Books of Dibella - Alternate Start Plugin

Is there a reason the Sexy Starting Options was removed? I don't particularly mind -- this has everything I'd need/want out of it -- but part of me gets the feeling something's missing, or that it's an overhaul for stability/quest objectives' sake.

Or it's noon and I'm still up from yesterday with a brain made of raw derp.

Same thing but the mod has been rebranded Book of Dibella

 

And i think with the book in the bookcase it was simpler and more stable

It was mostly removed because this mod supersedes it, and I did not want to keep managing its forum topic.

@MorePrinnies, thank you for this mod (and its predecessor). I like the new options very much.

 

"Whore in [City]" makes it much easier than "Patron at an Inn" to start with nothing in your inventory, at an inn of your choice, being a whore.

 

"Polar Dare" is mean if you have Frostfall installed, and you're playing on Legendary difficulty, and get into bad weather, and have to fight off a pack of wolves (thank God for "Defeat" and that those critters are always horny).

Dunno, I sadly just can;t get it to work. I have it at the last on my LO, and i pick a book, any book. it does Racemenu and I go into the bed. it loads again, then within a half second of loading into whatever cell it drags me back to the alternate start cell. I don't know what is causing this. Some issue with LAL? It really wants me to choose the mara statue.

Only the books at the top left do not require any other mod (other than Alternate Start, of course), the books at the top right require the Radiant Prostitution mod, and the ones on the middle shelf require the Egg Factory mod, if you don't have the respective mod when grabbing the books using said mods, you get forced back to the starting cell.

 

EDIT: I've found it works even if its above Alternate Start.

Yeah i really don't use those mods so there are no middle books. only books on the top left layer. the nudist/exhib ones should work on their own tho, right? They don't for some reason.

Top shelf should work without any plugins, though some may be tough with no naked gameplay or prostitution mod to keep you alive / earn funds.

 

Can you start a new file up to being pulled back to the start area and attach a Papyrus log?

The Polar Dare start is switching to the Gone Swimming quest after sleeping in the bed.  It doesn't break anything but the wrong quest log is presented.  

 

Quest SSOStartPolarDare (xx0145BB) -> Scripts -> SSOStartsScript -> trackerquest 

is set to SSOSkinnydipper (xx004F60) instead of SSOPolarDare (xx0145BA).

With Live another Life for LE being pulled off Nexus, I've halted development of this for now.

Have you looked at this mod and its SE counterpart?

 

Similar to ASLAL but you would probably have to add your own bookshelf, though there is certainly room. On the other hand its own menu might be more stable than LAL's.

If I could code better maybe I could fix this or CCAS since they both seem to be...not abandoned but discontinued for now? I only know how to make basic quests but if I use this mod as a framework I might be able to do simple ones?

It's definitely abandoned as I've moved on to developing Extensible Alternate Start.

 

I think open permissions are best for everyone, so feel free to dissect and remix this mod and its scripts.

Many of this mod's starts were taken from my earlier Sexy Starting Options mod and converted into books due to some issues I had with dialogue in CK. The earlier mod has been removed now.
