I ran into the issue with the Hunters Quest yesterday too .

Quest Captured Cow is broken! Alias bacFurniture is empty. It should refer to a milk pump. Check your ZaZ installiation

While I get teleported  to the Campsite behind the MilkPump correctly, this message pops up, the Hunters walk  away, and I get placed in the MilkPump and milking starts.

So everything seems to be working fine.

What I did find on my googeling that the VR Version (I think) had a similar issue with th bac_blacksmith quest and the solution there was to make the Alias "optional" - Maybe that helps.

For now, I'm trying to use the provided 2.0.8 esp on page 191 and see if that helps.

Do I have to start a new game with this?

I'm on SE not AE, does this ESP work with SE to?

new game: probably better to do so, since the 2.0.8 will not recognize some proerties from the 2.0.10.

the 2.0.8 SE version should also work with SE

Just to keep this contained:

I started a new game (LE) with the ZaZ version from my folder on page 191 and it worked (all aliases filled), so it looks to be a ZaZ compatibility issue for me *on LE*. I cannot test SE/AE, though.

Please keep in mind that changing ZaZ versions mid-game will definitely *not* work, regardless of the actual versions put in place.

The milk pump should show up as an ObjectReference (BAC xx0171cb) property of quest bac_unowned that points to object ZaZ furniture xx028d2e, if that doesn't exist in your ZaZ version, this will fail

Great so new game is required

Is this a typo? my zbfmilkomatic1 has the id xx026d2e ...

Also I started a new game with Version 2.0.8 and it says "0 Aliases for Quest bac_unowned" when I use sqv bac_unowned.

yes, you're right, it's xx026d3e. It's not an alias, look for a Property (capFurniture_var). That should point to the ObjectReference (xx0171cb) which in turn uses zbfMilkOMatic1 as base object.

@botticelli I think it would be best to stick with ZaZ Animation 8.0 for the next release in December plus since a new game was required for 2.0.10 to work which fixes the furniture bug

I couldn't find any missing furniture in my new game with 2.0.10 under LE. Could someone with SE please find out, if the esp version from this post also has that problem?

I'm playing on LE I don't have SE installed

look for a Property (capFurniture_var). That should point to the ObjectReference (xx0171cb)

in the quest cap_unowned capFurniture_var points to xx0171cb

in the quest cap_blacksmith bacfurniture is "None"

in the quest cap_capturedcow bacfurniture is xx0171cb

In both: the "broken" Save and a new Game.

the esp version from this post

I've opened it with CreationKit, saved it and closed it again. Loaded my "broken" save shortly before getting captured, got captured and the Error Message disappeared.

So looks good.

But I'm sorry to tell you, that the Hunters are just walking away leaving me alone with the milkpump 😉

If I setstage bac_capturedcow to 20 then I'm getting some dialoques, but those guys keep running of.

edit: After setstage 20 and having those dialoques, the quest was on 60 (Stage 30 and 50 are still 0)

I saved and reloaded the game, and the Hunters came back and lied down.

Now I'm standing there like an Idiot, watching those guys sleep... I mean... I could just run of... :D

Anyways, I'll attach the converted ESP (SE) here for other People without CK to try if that fixes their problem.

Could someone help me make everything work for khajiits? I went to creation kit, added "KhajiitRace" and "KhajiitRaceVampire" to most "relevant" ArmorAddons, but it still doens't show on my character. I'm new to modyfying anything myself so I'm not really sure what's wrong.

Neither Khajiit nor Argonians will work because they have their own skeletons and meshes which means you'd need to duplicate all (~580) meshes to adapt them to the Khajiit skeleton. I found it not worth my time, since after that, you'd need to edit a lot of FormLists and so on and make the scripts distribute those items instead of the regular ones.

Damn. I didn't think it would be that much work. Thanks for your answer. Time to change race and play again,

I gave it a test with the same mods and settings as the test i did with 2.0.8 that worked earlier, only making a new game using the 2.0.10 with your .esp but the same issue still lingered for me, it complained about the missing milk pump like before and the hunters just kept walking off.

Uff this is sad. I really have no idea, why it works for me now

One question for you: what did you do to make it work with 2.0.8? Have you started the quest from the beginning and played through to the Hunters Scene? Or a whole new Game? Clean Save?

And could someone spoiler me whats supposed to happen during/after the quest? Maybe I can setstage my way through... And should there be a quest entry in the journal?

I didn't really do anything special to make it work with 2.0.8, i just made a new save with 2.0.8 version of bac on it and just speedran through the quest until the hunter scene, doing pretty much the same thing with the 2.0.10 version with just your bac.esp replaced in and when the capture scene happened it complained about the missing furniture and since the blackscreen didn't go away at all i just used teofis to get rid of it for a bit and saw the hunters had just walked off while my character was being milked.

In the test i did with 2.0.8 i think for the scene after getting out of the milker you're just supposed to grab your stuff from the chest next to the wagon and kill the hunters, i don't think you can just loose to them again since i tried even with setting the defeat % up to 90 and they still just kept killing me without triggering any sort of recapture so i killed them and was prompted to go report to Paul and have the quest progress from there

Are you or LE or SE or AE

So 2.0.10 version of Being A Cow doesn't work even on a new game?

No thats not it at all. Only the Quest bac_capturedcow does not work as intended. As far as I can tell from Sinnamonroll's Answer to my Question, there is a workaround to kinda skip/setstage through this quest and go on. I will try that. (you're obviously not missing out on to much, and as I've described before you should be able to get all those nice little presents from the Hunters as well)

@botticelli: I've looked through the Quest in CK, there seems to be something wrong with the Szene. It advances to fast. Maybe it has something to do with ZAZ taking over the PC, which, for my understanding, should always be locked in the machine. Maybe the reason is the script limit and scripts not triggering correctly.

Yeah the 2.0.10 does work on AE it's just that specifically the hunter scene doesn't work in it, i'm not too sure what else might be broken in terms of the quest line since i didn't test further than that on 2.0.10.

Btw checking for the furniture right at the start through bac_blacksmith doesn't exactly work from what i can see as it will say that the bac_furniture has nothing in it until the scene actually calls for some form of furniture at which point it fills out, like when getting the nose ring from Paul it fills in the garotte for the scene just fine.

I am running version 2.08 to get me through the first capture scene with the hunters. That scene worked great with the old version. Am now on the Cow Tears quest meeting Marc at the statue for the second time where he turns you over to the hunters. That scene is giving me a completely black screen even with the old version. I can hear ambient sounds, and see milking notifications in the upper left screen. I can even save and reload to see that I am in the hunters cellar but the screen stays black so I can't actually do anything here. I tried every version from 2.06 to the newest to get this scene to trigger where the screen wasn't black and no luck. Does anyone know of a solution for this issue?

I’m having a weird problem on Skyrim AE with this mod. I can load the cow tats in the slave tats menu, but whenever it’s supposed to happen on it’s own nothing happens. Also, I randomly get a blue face bug when the fur mutations are supposed to happen. I have all the requirements along with all of the bac required files. Everything else works except for the fur, and the blue face bug. Also, whenever I enter a new building, or enter race menu, the blue face bug disappears if that would help anyone figure out what’s going on (would be very much appreciated, I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for the longest time, thank you).

With bac_blacksmith there are several furniture aliases like furnPillory, furnLesson, etc. The bacFurniture alias is deprecated and no longer used, only those starting wtih "furn..." are relevant. In the case of bac_capturedcow however, those are not the ones in question. Here, it's a property capFurniture_var of quest bac_unowned which should contain the ObjectReference of the milk pump in the cart (xx0171cb, xx = BAC's mod no). with sqv bac_unowned, you should be able to find that property. Check, if there is a vlid ID in there. That ObjectReference points to a zbfMilkOMatic (ZaZ) milk pump. The popup in that quest only shows, when that reference is not valid. One occasion this happens is when installing ZaZ versions mid-game.

If you do prid xx0171cb (again xx = BAC's mod no), does the console show a vlid object?
