Then, in indoor areas, woods, small, enclosed spaces, should you not be careful, and let one get right on you, then that is a bad situation to be in. And of course, the occasional situation where you open a door and see a whole group would be awesome, but It should be a rare thing. In my opinion anyways. Oh and, some basic questions about the game. I saw that you are wanting to have multiplayer... but is that to be the absolute focus? Or another aspect? How much love will single player get? Because I'm not really that interested in the multiplayer aspect... Also, it seems like you are going to be having the infected be both genders... I know this is something that a lot wont agree on me with, but the idea of a female zombie sexually attacking a female player just isn't interesting to me, or logical to the rp for the scene I'm playing out in my head. Any sort of customization that will be there for picky people like me? Or will I be left to quicksave every time a female zombie grabs me? Another thing I'd like to mention, a lust meter? MAYBE I'd like this if it's along the lines of "Wow I need to find a place to hide in and masturbate." But if it's along the lines of "Well, I'm horny, so I'll just let this horde of zombies rape me" that... just isn't what I want from a sex game at all. >.< Once again, these are simply my opinions, my thoughts, and you make the damn game you want to, and to hell with what I think. banshe Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 In regards to the difficulty matter, I think that a zombie alone will be something you will want to be weary off; It's been discussed already that weapons and ammo may be something rather scarce, that being the case, most of the time you will have to use a melee weapon, which puts you in range of a zombie. Now most materials have zombies having some kind of advantage over an enemy in melee.They're sometimes stronger in death than they were in life, or their simple disregard for personal safety and overall savagery already makes them dangerous enough. Now imagine if you bump on several. Now back to the weapons and ammo deal. That alone already bumps up the difficulty considerably, because you have the whole map to deal with (I'm not sure if you intend to simply make it a 'survival' deal, as in, survive for as long as you can, or maybe a L4D where you have to reach an objective in one piece), and with so many dangers on your way, you have to be smart about how you do things. Not to mention that, while you may be armed and you see a single zombie out in the open, shooting him will kill him, but may also attract a larger group. It's one of the fundamentals of zombie apocalypse.

I believe it fits L4D as the game has a bit of a movie vibe (with the movie poster loading screens). I do agree it shouldn't be in this game, or at least give us the option to turn it off and on and a slider for the density. I also agree that the less shadowed version is far better then it being too shadowed. Only thing we can ask for is that the visuals are clear when it comes to character models. Great lighting is also a great thing to add, making things atmospheric in a creepy way.

Its something inbetween those last 2 pics in gives the characters a unique look. But thats just my opinion.

Toon Shader/Shadow Pics, If you read any of my recent posts on it I mention toning it down in that one gradient/daynight video (at least I thought I did), so those pics I added earlier are kinda irrelevant. Still I also mention that if they got in the way of making things look nice later, that I would remove/change them as necessary. Now why am I even using it, because I like/worked hard on the effect, originally this was going to be a much different looking game, and so I had to change some things around to get them working again when you guys requested the more real look. So to recap, I toned it down a ton for the video, those pics are outdated, and atm it give's a stylized look to everything. Is that set in stone? Nope, as mentioned above. Though I'll let you know more when I get my body model in so I can see the effects in action on a relevant model. Though now I realize I may not have been clear on what did what in that video, there were two major effects done in that video: the shader = changes shadows/adds the edge detection (lines) the gradient = changes the colors from the flat white to the more sickly yellow/green look. all the additional graphic effects such as film grain are on during that video as well. As for females on females, initially yeah it'll be like that just for the sake of testing things out, but if you guys really don't want a male gender out there I guess that would save me some time modeling stuff Lust = Control, lust will only go up if you're either: A = Hit with a special attack B = Grappled/Groped by enemies C = Already infected, lust will continually rise (very slowly still) until you have to take care of it and put yourself or teammates at risk by being so loud, or you end up sexing the first nearest thing (remember you're infected) Now if you're not infected you won't go jumping people like you would if you were, instead it will simply incur some various penalties until you "take care" of it. Also when not infected Lust will continually drop rather than increase. So you could just wait it out if need be. There was a risk and reward mechanic intended here: Do I team up to try and raid this building or is it too risky since person B is infected? Or on the other side of that: Do I go for help, or will they try to attack/run from me for being infected? As you never know how close that person is to turning completely or just losing control. Single Player, well you could host a private server just for yourself I suppose. Moving on though, I was intending to make a tutorial/sandbox level. Not sure about doing a campaign or something like that as that would add a lot more work to this, and since I'm working right now, I'm not sure it would be feasible. I'd love to do it, don't get me wrong, I just only have so much free time...unless I could find a way to make this into a job like fenoxo does with his site lol. Finally (I think, so let me know if I missed any major points here), thanks for the input on the threat/difficulty stuff you guys. Your thoughts/ideas are usually quite helpful also I apologize for the likely grammar errors in this big ol' wall of text, too much typing off my phone here

I don't recall it having that, then again it's been a while since I played the first. Update Feb 26: Made some fancy menu animations, still got some more to go though before it's ready for showing. After that I want to try another effect as well just to see which looks/fits better.

In a game where perception of the environment is important and you need to keep alert, maybe film grain will add an extra notch of difficulty as you cant see everything clearly, and so not notice that zombie lying around under the shadow of a tree, who will then proceed to jump you as you get close. Personally, I like the idea. Do you? Also, both female and male zombies make the most sense to me, considering the infection spreads to everyone. But, playing Devil's Advocate here, what about player males. Any thoughts on it? (Because that's what I think he was talking about, but I could be wrong)

Also now I'm going to have to boot up mass effect to see if it was really that bad lol, I honestly don't remember any film grain effects. edit going to play around with the color grading again later, and I will also try to get started on the other style of menu effects, need to go buy some things first though. update on the edit been going through color grading effects like crazy, and so I'm going to put that on the back burner until I can get my models in (should have taken my own advice on this lol). So for the time being I'm going to be showing videos without it active until I have the definitive one I like/want.

See, I think that's a big reason I don't like film grain, besides simply not liking how it looks. I don't see games as something I'm watching. It's not a movie. It's a world, that I'm immersing myself into, living that life. And film grain is telling me NOPE, WRONGO, YOU'RE WATCHING THIS SHIT. And yeah, I'm torn about Left 4 Dead... I really did like the concept of it being a zombie movie thing. But I never felt immersed into it. :\ So. In my head, I love the idea of the zombie invasion containing rape. And it makes sense to me, with the zombies being reduced to primal impulses, or in other words, eat, and breed. But if females are raping females... that doesn't fit in... And as for player males, yup, I'm fine with that idea, but I'm not complaining about it not being available. I want to play this game as a lone female survivor, trying to stay alive, and pure, in a world full of viscous monsters. Then again, I suppose they could work especially in the multiplayer aspect... you'll have to ask someone who's actually interested in the multiplayer about that though.

(In order of questioning) -- Possibly, though much later Yes unfortunately, though I do have Pacesetter making some concept art for me weird robot thing is a placeholder model that comes with the udk until I get my models finished Humans/transformed humans, so no pure animal to person sex if that's what you're after Futa, sure if you guys want it, wouldn't be too hard for me to do/add Engine as in modeling engine or game engine? I'm using a combo of 3dsmax, maya, and zbrush for modeling, and the Unreal Engine 3 for the game dev -- And finally, thanks for your interest and support, every little bit helps btw typed in under a min, hooray for the speed round lol

(reference to how good your work is) info: game is called escape: sierra leone, first working title for my team (only adam and me currently)... he does the work i sit back and watch lol should have an alpha done for testing by june probably, hopefully. anyways, your making faster progress than we (really he) is... will be awesome to play the alpha/test version of your game, look forward to it. specially since the gaming industry need more AO games.

Plus people enjoy it, I suppose if people wanted it, the possibility to make the PC futa, but hey up to you and what the people want. What exactly is the story gonna be behind majority of people becoming zombified serial rapists? Doesn't have to be a good story, just something to give us reason as to why this shit is going on. Anon989 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 lmao, nice. was kinda hoping it was a place holder so thats good... most of the stuff seems to be working very well for the most part. are you going to make the pasteurization/ink shading effects adjustable with on/off options and a ton of other stuff for the screen/video options im guess, or hopefully a goal?!... also, i should put you to use working on games with my friend adam... he too is working on a game (using cry3 <crysis> engine), but its not really adult related, well no sexual stuff anyways. (reference to how good your work is) info: game is called escape: sierra leone, first working title for my team (only adam and me currently)... he does the work i sit back and watch lol should have an alpha done for testing by june probably, hopefully. anyways, your making faster progress than we (really he) is... will be awesome to play the alpha/test version of your game, look forward to it. specially since the gaming industry need more AO games. Yeah all the effects will hopefully have a toggle in the options menu just so lesser pc rigs can tweak/lower what they need to. lol I actually used to do some work with the Cryengine 3, stopped though as the documentation for it at the time was really lacking. And just for the curious, I used to map for Garry's Mod, Counter Strike Source/Go, Farcry Instincts Predator, Far Cry 2, Company of Heroes Tales of Valor, the old Warhammer 40K rts, Natural Selection 2, Crysis 2 (Mod), made an RPG maker game, and some Team Fortress 2 maps. Oh, and before that I made a few metal slug rip offs in game maker lol. But moving on, still cool to hear that your own project is coming along, good luck to you (and I guess your friend as well lol)! I think adding futa's would be interesting to put in the game, as I think it was you (may have been someone else) wasn't too sure on having female rapists for whatever reason. Plus people enjoy it, I suppose if people wanted it, the possibility to make the PC futa, but hey up to you and what the people want. What exactly is the story gonna be behind majority of people becoming zombified serial rapists? Doesn't have to be a good story, just something to give us reason as to why this shit is going on. I was going to use the tutorial as a background stage as well as a learning stage. That way you get to see what happened, and how things get so bad. It's not the most engaging thing ever, but I'll try to make it at least B-Movie rank or better lol. As for the exact look of them (enemies)? This will likely vary once I start doing the transformed versions, but the initial walker's/runner's have some concept art on the way courtesy of Pacesetter so you'll be able to get a better picture then edit Update Feb 28: Going to do some more modeling, and then do a little more research into morph targets as I have an idea that needs testing...

Also (This is kinda big news) found a guy who has already made his own character creation system in the udk. If I can get him to walk me through his methods/process (which would likely save me SO much time on figuring out said methods myself), I may be able to add proper character creation rather than do the preset avatars! So hopefully I can not only get in touch with him, but get him to share his info on the matter as well. Will keep you guys updated when I find out more
