Remember when stories weren't based on love triangles, rape, and/or overly stupid background plot points and details that aren't needed but are still shoved everywhere? I remember! What I don't like to remember is how anime nowadays have all these things but in the end it's all Deus Ex Machina anyway!!!

Seriously though, not exactly anime, but similar crowd - if you're going to play a visual novel / dating-sim, look up the tags on The Visual Novel Database first, because the game descriptions don't tell you shit. It will save you so much time, and so much of your innocence and/or sanity. Just...trust me. *cries in the corner*

I'm still afraid of starting new anime or manga because someone will randomly end up raped and I'll cry for a while.

I'm trying to have fun watching cool heroes do cool hero things!

I don't want to develop second-hand PTSD because of mangaka suddenly deciding that RAPE is a good way to build character!

Who the fuck even thinks that way!? A character that got raped won't be stronger for it, they'll be a fucking mess till the day they die.

I remember. Ergo Proxy, Serial Experiments Lain, Outlaw Star, Akira, Bakamonogatari (this anime/novel Pee'd on the established Japanese tropes), Boogiepop phantom, Real (still ongoing manga... seriously read this shit! It's real!).

 

Read Bitter Virgin. It's a serious manga about how rape effects someone trying to have a relationship. I read this a while ago and was honestly surprised that they didn't make light of being raped like most Japanese authors do today. It's really nicely written and I love the romance and stuff but I'm never reading it again.

It's great. I just don't want to deal with more fictional drama because I always get... I forget the word in English..

I get too close to the characters I guess.

I'm pretty sure Bleach raped me... It's seemed like a nice guy at first it had cool friends and interesting stories then it suddenly introduced me to a new group of people that I didn't like and when I said I wanted to leave they all forced themselves on me. Once they were done another group came in and repeated what the last group did. I soon found a pattern and escaped but now I don't like Shounens so much... they hurt me.

I actually like Naruto. I just don't like Sasuke. Kishi keeps writing himself into a hole with one one character that can't die or the series is ruined. Other than that I think it's going fine. There is a clear end in sight and every plot hole except everything Sasuke does has been explained.

Tite Kubo needs a new job. Dear Japan in general, Just because you can draw doesn't mean you can write. When your series is so bad that they cancel your anime that says something. They never cancel anything in Japan...

@Kyubey: I think it got cancelled because they couldn't censor the crazy shit Kubo was throwing into the story anymore and gave up.

Lets talk about good anime like HunterXHunter. There's still hope in the world! Chimera ant arc had hands down the best characterization and narration in anime since the first HunterXHunter ended (which I own lol).
