Perhaps this young lady is destined to be the protagonist of your next Quest Mod.

That is a big problem. There's no way I'm going to survive keeping three quests mod. I already have problems with two. Sometimes I confuse keywords, tags, stages.

Every time I work on a quest I have to assemble things and disassemble others. No, I'm just going to burn.

Hmmm unfortunately I cant help much as I never encounted that bug, what should happen is after finding and talking with your clone, the place is attacked, she "Should" pick up a gattling laser and fight her way to the end, you should just have to follow her until you are stopped by the guy from the Institute and uncuffed. Not sure why the clone is not attacking things. Either JB or someone else might have more knowledge as to whats happening.

A little trick behind the scenes. The clone has Brotherhood faction. The synths in that lab has Institute faction. There's no way they won't fight unless one has twenty thousand mods installed that may be changing factions or vanilla behavior.

I almost never play as "Nora" and my character is usually in her twenties.  I either use an alternate start mod or a fast start mod that skips the intro.  If my character is a Vault Dweller then she's usually the neighborhood babysitter that Nate is banging while Nora is away, a struggling stripper that Nate picked up, or a budding porn starlet that "stayed over" after a party.  He lies that she's Nora to get her into the Vault.  Sometimes she's just a local girl that barely knows him.

I fought hard against being Nora in Nuka Ride at first but eventually had to accept it.  I would love if there was a way to play a younger character.  Perhaps the OB could treat a younger girl the same way he treats women if he loses his respect for them?  Considering the things she's done, she could drop her "human" status in his eyes and become just another whore.

Good Morning. Today on my "To Do List" it's time to revoice Shaun/Father with elevenlabs. There's over 270 lines of dialogue... so this is going to take some time. However here's a small sample.

Hey @JB. do you have any plans of making Nuka Ride custom Main menu replacer with theme?

I have no idea how to do that, but in my list of recommended mods you'll find that one person did it. It's called Nuka Ride: The Previous Girl. Well, it's the menu background.

In my draft, the girl is a daughter of a well-to-do family from Sanctuary Hills, who enrolled in the Vault 111 program, and is obviously the sole survivor of her family.

As for the OB, he's not going to be nice, he's still going to be tough in his own way but the dynamic is different. Now that I'm finishing up Slavers I'm going to rest a bit before I start.

My story - which was going to be a new mod - was about a girl who comes out of the Vault, can't absorb all the new scenery and passes out, to wake up on the farm of an old former minutemen, who runs a farm with his wife and granddaughter.

The protagonist was going to help on the farm, go to DC to sell crops, along with the granddaughter. Things like that to try to settle down.

At some point, there were going to be raiders demanding pay from the old man.

And at some point, the protagonist and the granddaughter were going to find work on their own to help the old man to make some caps. And that's where club jobs, bar jobs, domestic jobs would come in.

In the end the granddaughter was going to be kidnapped and the character was going to use an old servo of the old man to rescue her. - This moved into Slavers, where the character goes to Corvega to blow it all up. It makes more sense in Slavers anyway.

I think it's a good plot. But I'm going to fit it into Nuka Ride, as a new and optional intro. The farm will be the Dunmore's farm, from Nuka World.

Spoiler

I did this test a few weeks ago. I haven't gone back to it yet.

As soon as you tell Duke that you're not vanilla, the Dunmores will show up to bust poor Duke. It seems that the bot offered the granddaughter a job as a porn actress and the poor eyebot pays dearly for it.

@JB.I'd like to suggest a small twist involving Shaun in your NR mod. In his dialogue tree with the protagonist he reveals his name is Shaun. IMO that's a premature revelation that shouldn't happen until the protagonist enters the Institute. But what if he introduces himself to his Mother as - "James."

Hear me out - one of the early rumors surrounding Shaun when F4 first came out was that he "could" be the father of the main character of F3. His age matched up and so did his timeline. The conspiracy theory went like this:

Raised by the institute from infancy to adulthood - Shaun ventured out from the safety of the Commonwealth to see the wastelands of other regions. The closest to Boston would be either New York (feral infested ruins) or Washington DC. Shaun would choose DC; only there ppl would know him as "James."

James soon made a name for himself as a brilliant mind, eager to solve all the problems facing the survivors of the Capital Wastes. Soon he meets another educated wastelander named Catherine, and the two begin their relationship which soon becomes a love affair and then... a partnership. James dives headlong into Catherine's goal to purify all the water in the Capital wastelands. Joined by Dr. Lee from Rivet city, the trio come to the edge of a break through... but then; Catherine reveals to Lee and James... that she's pregnant.

We all know how that story goes; Catherine dies giving birth to James's son... or was it a daughter... and then on the eve of that child's 18th birthday...in Vault 101; James disappears. The child (AKA the lone wanderer) goes out to find their father, restart Project Purity... only to watch their father be killed in the Jefferson Memorial with an Enclave soldier named Col. Autumn.

Ah... but Col. Autumn survived the radiation at the Jefferson Memorial. So if the Colonial survived then perhaps so did the father of the lone wanderer. But James's body is gone!

A few years later, a weathered and tired Shaun returns to the Institute. He's sick. Radiation poisoning. The doctors of the Institute can treat the radiation, but years later "Father" would get the news that he's dying... from an aggressive strain of cancer.

Looking back on another life Shaun's thought drift back to his alter ego, who died at the Jefferson Memorial when he heard that his child had also died there... starting up Project Purity!

Now the Director of the Institute Shaun's attention is drawn to the newly Declassified computer files titled "Vault 111 incident." Within those logs Shaun is horrified to learn that he was taken from the arms of one of his parents, who was gunned down protecting him from kidnappers. The other parent was returned to their Cyro-Status... still asleep all that time. This revelation floods his memories with thoughts of his own loss, he doesn't have to  imagines the desperation of a parent wanting to protect their child. James had suffered that kind of loss... but would Shaun allow himself to succumb to those feelings? No. he can't. He mustn't allow himself that luxury; not now. The Gen-3's and 4's are rolling out of labs. Soon the engineers will ramp up their work on the reactors, and then perhaps; the Gen 5 synth prototypes will start mass production... what that?

A file marked - "Cryo-Release/Vault111/override.exe"

@bhuddaguy While that would be an interesting small plot twist, it does not work that well. This quote is quickly taken from the wiki of Shaun  "He possesses a fear of the surface, having never visited it himself since he was an infant, and he is concerned of the potential threats of the Commonwealth to the Institute." If I remember the Vanilla game, then Father only goes to the surface once, and that is just to confirm is biased and prejudiced notions in regards to the Commonwealth.

Shaun only appearing a few times in Nuka Ride is fine, and its very easy to have Nora be in denial from the trauma at the start of the game and during her time in Nuka World. The truth would only be even more shocking when she does reach the Institute and confronts Father, especially with some of the dialogue options during their meetings.

Not sure what could be used instead of his name, maybe he could make an anagram (Unash, Ashnu) of his name, or he could start to say his name then stutter and say something different like "My name is... Sha....uhh Stan" and if Nora questions what he said then Father could reply like "Sorry I am old and often stumble with my words"

That's something I've heard many times before, but I've known ppl who worked on F4 from it's earliest conceptual story outlines, and from them I found out how many times that story changed; one of the last of those "changes" happened a mere 3 months before the game was released. And that quote made on the roof of the CIT building is the ONLY audio where Shaun remarks on how many times he's left the institute.

Oh cool, today I learned.

With those two samples and Shaun saying he never had a reason to leave, the second sample could be made to work as he never had a reason to leave "until now". Father could still use the James name as a cover backstory to pass any suspicion of who he is onto a dead guy.

Not sure I agree with Father having a sentimental concern for his "family", a scientific curiosity though most certainly. Upon seeing how the Commonwealth has changed his mother into someone completely different from the files and records he read about her past, would reinforce his disgust and contempt for the people, and justifies his reason for continuing the creation of the synths.

You are getting confused. In the non-vanilla route, he introduces himself as Shaun. In the vanilla route, he is introduced as Hank.

There are more references to the fake name in the farewell letter and finally at the start of "Head for Business" (the clone says: He's here! You know, Hank!").

I mean, it's just a fake name, I can change it.

Honestly I'm not very chuffed with changing Hank to James because while he may be bad dad, James was a good man...Father on the other hand is an all-round dumass imho...

I would also add that Father is just as evil as some characters from Nuka Ride and Commonwealth slavers. You just need to look at his allowed treatment of Gen3+ synths, who are equivocally Bio engineered/constructed slaves. I shouldn't even have to mention the allowed kidnapping and killing of random/innocent people to be replaced with a clone.

For being the head of the Institute he is pretty stupid/hypocritical.

Is there any way I can stop Piper being a Fan? She came up to me wanting to take photo’s I did a dance for her and now she just stands in one place in the settlement? She talks but doesn’t move unless she is following me. Possibly remove her from a faction or something?

Right?!? I mean in the vanilla game "Father" is the prime example of a Man Child whose never fathered a child... and runs from accountability like a child runs from bees. Now James doesn't win Father of the Year for his stunt of dipping on his kid out of the vault that he carpet-bagged his way into... but still. He was a bad ass who yeeted Col. Autumn; Who survived the SAME GODDAMN RADIATION THAT JAMES DID! Sorry... that lil open plot hole really boils brisket.

But I suppose I could live with "Father" going around calling himself "Hank" to the mother he left chilling in vault 111 for... 30 years?!? Or what about Rick James...

I wouldn't say he's "evil" as he does show empathy to the concerns from his parent when faced with the moral dilemma of enslaving an entire biologically engineered races of humanoids. While his dismissal of those same concerns could be seen as sociopathy, this could also be explained by the fact that he was raised, conditioned and completely indoctrinated into the Institute ideology from the time he was 6 - 8 months old. Isolation and institutional propaganda is the fast track to engineering Mass Formative Psychosis in a population.

Hi JB

Sorry got another bug this time during Movie Night, not had this before.  Got the quest, from Charlotte, left the studio and go to the OB and Gage who are talking about Billy and Music just by her tattoo parlour.  Conversation goes as normal, but once the conversation finishes you are meant to follow the OB to the theatre, but he doesn't move he talks to you about not understanding women, but he just stands there..  When he finishes nothing happens, I spoke to him and he tells the PC that Lyons will need a walk or similar and that is it.

When I got back to NW I first went to see the OB, as the PC doesn't have music's tattoo named after her, and you get that when walking Lyons.  But the marker took me to the cabin near the fountain where Lyons takes you after you are punished by the OB in the market. and the OB wasn't there or in his place.

Am using 6.3.6 with the scooter fix.
