Guest Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 2 hours ago, knots1353 said: Two big issues I noticed with this had nothing to do with the actual maze itself... and were sufficiently bizarre enough for me to wonder if it was from this mod or something else, but when I took my minimal base MO2 profile (which is mainly the base game with bugfixes and SKYUi, then added the absolute minimal Sexlab / DD5 setup and the Zaz8 requirement, confirmed that it was fine, and then added this mod (original test was 0.7b, and the latest test with 0.7d), I was able to consistently duplicate them. - First, when you fast travel to at least a number of places, possibly everywhere (definitely to Riverwood and Whiterun), a school of Slaughterfish appear where you do. They don't attack or anything, being unable to move because they're not in water, but because they identify as enemies, they prevent further fast travel from the area. - Second, when you pass through many doors (not all - but again most of them in whiterun for an easy test...), you don't end up at the usual spot on the other side - instead you're transported forwards a short distance. In the case of the main Whiterun doors, when you enter Whiterun, you end up partially under the geometry. I've got no idea how (or why) this is happening with your mod, but both are pretty significantly debilitating to gameplay. As for the maze itself, I like the concept... looking forward to the jump scares and the like. Given the sexlab, dd, and slavery outcomes, perhaps some of the 'jump scares' in the maze can be other lost wanderers who seem to appear out of nowhere - maybe a rival slaver gang who has been trapped here - who, instead of attacking you with weapons, instead do so with devious devices, sex attacks, or both, before disappearing back into the dark again. Thanks for the info! I've reverted back to 0.6a. The new level wasn't too great anyway. I suppose I'll keep to the current size of the maze and focus more on polishing that. The teleporting slaughterfish have probably something to do with a bug I noticed in CK. Sometime random objects just teleport from interior cells to exterior cells. It happened to me several times already, that static parts of the maze appeared in the sky over Whiterun, presumably at coordinates 0,0. I have no clue what is causing this, but clearly the new level was too much for the engine. I ran into a ton of bizzare issue making that cell. I thought I've dealt with them, but obviously not. If you'd be so kind, could you please test version 0.6a and tell me whether it causes the said issues? In my game, for some reason everything works fine.
RealGesichtsfelsen Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Almost forgot about it! Here is the crashlog, this time definetly with Version 0.2a of Ambient Slaves without Perilous Maze activated: I've placed Ambient Slaves at the very end, so its FormIDs are different from last time to make sure that it wins any potential conflicts (that might be thing I could look at tomorrow in SSEEdit). OCW_CellSettings.esp } I think I'll make a copy of this MO profile tomorrow and then try disabing huge amounts of mods at once and see once it stops crashing. I'd kinda like to find out now which mod isn't playing "nice". Could also help with leaving that mod out of my next load order. Thanks, that would be most welcome! As stated before, I am very new to modding, so half of the time, I don't even know what I am doing. I'm afraid I won't be able to tell much from the log. But if what I read about navmeshes is true, and if I understand it correctly, then there is a good chance that that's what's causing the issues. And in this case, no load order will help solve it, as there will still be a mismatch between bordering triangles. Simply put, there have to be at least two untouched cells between a cell where I have altered exterior navmeshes and any other cell with modified navmeshes by someone else. As I am placing a lot of stuff into the scenery, such conflicts will become more and more unavoidable, unfortunately. But if this is indeed the cause, then it also shows that all the other mod developers are guilty of the same thing. There is a way to change navmeshes while preserving the numbers of border triangles, but it is extremely tedious and painstaking. The worst part about it being that at any point the triangles might get renumbered without you noticing, and when you finally notice, all the work you have done in the meantime will be lost. I'm not surprised that hardly anyone does that. But as of now, I have no concrete evidence to support this theory. Just a hunch. If I am right, though, I'll simply continue as is. There is little other choice. I just won't spend hundreds of hours counting triangles. Not my idea of fun. As long as the mods work with my mod list, I will be content. It's a pity that not as many people will be able to play, but unless someone volunteers to do this for me (if it even can be fixed), there is little I can do Hopefully I am wrong and you find out it to be something else.

If it isn't there, the maze probably isn't there either. Do you use a mod manager? If not, have you activated the plugin? Also, please make sure you are using version 0.6a. Version 0.7 is highly unstable and I had to recall it. I am unable to make a screenshot right now, but the entrance should lie roughly in the area marked by the red circle. It is a camouflaged hole in the ground, so it isn't very easy to find. But as said, if the marker's missing, the entrance is probably missing, too. The mod must have failed to load.
RealGesichtsfelsen Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 So, sorry for taking so long, life has this nasty habit of getting it the way of things. No matter what I try, I cannot get to the root if. By now I've removed all but the most essential mods/direct dependencies and also reinstalled Skyrim SE via Steam. It keeps crashing with the exact same reason whenever I load any game or just "coc Riverwood". Spoiler At this point I'm giving up but I'll at both of your mods as soon as possible again when building my new load order and see if it works.

This could help us isolate the conflict and I could then put it in the description so that others don't have to go through the trouble you have. Thanks!
Xuvish Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Are there any quests at this point for this or Ambient Slaves?

There is one quest giver with one nearly impossible-to-finish quest in the maze. There are and will be no quests in Ambient Slaves. There will be a few quests added to APM, in particular in connection with discovering the maze (the marker will no longer be displayed from the onset). This will conclude the development of the standalone APM version. Then, I will make a new one, which will have AS as a requirement (in order to allow the occupants of the fort to be in the same factions as the other Frostbite Clan members), what will, in turn, allow the quest mod to make use of this location as well. That's the plan, anyway.

orangebumhole Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Is there any chance that there might be an LE version of this mod? It looks fun, but I still haven't made the switch.

Seeker999 Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Is there any reason for scripts to trigger/run when I'm nowhere near Perilous Maze and no related quests are active? I didn't have a CTD, ILS, or anything else. It did strike me as odd and if it's not necessary to run outside the maze then it's probably better if it's turned off, so to speak. Very cool and horrible maze you have here. Definitely made my eyes start to go buggy. And the conclusion? nice.

Two weeks ago, I started work on a new update, got as far as creating all the voiceovers for the new quest-giver, but then I got overwhelmed with work, so progress is zero ATM. I hope to get back to it in about two weeks time. So thanks again for making me aware of the issue. This is definitely something I want to look into.

It's a relief to know that at least some of the issues may not have been caused by me. You are right, the maze was designed in a way that prevents the "keep to one side" rule from working. I'm really glad that you can appreciate that. Makes all the work worthwhile. Unfortunately, lately I was only able to do much less than I'd like to. As for your stuff back, the intent is, they won't give it to you voluntarily, and they'll sell it off fairly soon, if you don't get it. It's in a chest in the manor. But I might change this around, as work, hopefully, progresses. You're also right about Markarth. In VR I get periodic long freezes over there and low FPS. In SE it works fine for me. Maybe I'll reduce the number of slaves a bit. But maybe it's some other glitch I may have introduced...

Some feedback on the item recovery: When attacking a Frostbite clan member at the mansion the rest just run away. I feel like attacking them should turn all of them (except the ones in cities) hostile The stone walkways are too tight for the AI to correctly navigate around, or there is some other navmeshing issue, but my follower was not able to path around the walkway When recovering the items most of them get marked as stolen. I get it, you technically did steal them, but they are technically your items, so I think it would be better for player experience if they were not. The headgear of the slavers is worth 0 septims, which seems a bit strange given their strength. This might have been made for balacing the loot you get when raiding the place. As of now when selling all items the NPCs had on them I got 6100 septims for their stuff. The snow elven armor is lootable while the falmer armor is not. I generally don't like non lootable armor, so only the latter was an issue for me, but that's more of a personal thing. Obviously it was a bit strange that the slaves just kept about their day when all slavers were dead, but since the mod absolutely isn't done yet that's to be expected I hope this doesn't sound too nitpicky, these are just my two cents so I don't forget before I move on to the next quest

I'll address your points 1 by 1: - I have yet to reproduce this behavior. If anything I used to have an issue with the clanners being too aggressive. I'll try and remember and test this at the next opportunity. And you're right, if you attack one, all of them should fall upon you. And there's a whole bunch of them. Only the slaves should be set to running away. Also, currently the Frostbite clan in APM is a different faction than the one in AS. This is due to APM historically being the main mod. I want to eventually make APM dependent on AS, so as to merge the factions, but right now there's no real need for it, and some players may only want to play APM, or they maybe have issues with AS (a lot of navmesh mismatch potential) - I haven't really tested the place with a follower yet, as this is more of a solo experience, but I should probably point that out somewhere in the description. Watching the FC guards from various vantage points, I have not noticed an issue with pathing. The most glitchy spot seems to be the gate connecting the two courtyards and the staircase leading to the manor/battlements. The clanners being so big (and doors often scaled down) doesn't help either. - The stolen status of the items is unintentional. I just set ownership of all the chests to FC members and didn't even realize that if I send something in there via script that it will become the property of the owner. I'll make a not to exempt this particular chest with the next update. - The headgear price is intentional. Precisely for the reason you say. I wanted to make them a little OP, but without breaking the game too much. 6100 Septims sounds about right. - This goes also for the Falmer armor, I should probably make the snow-elf one unlootable, too, so as to not reduce the satisfaction from quests where you are supposed to get these. I just needed an armor distinct from what is everywhere, but there isn't much to pick from, and I didn't want to use third-party ones for authorship reasons. Only if someone presents me with exclusive rights. It would also need to meet several other criteria. This can be always easily updated. - Yes, slaves are a separate faction. They should never fight. Didn't get as far as set-free behavior. That probably won't be very easy to implement, either, so that'll have to wait for now. Not nit-picky at all. This is constructive criticism. I hope I can turn up with an update soon. But as things look now, it probably won't be sooner than in a month's time.

So far, the mod doesn't prevent you to play as a male, APM probably never will, but AS might at some point. As of now, the clan is non-interactive. At some point, I would like to add quests, where the PC gets offered to join the clan in return for running down some escaped slaves, but in the end, upon successful completion of the quest, the PC will be betrayed and enslaved together with the slaves just captured, which should make for some interesting situations. Other than that, the FC will be, for the time being, unjoinable. Maybe, if I ever get as far as completing the main features of AS, I can make an addon with a join quest. But anyone can make an addon for the AS framework. If someone does, please contact me about the FC lore (I have thought up a few interesting twists in this regard).

Very cool and horrible maze you have here. Definitely made my eyes start to go buggy. And the conclusion? nice. Hey Seeker999, I'm working on an update for APM right now and I did actually remember this issue. Then I looked at the script and it occurred to me that maybe the phenomenon you described maybe wasn't that much of an issue, as I'll describe in the spoiler (to not spoil the surprise for newcomers) Spoiler The rising water script has a while loop which continues until the water level reaches a marker and then the loop should stop. As the water rises very slowly at very small increments, this might take several hours. So if you checked the log soon after the mechanism was triggered, it could very well be that the water hasn't been done rising yet. Agreed, there is no need for that to go on once you are outside the maze, but as I am quite green, no simple way to kill the script (or, ideally, reset) occurs to me. In any case, after a few hours the script should be hopefully done. So it is a bit unclean, but with time the issue resolves itself and doesn't persist forever. Or that is my hope at least. Can you confirm. And where is this log you are checking located? (I'm really, really green). If you have suggestions on how, specifically, to kill or reset the script, please, let me know. The script is as follows: Scriptname IncrementalWaterRising extends ObjectReference import utility ObjectReference property WaterPlane Auto Actor property PlayerREF auto Float property TrSpeed = 1.0 auto Float property PlaneXCoordinate auto Float property PlaneYCoordinate auto Float property PlaneZCoordinate = 17.5 auto Float property PlaneRiseStepDelay = 0.1 auto Float property TargetZCoordinate auto Event OnTriggerEnter(ObjectReference akTriggerRef) If akTriggerRef == PlayerREF While PlaneZCoordinate < TargetZCoordinate Utility.WaitGameTime(PlaneRiseStepDelay) PlaneZCoordinate += 0.1 WaterMoveFx(WaterPlane, PlaneXCoordinate, PlaneYCoordinate, PlaneZCoordinate, TrSpeed) EndWhile Self.Disable() Self.Delete() EndIf EndEvent Function WaterMoveFx(ObjectReference TargetPlane, float afX, float afY, float afZ, float afSpeed) TargetPlane.TranslateTo(afX, afY, afZ, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, afSpeed) EndFunction Now, it was a small wonder for me that I got this working in the first place, so I am a bit hesitant to fumble with it, so as not to break it. I could really use a mentor, or a comprehensive manual/tutorial. The CK wiki is too all over the place/fragmented/vague/assuming I know things I don't know. I am learning from the internet, but it is frustrating how long it takes to find solutions for very simple problems. I welcome any suggestions for streamlining the process. Can you confirm the script stops when the water reaches the marker? Thanks again!
Seeker999 Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 @gargamel9 I appreciate you following up. I'm sorry, I don't have that log anymore. I would have posted it but it was too big to upload. I'll use spoiler for same reasons as you. Spoiler I posted this issue about 2 weeks and 30+ hours of gameplay after exiting the maze. The log would have been created roughly at time of post and as I said, was too big. I looked at my save dates and hours played info to get this info. I admit I cheated a bit with the time variable in the maze and forgot to set it back right away. So maybe it's my bad that the script kept going. Although I didn't think I slowed it down that much. To keep from bloating my log, I just removed the script, I'm going to put it back in to see what happens. Game time scale is normal now, so it might still give useful info, especially if it starts over. How much in game time should elapse? Because if it bloats my log too much I'll have to yank it back out. That said, I agree that the ideal is for it to stop running when you exit. I'm not a modder, but I have a couple of ideas on that. First, if the script is working as intended, then instead of messing with it, can you do a hard set on the water level when you exit? You know the script is supposed to stop at water level = ###, so when you exit the maze and the dialog box pops up, you add a behind the scenes command/small script to set the water level to ###. I'm not a programmer, so excuse my terminology if it's not right. I can't tell from the script what the setting should be to equal the target. Do you want people to be able to go back into the maze? I don't know what your plans are for APM going forward. If so, then when entering the maze, you could do a hard set for the water level = 0. If it's possible to do a water level hard set via the console, let me know and I can try it out with the script back in place. Second, post a request on the modder's discussion forums here and maybe on Nexus to see if anybody has a solution. I wish I could be more helpful, but I just don't have the skills. Good luck!
