', however, I just realized that the animations need to be shared among Elin, Elin 2, and your followers.  Each can no longer use their own version of the animations because of a common reason, FNIS fails to add the custom anims to the generated idlebehavior file.

What I'll have to do is create separate animation mods that use some common files due to the fact that FNIS only creates one idlebehavior.hkx.  This very file is the reason why the animations stopped working when FNIS updated to 6.x.

UPDATE - Patch for Elin Dance Idle Animation when using FNIS v6.x

The patch is an 'idlebehavior.hkx' that contains references to the Elin animation files, something no longer done with version 6 or latest version of FNIS.

The patch is installed manually and must be reinstalled anytime you run the FNIS Generator for Users tool.

This patch will be available until a better solution is found.

OPTIONAL UPDATE - Summon Elin Ring - Mayhem Edition

I made this when I had to start a new game due to the game crashing when loading 99% of my game saves.  The summoned Elins have been upgraded with new spells and dragon shouts.  There are 2 versions:  (1) Skyrim and (2) Skyrim + Dawguard + Dragonborn.

All Summon Elin now have the Light Foot and Silent Roll Perk.  Now they will not set off pressure plate traps or rune traps.  Silent Roll because I find it amusing to see them roll around when sneaking.

Skyrim only version

Elin Conjurors
- Unrelenting Force
- Fire Breath
- Disarm
- Slow Time

Elin Elemental Mages
> low level - mid level
 - Dragon Fire Breath (fire mage)
 - Dragon Frost Breath (ice mage)
 - Dragon Storm Call (storm mage)

> high level
 - Dragon Fire Ball (fire mage)
 - Dragon Ice Storm (ice mage)
 - Dragon Storm Call (storm mage)

Elin Melee
> low level
 - add light shield
 - Shield Charge perk

> mid level - high level
 - no shield
 - Dragon Disarm

Elin Blades
> low level
 - add heavy shield
 - Shield Charge perk

> mid level
 - no shield
 - Marked for Death (2nd-tier)

> high level
 - no shield
 - Elemental fury

Elin Missile
> low level up to high level
 - Bullseye perk

> high level
 - includes Stability perk; Bullseye effect modifier

Elin 2H Melee
> low level up to low-mid level
 - Whirlwind Sprint (3rd-tier)

> high-mid level up to high level
 - Call of Valor (3rd-tier)

Skyrim + Dawguard + Dragonborn

Everything from the Skyrim version plus the following:

Certain Elin Conjurers will summon one of the these instead of the typical Atronachs.
Boneman
Ashspawn
Gargoyle (mid to high level only)
Werebear (mid to high level only)

Higher level Elemental (Storm) Elins have been given a different Dragon Shout.
Cyclone (Miraak's version)

REQUIREMENTS

The original Summon Elin Ring that is included with the Elin race main package.  The Mayhem update only provides the edited plugin.

The Dawnguard + Dragonborn version requires the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs.

INSTALLATION

Provided the Elin race main package has been installed, simply extract the Mayhem Edition archive and copy/paste/overwrite the original summon ring plugin.

So I run FNIS, and replace the idlebehavior.hkx it outputs with that one instead?

You probably figured it out by now, but yes, the patch overwrites the idlebehavior.hkx created by FNIS.  That is why I added that anytime you run the FNIS Generator you need to reinstall the patch.

Think I'm gonna try using the Elins with Enderal. From what I can figure I think I'll have to make a quick compatibility patch though. I hear there are no edited versions of the Khajiit and Argonians like the other races have in Enderal, so I'm assuming the Khajiit and Argonian races were simply made unplayable. Meaning I'll have to change the Elins' proxy race to something else.

I have no interest in Enderal (maybe in the future) so I don't know for sure.  There would not be any problems changing the proxy race to a human race.

Hmm. There's something slightly wrong. I seem to be crashing whenever I attack anything while playing as an Elin and only the Elin. Odd.

(Also, I don't have the LLFramework installed, this skyrim folder is just for the kicks of playing as an Elin.)

Here's my plugins.txt without the ElinRace 1 installed.

So, is there any incompatibility with one of the mentioned mods?

Some sidenotes: I'm using the latest version. (2016/Jan/29MainRaceV2)

I'm not using the idle animations.

I have generated the behaviors with FNIS 6.

Armor and weapon mods should have no adverse affects on races.  I'm not familiar with some of the weather mod, but shouldn't affect custom races unless the author did something unconventional.  Climates of Tamriel always gave me grief, but that was due to rendering issues, no crashes that I recall.

Not familiar with Run for Your Lives and Portal 2 mods.

Immersive Creatures I have used before without problems.

Never used Enhanced Blood (possible cause ???).

Did you run LOOT?

https://loot.github.io/

Sometimes optimizing the load order can fix a problem.  Also, are you using NMM or MO?  If using MO, click on the Elin race main folder on the left panel and MO will show what mod the Elins are overwriting and what mods are overwriting the Elins.  Nothing should overwrite the Elin main files except other Elin mods such as the CBBE/UUNP body replacer.

I'm about the leave for work so I won't be able to help you any further until tomorrow, sorry about that.  Hopefully someone will chime in and help you in the meantime.

Link to comment

I should probably start using MO then. Things would be so easier if skyrim had a proper debug crash though. Also, the portal 2 mod is a thing from valve at the Skyrim Workshop on Steam. I'll try removing enhanced blood and using Joy of perspective and repatching the extended skeleton with the joy of perspective compatibility esp.

I've used loot for quite a while and I always run it after I modify any of my mod installations. I'll run a couple of quick tests and I'll edit this post with information.

Edit: I've removed the enhanced blood mod and re-installed the Elin Race main file along with the custom body, here's my load order after running loot.

Changing to Joy of perspective and removing the enhanced blood mod made no alterations to the problem as it still crashes on attack. Odd.

Also, another sidenote, I've been using a clean save for these tests.

Edit2: Hmm. Could be related to the ElinVoice. I've got a crashdump and I analyzed it, here's what I got.

Edit3: Disabling the Elin Voice ESP proved to be a viable fix. I figured as much considering it was the only thing that could be interfering with audio. So if anyone else gets this problem (CTD When fighting/attacking), this might be your fix too. But I'll look into it further to see if I can help Psycho find out what's up.

Minor Edit4: I've found out that this could be related due to Skyrim's sound engine and a possible incompatibility with virtual folders created by the Nexus Mod Manager. Will look further into it.

Edit: I've found a fix.

Here's what needs to be done, seems any files altering voices or sounds must -not- be used in virtual folders. You -must- extract the sound files -DIRECTLY- to the skyrim data folder. I've extracted it along with the ESP responsible for the voices just in case, but this has definitely fixed the issue and I can now use the voices perfectly.

Psycho, you might want to add this to your main posts in case someone runs into the same issues by using virtual folders, dunno.

Im using enderal mod.

The race itself works fine, I can select it and it looks how its supposed to be.

But the problem is that the idle animation (not the dance) isnt working. Tried the patch but still nothing. Not sure if its because of enderal of FNIS.

EDIT: Got it working. Somehow. Took all hkx files from the animation and placed them into a folder for PCEA2. Renamed "CustomIdle_01_Base.hkx" to "mt_idle.hkx". Seems to work fine ingame. However, what are the other "CustomIdle_01_Action..." files?

Elin sound doesnt work though. I have no character sounds.

Any ideas how to fix maybe?

Also, if were at it. Any idea how to get more hairtypes? I only get hair from the elin race and no other are shown. Works for other races.

The additional Customidle_##_Action files are the swaying animations.  The idle animation is set up to play one animation file then play the next one.  The additional swaying animation files ensures that most of the Idle animation loop consist of the swaying.

Since you got the Elin dance to work with PCEA2 does the animations work for any of the Elin NPCs?  I know PCEA2 is meant for the player only so I did not really considered it as a solution to the broken animation.

I do not have Enderal and have no plans to play it so I can't really help you with any problems that is caused by Enderal.  I do not know why the custom hairs do not show up for the Elins.  If the Elin hairs show up then the AIO custom hairpack should also show-up.

Hello, I'm sure this has been explained somewhere, but my google-fu seems to be failing me. When I equip the summon elin ring for the first time, the menus strength, cost, and number menus show up like normal and the elins spawn like normal, but if I take the ring off, the game crashes. I don't mind just not taking the ring off, but then is there another way to go through those menus again?

Again sorry, really new to this website, modding, and even skyrim on the pc.

Link to comment

Before the menu fix, removing the ring would have crashed the game.  After fixing the menu system I never encountered a CTD when unequipping the ring.  However, there is a way to still crash the game with the ring and that is to go into your inventory and select the ring to unequip it then immediately select it again to re-equip it.  This tries to force the game to spawn the Elins at the same time you banish them (unspawn).

You mention trying to bring up the menus after you already spawned the Elins.  Are you selecting to unequip then selecting to equip the ring in your inventory?

The safe method is to unequip the ring then exit the inventory.  Allow the summoned Elins to disappear then return to your inventory and equip the ring again, exit the inventory to bring up the summon ring menus.

Also, welcome to LoversLab.

Only College of Winterhold and Whiterun.

But what about the Ellins village? It is not fixed? (Where the landscape is spoiled with the Giants - with the huge Stone x=0,y=0 global reference point )

In Winterhold I have one actor fell from the students rest arch ...

Right now, I've tried: 1) Equipping the ring and summoning Elins, walking around a bit, then unequipping the ring. 2) Summoning Elins, entering a building, then unequipping the ring. 3) Summoning Elins, walking into and out of a building, then unequipping the ring.

All of these crashed the game, although one time, which I have been unsuccessful in reproducing, I walked into and out of two buildings and was able to safely unequip the ring.

Also, welcome to LoversLab.

Thanks, I hope to enjoy my time here!

Edit: I forgot to mention, but since you mentioned there was already a fix for this, is it possible that either my install or load order is causing the problem?
