Does LAL Work for an Entire Playthrough?

Looking at a mod now that sends flame enemies running if you use ice against them. You could install the mod and throw snowballs at fire mages instead and watch them run! :classic_tongue:

If the mod requires the quest to be completed before you can access the mod content... maybe? Otherwise you could just use the completequest questID console command depending on the mod.

 

If area access is what you want instead, there are some mods that open certain areas, if you don't want to just console unlock a door.

I had forgotten about the dragon shouts / word walls thing without being dragonborn.  If you wanted to shout, that does still work.   The At your own pace mods do work with both unbound and LAL, I think, and does have a configurable pause after going to HH. Delphine doesn't send the letter until something you set, as I recall, so you could just halt the main quest there if that works instead.

 

IIRC Jfrazier or Blue frog (I forget if they're the same guy or if Blue frog was someone else before changing his name) but someone had a mod that ran somewhat along side the main quest, but did not have it active (as an option) and opened up most of the areas.  You ended up not going into the Embassy through the front door, so you miss the party, but get everything you would if leaving it with Malborn.

 

Maybe the certain mod support threads would have suggestions on how to use them with out the MQ?

The main quest module doesn't have any settings, it just prevents the game from shoving next quest line down your throat until you actually speak to an NPC about it specifically. It adds extra dialogue options that serve as triggers. You can, for example, inform the jarl about dragon attack on Helgen and then choose to retrieve the tablet for Farengar, but the attack on Whiterun tower will not happen unless you inquire further, so you can go your own way without having to suffer Lydia.

Are you talking about LAL or another mod? The other mod I remember using had a delay before Delphine sent you the note you normally find in Ustengrav. I think that was in a Your Own Pace mod but might have been something else.

Last I tried. It made the Thieves Guild Quest Line uncompletable without console commands.

Might have been a mod conflict but what does it matter anyway? The Thieves Guild sucks.

I had no idea about the pace mods. I hope it works as the label suggests. I'm always hesitant to manually edit quest mods for fear of breaking quests beyond repair.

"It just works".

 

AYOP doesn't edit quests, it just introduces breaks between them so you can, you know, go at your own pace. As such it is compatible with everything and actually feels like something that should've been in vanilla.

That is good to hear. I just wish I could fine tune quests to get rid of their logical fallacies

I'm enjoying this playthrough. Far as I can tell, it was my habit of cheating (giving myself items and money, etc.) that was making the experience dull. Must keep reminding myself to resist temptation. ;)

Thieves guild requirements does that iirc. Keeps brynjolf away until you reach pickpocket or sneak xxx

I read somewhere the game bugs if you don't play the Helgen quest, so what I did with LAL was to play this initial quest only, just for safety. 

Only one character played the main quest, the others have Farengar talking about Bleak Falls Barrow everytime he is contacted. This line can be replaced with a silent audio file, but I didn't bother about it.

At your own pace has a simpler and in my opinion better solution.

 

But that only fixes one problem. All the others it tries to be too many things it is not. An arsonist guild(Burning Beehives), a ruiner of perfectly good alcohol guild (poisoning the mead), a beat up the shifty argonian guild(self explanatory), a waltz into a booby trapped draugr crypt with a berserker guild(Mercer and his dumb revenge plot), a returner of lost keys guild(Nightingales). All of these should be their own guild.

 

At the end of the day it is no wonder Mercer stole from both the thieves guild and nocturnal. Loot you steal is meant to be enjoyed not shared with lazy guild members who sit on their ass pestering you to take on more jobs even after becoming guild master. Did I mention Maven's a bitch. A dumb one at that. She runs one brewery and still acts like she leads the mafia.

To get rid of the annoying and down right stupid quests and logic of that guild  I suggest destroy the thieves guild. Their Quests ain't worth shit anyways. And with that you can get the Items you want from them too. Can't tell you if the subsitute npc the Author puts there for the Main Quest works without problems tho, haven't done the MQ in Years.

I've been trying to get it to work with my load order with little success.

damn.. OK I have to add, my Lo goes rather light on World and Quest changes in general. :/ so I'm oblivious to most mod conflicts

Nevermind I got it to work.

 

I managed to kill the Thieves Guild but what is this empty feeling in me? Maybe it needs more llamas.

When I did it, I crucified Mercer and enslaved Karliah, so maybe you just miss a bit of malice? ?

Excuse the double post. They say that it is all about the journey not the destination. But what do they say about using console commands?
