By the way, Happy Veteran's Day. I think Europeans call it Armistice Day, so Happy Armistice Day. I don't know if you served in the British Military Service, if you did I salute you. I am sure you already know I served. But I want to tell you about my grandfather in France 1917, if you want to hear it(read it).

CBBE / HDT. Install list order should be:

Spoiler

1. Caliente's CBBE and racemenu, etc.

2. The original HDT-SMP from Aers   oops, not needed now.

3.  CBPC from Ousnius

4.  HDT-SMP from Acro748

5.  Faster HDT (I use the one that updates Acro's mod)

6   XMPSSE

The reason for this order is to make sure the Config and XML files are introduced and overwritten properly.  XPMSSE must overwrite the others.

By the way, I think I saw Sinful CBP in your list. That's out of date because it does not cater for more modern CBPC that Acro748 uses.  Acro gives you some in game spells instead - use them if you need.  If you use Sinful, you'll lose the 3BA jiggle nodes.

Looking at city overhauls, added places, shops, and expansions.  JK's Skyrim adds clutter, alters NPC navigation meshes, changes buildings, and adds new things like stalls, bigger wells and other paraphernalia to the cities it covers.  You cannot overwrite this with another mod that does the same because you may end up with overlapping buildings, trees growing out of structures, one shop buried inside another, NPCs with conflicting navigation meshes walking into walls or stuck in one place and, yes, giants outside your luxury bath house!

You can only add something to a JK's Skyrim city if it says it is compatible, or someone has crafted a patch to make them work together.  Take Solitude. As an example, I use JK's Skyrim but I also like to have the player home Springwood Estate that is positioned in a corner inside Solitude, by the windmill.  The two mods are not compatible. So if I put Springwood Estate in my load order, I get a tree growing through the front of the house, and the upstairs external balcony door opens into a weird wood panel. However, I can get rid of the two problems using the in-game console and make them compatible. So in this case it is do-able.

So if a mod looks like it will work with JK's Skyrim, give it a go and see how they play together. Mixing big overhauls probably will not work at all.

So take it easy on city/village overhauls. You have to pick and choose and you may end up having to drop mods you thought would be cool.

Obviously, if a place overhaul / mod-added structure or shop is in a place not touched by JK's Skyrim or another mod in your load order, then it should not be a problem.

By the way, I'd avoid Open Cities as that affects a lot of NPC navigation meshes and needs lots of patches. It's a good mod, but save it for a future play-through.

As for the interiors, just let LOOT put the ESPs where it wants to, and adjust your install list to match.  Interior cells are separate to the open world and are self-contained.

You can still come to grief with them. I use a lot of JK Interiors. I also use a bathing mod and so I use mod patches from authors to get the two to work together.  Time-wise, just drop them in whenever you want to.

140 mods - pretty good number!  I wish I could keep my game to low limits. But I seem to have a compulsion to mod each play-through to death.

Ok, did not have a HDT-SMP installed. Had one in my archive, put it in Vortex. Did not install it, checked for update on Nexus, none. Then I looked for the HDT-SMP by Arco748. Couldn't find it, by author or name. The one I have is by hydrogensaysHDT & aers, it says (skinned mesh physics) behind the HDT-SMP. Is the Arco one on Nexus? Also Faster HDT-SMP has had a serious update since the last time I downloaded it, 1.12 now, updated. There is a problem though. After removing Sinful, installing HDT-SMP and then Faster HDT-SMP, Vortex and\or Faster made HDT-SMP redundant. ? Have not re-run XMPSE yet. it is still installed\enabled.

Thank you. No, I did not serve other than a brief period in the Royal Navy as a cadet where I had a couple of short ship duties to Norway and Scotland. I wanted to join the Navy but I failed all my maths exams; I am number-dyslexic and really struggle with calculations.?   I would have ended up in the Falklands war had I got in.

Do let me know about your grandfather. My wife's grandfather, Edward, and his brother, Alfred, were at Ypres in the 14-18 war. He made it. His brother did not and I have his medals passed down, and I keep them safe.

Happy to hear your story if you wish to tell it, but I can understand if not.

Here's the link to the Acro748 3BBB set up, but I think you have this already.  I think I accidentally led you astray because I thought Acro748 also had the HDTSMP64.DLL, but he does not. He only has the various configuration XML files.

That means like me you either use the Aers HDTSMP64.dll , or you use the newly improved "faster" HDTSMP64.dll from here.  There is every reason to use the new faster one because these clever modders have improved the performance of the DLL and the configuration files.    If you installed the Faster after the Aers in your install list, it will simply overwrite and make the Aers mod redundant, that's all. Its the same files.

I have these all installed (position-wise) before XPMSSE in my install list. That's because XPMSSE uses the bones from the configurations. Maybe I'm wrong - I'll have to check, but it works in game for me.

And yes, these are all HDT-SMP which HydrogenSaysHDT grew from her old PE version.  Aers has taken over the job, followed by the new "Faster" crew. The new Faster version is the one to keep tabs on now.

Removing Sinful should make no difference apart from the disappearance of the ESP from the load order. It only affected CBP which is out of date anyway.

Good, good. I'm on track then.

I don't know a hell of a lot about my grandfather, didn't even know his name until 2002. Got his military records and dogtags when my father died, but lost those in a fire in 2011. I did read that he served as an officer(O-3 Captain, U.S. Army under Gen. "Black Jack" Pershing) in Verdung(?). I am real happy he made it back, it was before my father was born. I didn't get a chance to read any more details before it was destroyed in that fire. I could get them replaced, but that is another long story. My father was not a nice guy.

I am not mathematically challenged(LoL). I was reading college level calculus when I was 12. IQ 129. Actually I qualified for OCS(Officers Candidate School) when I enlisted, yes I volunteered, in 1973. I didn't have a high school diploma, so no OCS. What I did have was a natural born ability to hit everything I shot at, regardless of range to target. I excel at long range communication. I was 16. I and my step-mother lied to the Army about my age to get me away from my father. Not a nice guy. I could and want to tell you more but my oath's to National Security prevent it on this forum. Needless to say they(Army) were not happy when they found this out, but I had already been in country for 6 month's, day late and a dollar short. The rest is classified.

Back to gaming. Yes, I installed JK's AIO over his town rebuilds and wound up with 2 Riverwood towns on top of each other. I had to open 2 doors on every house to get inside, 4 locked doors at the back of Alvor's shop. That taught me about that, I have discovered other instances where I have done it. Fixed all I could find. Your extra set of eyes and another brain is a BIG help. Doing this alone is a tough challenge.

I'm going to do the locations cat. now. I'll be in touch. As for the 140 mods, I am not even close to done. I wanted to relate the numbers match, that's new.

Aw hell I just accidentally deleted my answer!!! Start again.

Thanks for the mention of your grandfather. Yes, the Battle of Verdun. I'm glad he made it back. I've visited Verdun - nice place. I recall visiting northern France in the 1960s with my family. The bullet and shell holes were still all over the city centres, and gaps with missing buildings, too. It's all fixed up now, of course.

If I had not suffered this number dyslexia, I would have joined the Royal Navy. But they would not even look at me. At least I got a couple of short tours in with HMS Northumbria and HMS Eastbourne. My friend joined the submarine service. And he nearly got court martialled, idiot. He left to go into teaching.  As for shooting, well I managed 2nd class shot with the .303 Lee Enfield. I doubt I could have hit a barn door at 200 paces. My hand-eye co-ordination is rubbish.

I sympathise with your two Riverwoods. I've been there and done that! Here's a picture from a couple of weeks ago that you can laugh at. I finished latest mods install, went into game and WTF?!  Saved the picture as it made me laugh.

I'm heading off to sleep (2:30am UK time). I'll be back tomorrow.

Alright, but I do enjoy our conversations. I was up at 4 am my time, but I was nodding out in my chair. Had to go to sleep, just got up. I have to figure a way to the store for coffee creamer, dead bat. in truck. I will be in contact when I get some coffee.

Well, that took a lot longer than it should have.

Ok, this is where I'm at. I installed opparco mfg command about 50 or 60 mods back, before MfgFix(installed). I just tried a play-thru and got a couple of error messages telling me that opparco and MfgFix were in conflict and opparco should be removed. Removed it. Now I have more errors about poses, dancing and something else, I can't remember. I am going to have to "peel back"(uninstall) quite a few mods to fix this. Might not be in touch for a day or so. This turned out to be a bad start to the day.

Before I get too deep into this. Have we gotten any positive feedback, helping anyone-anyone helping us, with those quotes you been throwing out there? Just curious.

Opparco and MFG fix do the same thing. I had a problem with Opparco and the mod "Random Emotions" causing face flickering. At that time MFG was undeveloped.

MFG fix has since become the one to use because it has been actively developed. You should not need to use Opparco any more.

You may get errors from the Pose mods because they require MFG Fix or Opparco solely for the facial expressions (which I don't use). Go with MFG Fix.

Since they are both SKSE mods, it is probably just the save game looking for Opparco.  You could simply try reinstalling the pose mods and see if they re-hook the MFGFix and cure the issue. Since there are no scripts there should be no issues with the saves.

Sorry - I'm not sure what you mean by that?

Yes, using MfgFix alone now, Opparco is gone. Didn't have to go too far back to fix it. Everything is back in and working.

As far as the feedback thing goes it isn't important, I just want to be able to help someone else with their Skyrim issues. I need to focus on my game and forget about that.

Glad to hear the Opparco stuff sorted.  I'm happy to back up helping another person! Just let me know what you need to know / want to help with.

Nah... I'm going to help myself first(he said laughing... lol). I miss my girl, Blaze. Perv.

Alright, here's where I'm at. All location stuff installed, clothing, armor and jewelry as well. No weapons installed yet. Still have a bunch of SL\LL mods to install and LotD mods too. FNIS is showing 7351 anims loaded. LOOT shows 274 total and active mods. Vortex\Dashboard shows 328 active mods. Vortex\Dashboard\Plugins menu shows 194 active and 80 light mods.

I looked at the post with the SSEEdit\ESPFE\ESL info on it. Read all of the documentation and scanned the pics. It does look pretty easy, doesn't it? Vortex has flagged 28 esp's as "Could be light", I have compiled a list. Should I trust this and go ahead or do you want see the list 1st? It has also flagged SOSRaceMenu.esp as "could be light" but you said not to mess with those.

I need to make some more room in my load order count.

By the way, went into the game. All looks well... so far. Only went a little ways into Helgen. BUT no SL\LL stuff yet :(. Deleted saves on the way out. I restart every time. When the modding is done I will play a serious game.

If you feel confident, give it a roll. Do the files one at a time and check each one plays OK (which is why I am against that batch changer we discussed earlier).

If you would like me to scan your list, I am happy to do so.

Remember, two types of ESP to avoid converting: followers with dialogue, and things that add new game cells.  The converted mods need to go into the game fresh as ESPFEs - you ought not to convert an ESP already active, saved and used in game because it will corrupt the save.

Otherwise the process is straightforward.

SOSRacemenu is OK to ESPFE. It is the Schlong Add-ons (Smurf, Vector, etc) that are a problem. If they are converted to ESPFE, I discovered the SOS DLL file loses them, and they disappear out of the main SOS mod! I don't know why. If they remain as ESP then they are stable and the DLL always finds them.

I'll have a look in Steam!

Alrighty then. I'm jumping in the deep end. To explain: 5yrs old, jumped in deep end of swimming pool and almost drowned. I will be back with update. One at a time and test, got it.

Damn these Brazzer ads, very distracting. I would like you to look closely at the new pics if you would. Have I lost my goose bumps on her skin?, my eyesight is getting worse. I can't tell.
