BOOKS OF DIBELLA

 

This is a plug-in for Alternate Start - Live Another Life that adds a number of adult-themed options to the starting choices. It replaces my earlier "Sexy Starting Options" mod.

To activate them, ignore the Mara statue, and instead search the bookcase to her right. Take a book from the shelf to start its scenario.

 

Top Shelf, Left Side:

 

* Dibellan Pilgrim: Your nude pilgrimage to all Dibella's temples is rudely interrupted by the closure of the Markarth temple.

* Lake Ilinalta Skinnydipper: Someone stole your clothes while you were skinny-dipping in Lake Ilinalta.

* A Drunken Boast: You promised Camilla Valerius to get that golden claw back bare-ass naked.

* Dumped on the Wayside: Kicked off a wagon on the way to Helgen with no possessions.

* Robbed of Everything: Drugged and robbed of even your clothes by the thieves' guild.

* Lost My Shirt: You wagered even your clothes on the Cragslane Cavern pit fights, and lost.

* One Night Stand: You slept with a farmer for a place to stay the night. But in the morning, he threw you out without your clothes.

* Polar Dare: You won a swimming contest against a mage from Winterhold, who got his revenge by stealing your clothes.
 

Top Shelf, Right Side:

 

Radiant Prostitution/Gigolo recommended:

 

* Whore of [City]: You are working as a prostitute in that city's inn.
 

Middle Shelf:

 

Requires Egg Factory:

 

* Hen of the Pale: When your hens were slaughtered, you turned to forbidden magics to lay eggs in their stead.

* Frostflow Survivor: You survived a massacre at Frostflow Lighthouse, but at what cost?

* Dragon's Ritual: You agreed to a "fertility ritual" after a night of drinking. But it wasn't the orgy you thought it would be.

* Catch of the Day: You caught a slaughterfish fat with eggs near the Lady Stone. It's probably nothing unusual.

* Spider's Brood: How long have you been webbed up and barely conscious in spider-infested Redbelly mine?

* Search for a Cure: You crossed the border from Cyrodiil in search of a cure for your egg-laying problem.

Not going to let a simple thing like Creation Kit crashing every time I try to add dialogue keep me down. This mod supersedes my earlier "Sexy Starting Options" mod, with a new way to pick your start. Simply take a book that suits you from the bookshelf next to the Mara statue in Live Another Life's starting room.

Hey MPD, I'm always happy to see more alternate start options. Two questions:

 

1) As far as you know, will this convert cleanly to SSE, or are there any elements that need special attention?

2) Does this currently, or do you plan in the future, integrate with the "surprise me" option at the Dibella statue? When I roll short-duration characters for testing or troubleshooting, sometimes I like to use random starts for variety.

There is one NIF in the BSA that will likely need to be unpacked and converted for SSE.

 

No, and no plans.

I dig it. You'll never hear me complaining about starting quests having proper structure to them! Thanks again for adding to the mod ecosystem.

This alone is making me reinstall, like NMM and everything reinstall, that's fantastic, it always bothered me that there were no followups to Alt Starts (Base or otherwise)

I like this bookcase idea of yours for starting a new game with those scenarios. Makes it seem like you're about to read an interesting story about the "dragonborn" and their adventures.

You are starting a new game, and not playing a child race? None of the books should spawn if you pick a child race from the initial race menu. I

I just started a new game and only saw one book.  "One Night Stand."  There were no other books on the bookshelf.

Ah, I'm counting on the OnRaceSwitchComplete event to fire when racemenu closes.

 

Except it never does if you accept the default Nord race.

I've uploaded a new version to correct that bug. However, the fix requires SKSE. I assume everyone on LL has that by now.

In case you want to expand it further, which kind of scenarios are you going to use? Only the Exhibitionism/Nude and Egg Laying scenarios or are you planing another for the lower bookshelf?

Currently planning a couple prostitution-themed starts, as well as looking into SGO and EC+ integration to fill out that middle shelf.

Makes me want to try this on a new Succubus build (maybe more) instead of Skyrim Unbound.

No books are appearing in the bookcase, regardless of the race I choose. Attempting to spawn and pick up the books manually causes the game to act like the scenarios have started, but I'm still stuck in the dungeon.

Sounds like scripts are missing. Re-download and re-install.

Re-downloaded, there are no scripts in there.

They're packed inside the BSA file, make sure that is installed alongside the ESP.

Could somebody pretty please convert this to SE? I don't know why, but I can't seem to get to work whatsoever.. I must not understand something.

SSE users: Don't forget that you must extract the .BSA to its individual files before attempting to even start the game or it will likely (most definitely) crash on startup. Then it should work out-of-(extracted)-box as it just did for me. I ran Cathedral assets on it (which will also extract the .BSA if you have it flagged to do so--I myself used MO2's capability on install) but CAO found nothing to do.

Well Im not sure what Im doing wrong then, because even with them unpacked, they still cause me crashes
