banshe Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Lol, 'welcome to hell' on that second one. Ironically, that first one made the world seem more 'toonish', specially because the model seems to have a faint 'edge line' drawn onto it.

Yup that was the remnants of my toon shader at work, I toned it down from before so it can still work with the more realistic look you guys requested. Think of it as my compromise lol...I still like it though as it lends the game a much more stylized look edit And yeah I'm prob going to tweak/remove it if it looks weird later when I get some of my own models in, but otherwise like I said before I'd like it to stay if possible lol

Np I'm not mad or anything, just determined to use that shader for something, as it took me like 2 hours to get it working the way I wanted it to lol. So I would hate to waste it/toss it aside, ya know? Update Feb 19th: Nothing too major to report on, started to model the female body today in zbrush. Likely won't be finished with it anytime soon, but I'll be keeping at it.

Only as a last resort, I want to make (Or most of) everything myself if possible. edit If you're worried about it time wise, don't be. I tend to exaggerate things. So I'll hopefully have something to show of it by the end of this week
Anon989 Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Update Feb 20th: Spent some time modeling again, didn't like the results enough so I started over again, will try again with better reference material. Also spent some time to make a new UI layout for Zbrush, that way I can work a lot more efficiently in the future compared to before (This was part of the reason I was having some trouble before, so it should help). Also have to attend a funeral tomorrow as a friend of mine just passed recently, so I'll be offline for a large chunk of tomorrow.

I haven't had enough free time lately to properly work on this, but tomorrow should finally be good btw I'm thinking of doing a paypal donation thing for this, so if you like what I'm doing and want to help me out both financially and mentally (I'd view the donations as a reward for hard work lol, to keep me focused). So let me know what you guys think, and just to note, you would be in No way be required to donate/pay to get the project when it's finished (It will be Free). It's just for those who want to help support me, as I would definitely love to upgrade my computer to reduce some of the load/render times I deal with right now lol... Also anyone play SC2? Anon989 Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Update Feb 23: The Model is now somewhat viewable, and took me some time (and I still need to do the head/feet/body morphs/genitals/textures), but I think I have this figured out a lot more so than when I started. (yay learning lol) You see while I have modeled things before, I've never modeled people until just recently. As a result I'm still kinda figuring things out like methods/workflows and other good stuff. I mean the thread isn't that long right now, but later on it might make it hard to find some things. So I may be making a screenshot/video section on my second post that I reserved earlier. Just to help people find things a bit easier. -edit- I'm going to make a media section, it just makes more sense. Will still do the update posts, but I'll try to make sure to add them to that section as well.

As stated earlier, customisation is planned, but isn't a major thing right now. But customisation will possibly be in it, but takes more work then having set avatars.
Anon989 Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Yup as DemacianPride was nice enough to point out for me, yeah customization will be limited to preset avatars (for the sake of time) with future customizations added later such as weight, breast size, and hair color. I'll try to add as many presets as possible though just to cover enough variation, and if possible maybe allow the hair styles to be swapped around. It all really depends on how difficult things decide to be, but I'll be trying my best.

So if anyone knows a good royalty free site or wants to contribute their own works/tracks, I would be happy to work with them.
