Can't seem to get Brutus to follow my character. I released him from jail, walked up to him, selected "I'm ready", he says something but never actually follows me. Nuker's quest worked fine, though. Didn't test the other ones.

NPCs do it in a vanilla game. To prevent them from starting the dialogues themselves, I need to check the box "Requires Player Activation". Conditions for this dialogue is Brutus and the quest's stage <10. Maybe some mod is blocking the automatic start of dialogs by an NPC. Does Xana start her dialogues or do you need to press the activation key to start a dialogue?

So, my plans for the mod:

  • More content for existing characters. Brutus wants to show his bitch to his friends. I can also develop his interest in history.  Xana have mother, connection to Disciples and prophetic visions. Alice wants some modules for her body. Undien have Mu-group and Overseer (Why did her nervous system take root so well?). Already thinking about new case for Johnny - pretend to be a rich man's pet for a couple of days. Basil will also return. Maybe Everly Bride wants to be a real bride? Mr.Brandon and Gary Norton can come up with new assignments for PC.
  • Add content for male PC. Right now all NPCs (except Undien) consider PC a woman by default.
  • Prewar female sergeant of Nate.
  • Prewar criminal whom Nora has imprisoned and whom wants sweet revenge on her. (I already know his name - Maxim Dickson).
  • Nuka-World DLC.
  • Non-XDI version, when I make sure 1.1 is working fine.
  • Learn how to give dialogues to an NPC that copies the appearance of another NPC. How to make the NPC call the name of the PC.

I reinstalled the mod to try again, and it worked. I have *no* idea why. I did nothing different, my load order is exactly the same, the mod's position in my load order is also the same. But, it worked on the very first try.

I won't be using it in my current playthrough, though. Just wanted to see if there's anything interesting for my future playthroughs. I like Brutus, and will see what he has to offer, other than rape and misogyny. ?

By the way, if you need help with dialogue, I'm more than willing to help you. My honest opinion here is that some of it is really stiff, and a lot of the dialogue lines don't make much sense. For instance, when you ask Brutus about his life as a raider, he replies "Fucking awesome! Only annoying whores constantly bother you with stupid questions. My recommendation!". I think something along the lines of, "It's fucking awesome, especially the part where I keep getting nagged by stupid whores and their stupid questions. There's no better feel!" would sound a bit better.

I can do it with speaking race. But to make a non-speaking creature a companion, I need to make him a separate race. I have not done it yet.
