BruceWayne Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Actually, Beth changed the concept quite drastically. While I would love to see an european version of Fallout, I can more than understand why Beth/Obsidian won't walk away from the US. First of all, it just makes sense from their base of operations. A second reason is the main premise (US-China nuclear war), which makes it more logical to choose one of those places and the third reason is most likely of an economical nature, as most of their customers are based in the US/Europe.
Guest prodlimen Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 If this means more casinos and new stuff, new creatures, new clutter, and a place as interesting as Freeside, I'll go for it! Ah, and for Pete's sake, if they could at least include one vanilla Tarántula!!!. A postapocalyptic Mojave full of Tarantulahawks and without any spider? . Anyway, you just made my day with this new
sen4mi Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 For some reason, I keep thinking Fallout: San Andreas Edit: I remember writing this, and thinking about the grand theft auto series... though, re-reading this, I have seen some good european post apocalyptic games. Or, I have heard they are good. I have never actually tried playing Krater, myself (for example). But Fallout is in the USA, I think in part, because of The_Road - and for a european setting to work, I think someone would have to work through how to present concepts of a post-apocalyptic europe. I don't think Bethesda (or Obsidian or any of the people involved) would want to steal from Krater (or whatever) so the concepts would have to be presented in a format distant enough that they could be referred to without accusations of theft. (end of edit)
ElvenScoundrel Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 They should move from East and West to North and South. Why not explore Texas or Florida? Think about it, Texas is ridden with storms, that would make the visuals so fucking amazing, and Florida is a peninsula, which'd make water-based FEV-affected creatures the norm, and they could go apeshit with monster design. Fuck, what about Canada? It was annexed by the US of A during the war, so it's TECHNICALLY, in a way part of the US. Why not make a game within it's borders, between the US/Canada border? Snow would be something really cool to see in a Fallout game, tbh.
EmhyrVarEmreis Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Well, when we talk about scenery, for me: F3 > New Vegas Much more post-apocalyptic, atmospheric terrain. All those ruins everywhere, signs of world's destruction at every step, love it. NV was meant to be like F1 and F2, but in that matter it failed, imo. [except for music, which in fact came from F1 and F2, lol] F1 & F2 > F3 > NV, as for the scenery. No idea where to put Tactics, but nevermind.
TheoryoftheDead Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Quite honestly I'm looking forward to both. Although fallout 3 wasn't as much "fallout"-y as New Vegas, I for one still thought it was a good game - great in fact. And seeing as we're getting both "Fallout 4" and "New Vegas 2" is just awesome. Burn me on a stake as a heretic if you have to, but I'll be playing the heck out of both those games.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 The Mojave was the single most boring setting in any Fallout game short of Brotherhood of Steel for the consoles. If that makes it more Fallout than 3 and its amazingly fun to explore ruins of the old world, then I guess I don't like Fallout. And I still cannot stand the NCR, haven't been able to since 2 when they were introduced. If they really did go through with the idea to nuke the fuckers, I would be more likely to play a NV2 or any other game that takes place in the West Coast.
Dee383 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 As Long As When They Do Build It They Make It XP Compatable ...... I Was Always Hopeful That They Would Make It In Russia
Keyboard Warrior Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Setting doesn't matter to me, since the community could just literally remake it if they found it THAT bad. Though, the thing I found to be so interesting is that they're talking about co-op. If they implement open world, free-play co-op (and the ability to do co-op quests), I will buy the game ten times and hand out copies.
Niobia Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I'd rather play in a large open city area (like a GTA city only with that fallout style/theme). For a new vegas 2, I would want to see a re-imagining of new vegas. New Vegas in the game is pretty underwhleming and small. I'd like to see a huge area for new vegas, populated with lots of people and more than just, what, 3 game types? The setting of New Vegas (the mojave wasteland) is fine, but no where near my favorite type of setting. I'd like to see huge suburban neighborhoods, cities with tons of buildings, forests/woods, etc etc. This might be because the area FoNV takes place in isn;t somewhere I've been before so it feels weird to me. If both could be made, I'd worry that modders would be stretched thin. Maybe if they make FO4 and have a new vegas standalone DLC so that'd pretty much still be the same game or something, lol
Handsome Squidward Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Project Brazil was released. It's Fallout in LA.
RitualClarity Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Well. What about Fallout - New York. Designed like FO3 with the subways. Oh the subways. On and On and On. Metro 2035 on steroids. ... giant buildings and subways... Mutant rats as big as Yao Guai. Throw a couple of vaults in the mix with Manhattan Island, Coney Island and other and other locations. A scene of the Player on his knees hitting the dirt like in Planet of the Apes. looking at a broken Statue of Liberty. Many monuments that can be visited. Perhaps some of the tribes worship various aspects and common features of New York. Lets not forget Central Park. Imagine how wild it would be 200 + years in the future. A quote for The Warriors (1979) Cyrus: "Can you dig it?" Too bad they can use the lines from the story. I can see raiders saying many of the things on this movie.
Cezul Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I could vouch for a Fallout taking place in Texas. Lived in that state all my life and i've been all over it, we have a variety of biomes here man. We got pine forests, jungles, beaches, deserts, we got it all plus some good sized cities ( Dallas, Houston ). A Fallout taking place in the state of Georgia would also be neat as hell, with all the mountains and thick forests. Lots of potential for caves, and of course there's the city of Atlanta. EDIT: If Bethesda wants to be lazy, they could make it take place in Alaska and reuse Skyrim assets
leddis3 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 They could follow the trend of "We hate London" in sci fi and set it in London. Though depending on the area it might be hard to tell the difference between post nuclear rubble and the real thing. You wouldn't even have to abandon the Vault Tec thing for anything outside of the U.S. anyway, it's not implausible that they may have had a European branch
jonas_opines Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I find it greatly amusing when people describe what they love about X that makes it superior to Y and the reason is actually exactly what I disliked about X to make it inferior to Y. I hated the metro tunnels in FO3, and found the state of the Wasteland to be comparatively dreary, and unrealistically decrepit, 200 years after the war. I enjoyed it as a game for sure, it was great, but it makes it much harder to replay than New Vegas. As for an apocalyptic Texas, I'm not sure how anyone could tell the difference.
Adam Jensen Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I love both games, but contrary to popular belief, to me FNV was better in almost every way, except maybe for dlc. Someone mentioned Fallout:New York and I am down with that idea, it sounds pretty cool. Perhaps they could go Metro style and have subterranean metropolis.
jonas_opines Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 The trouble with metros in post-apoc video games is that they tend to be dirty, dank places infested with ghouls, which is just too close to real life for a video game.
BogBrush82 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 They could follow the trend of "We hate London" in sci fi and set it in London. You wouldn't even have to abandon the Vault Tec thing for anything outside of the U.S. anyway, it's not implausible that they may have had a European branch I've noticed that too (Mass Effect 3 springs to mind). Fallout: LA sounds good to me. Who knows what condition the San Andreas fault would be in after all that devestation?
Chbaakal Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 What I would like to see as FNV 2 would be FNW (NorthWest), without LA at all. From northern California, Oregon, and Washington, through Annexed Canada all the way to Alaska. Bring the series to the actual invasion starting point of the Sino-American War of 2077, 220 years later. Devastated forests and mountain regions, urban and suburban areas in ruins, abandoned (or not) military bases with hidden bunkers and underground facilities. Plenty of exploration opportunities (think DCInteriors: loved that FO3 mod!) . And, above all, climate discrepancies, snow, rain and hailstorms, rare earthquakes and even a tidal wave event as part of a questline, possibly to evacuate dwellers in an area about to be hit. I'd also like to see an increase in the ability to destroy objects and terrain, and even a few events of buildings collapsing due to damage and fatigue. Driveable, repairable vehicles (Dammit!). And an "open" storyline that won't just hold you to a faction, but will let you make alliance shifts back and forth, regardless of how the main questline will end (or should I say a 'Factionless Ending' would be fan-fricken-tastic!). Oh, and two last things. An improved GECK (or substitute), with a better ability to voice/lipsinc actors, and improved facial expressions (full smiling, not just half-arsed smirking!). Don't fuck it up, Obsidian!
BOS1387 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I would like to see them re do fallout 1 and 2 in the current engine I think that would be great to play those again I have to say that FNV was my least favorite of the series the story line never really did it for me. I have only completed the game one time where I must have run through fallout 3 20 times unfortunately I cant get fallout 3 or any of the older games to run on my computer anymore so now I just mod fnv so it looks nothing like the original lol
panthercom Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I thought Bethesda did a better job than Obsidian in the visuals department. I'm thoroughly sick of subway tunnels; I want lots of trees and nature, damnit! I hate snow. I actually feel that the buildings and vehicles aren't decayed ENOUGH after the amount of time that has passed; give me a break... readable billboards after 200+ years, cars that still have floorboards. There wouldn't be any wood framed buildings standing, unless they were continously maintained. You wouldn't even see any ruins left of wood framed buildings. What I want for visuals is the bombed-out shell of a city that has been taken over by nature and mutated creatures - venomous flying squirrels anyone? Albino inbred humanoids straight out of an H.P. Lovecraft story that live underground. Bizarre cults, human sacrifice. Tribals with strong supernatural undertones pitted against techies. Sex, drugs and bongo drums and throw in some random natural disasters like floods or fires that could take out even the highest level player. Death from the sky, like swarms of carniverous butterflies. Damn!, this is some good beer I'm having for breakfast
