might be a dumb question but what made you decide to make the main character female. I've always wondered why in most elderscroll games guys decide to play females and sex mods focus more on females. You would think guys would prefer to play guys lol.

two other questions.

- will there be any consensual sex like in the safe zones.

- will sex scences just be click and watch or will there be any kind of controls. (on the second screenshot i posted for models on page 2. that sex game is called schoolmate 2 it has a simple and effective sex system.)

 

 

Who said I was male lol jk. When it comes to normal games yeah I go with a male character, but for games like this I prefer a female character. Just how it is I guess lol, but onto your questions:

 

1. Yup in safe zones with npcs or other players, though forced sex/rape is not allowed in there. Unless of course you like angry mobs ;)

 

2. I was thinking about keeping simple personally, but if you guys have some games you think have it done right, feel free to point me in their direction and I can take a look at it. Or just link a video, that works too.

I wouldn't make it (bladder) optional, specially considering multiplayer possibility: One player has bladder turned on, others have it off. The one player pisses their pants, the group gets swarmed. That screws both the player and the group who, for whatever reason, did not want that feature. So its either there, or not, imo. Or, if you make it an option, then make it an option chosen at like, a game lobby before the game starts and ALL follow it. Either all have it on, or off.

 

As to slimbones question: It really depends on the theme and the material; Some things seem more fitting for men than they see it for women. A survival horror where the 'bad end' results in rape, for me, is fitting for women. It's not some 'females must be screwed' sentiment; I'm all for strong, powerful women in control of the situation (I have someone like that in my life), I just fits better. Other materials/games, a man character might be more fitting. As for why that's such a present theme for most people, well to answer that I would mention that's the result of social and cultural developments of many generations before us that led to this outcome.

 

So its really not our fault... >.>.

A Global Toggle before game during the setup, is a MUCH better idea than a toggle per player. That way people know what's up before it starts and can leave if it doesn't suit their tastes. That and I really like level playing fields, balance/fair play is key for me lol. Thanks for your input as always banshe :)

I didn't mean to sound impatient.  Just thinking out loud (out... typing? I dunno). Anyway, I'll be honest that from all the "homegrown" erotic games I've seen, this has to be one of the most ambitious.  That being said, most games have been flash-based RoR games, which I LOVE, by the way.  Although after finding Lovers for Oblivion, I've gotten spoiled, but the thought of a game built from the ground-up?  Just insane, especially with what I've seen so far.  Hopefully with our... unique community, we won't have to deal with the zombies being a minor nuisance, compared to the real threat: other human players being griefers.  Because from what I've heard, that's 95% of the player base for games like "War Z" or whatever (I've not played it, so forgive my likely error in naming).

 

Anyway, THANKS!  I'm looking forward to this big time.  Hopefully it'll be done before this semester is over and I have to deal with other people in the house. :dodgy:

As per the community, I hope* that they can be cool, but if not I already have a few ideas for dealing with bandits. ;)

don't mistake War Z for Day Z or Day Z fans will be VERY angry with you lol. Just google the War Z and you'll see why though.

Expect another slow day from me here, I'm building/making a new stand for my turtle tank so my free time is going there for the time being. Almost done though, so I'll be back at it tomorrow :)

Wisdom, do you have any concept art in the works? If not do you require any help from the community? I'm sure some of us, myself included would be glad to help.

Donations wouldn't come up until I have it at least in/near Alpha (At least in my opinion), or maybe sooner if you guys really want to chip in :lol:

Seriously, the donation thought had not occurred to me until you mentioned it lol, thanks for the idea.

 

Concept art? No I have nothing besides google for that part lol. Though now that you mention it, I'll prob need an artist later when I'm done doing all the foundation stuff like gameplay mechanics and the likes. So that said, if you guys could start thinking up/designing transformations for the infected ladies/PC, that would save me time later when it comes to modeling everything. :)

 

Onto your last question:

I'm actually reading up on how to do quick time/reaction/button mash events in UDK's kismet so I know it's possible. Though I still need to figure out how the udk animation tree works, but once I figure it out, it shouldn't* be too hard to implement.

 

Btw before I forget, I'm aiming at three types of initial transformations:

Ranged, Grapple, and Melee. I did a brief writeup of what the A.I. would be like on the main page, just to help you better visualize what I need. So if possible try to match the transformation with the role. Let me know if you need anything more, and I'll be happy to help ;)

Just curious about combat, as I only saw something about melee (under stamina), do you plan on making it solely melee based? Or having it like DayZ/ZombiU were guns are a rarity? Or having it as a mix of shooty and choppy?

Guns are rarer than melee weapons, at least that's how I viewed it should be. As for the the Character Customization, I'm still reading up on it, but from what I've read, it's possible with a combination of morph targets/material effects. So yeah, I'll try to provide more information on it as I get closer to that part (I still need to finish the base model, and figure out scaleform for the sliders and such). It's just one of those things that seems simple, but turns out to be a lot more work than you expected lol. And as for what you might be able to customize? I'm thinking: Skin, Weight, Face, Bra Size, Hair, and possibly makeup.

 

Update Feb 14th:

Going to try and prototype some quicktime events today. I'll update this post when I can get them working. Also might do another mockup of the Menu in photoshop.

Just a thought but I'd say customization should be an afterthought. Maybe some pre-set avatars first and customization later on.

 

 

Yeah, but I'm still going to look into it, as there are other future projects that a character creation system would be very useful for me. So if I can figure it out now, that will save me some groundwork later :)

 

Though maybe you're right for this project, perhaps just pick a: face template + Hair Style + Skin tone + Weight + Bra Size. (These are all things that are going to get done regardless so I'm cool with doing them)

 

If I did it like that, that would save a lot of time as I wouldn't need all the morphs for every part of the face just the body, which makes my job easier (yay :P).

Question, what buttons on the keyboard do you guys want for the button mashing qte, I was thinking spacebar. Not sure tho, will try some combos out tomorrow and see what feels more natural I guess.

Spacebar is easily one of the most annoying keys to bash on a keyboard, and depending on the making of it, you may break it to one side or another, making the spacebar wobbly from left to right. And then you best be ordering a new one. I'd say E, might as well make "E" the "use key" or "action".

Good to hear combat being more focused on choppy then shooty. How many melee weapons do you plan on adding, same with guns? I ask cause variety is always nice, though I suppose you'll always end up having that favourite 1 and 2 weapons that you'll never part with.

 

I'm guessing you'll want to sneak around more often compared to charging at the enemy like a fool?

 

With the character, probably as someone said start off with avatars, but use them as kind of a preset for what you want your character to look like. What I mean is have the preset avatars come in different shapes and sizes, depending on what people ask for of course.

Weapon Variety:

I'll try to aim for a long range gun, three mid range guns, and two close range guns. Just to cover the basics there as I can always add more once I get these done. As for melee weapons, I was thinking of having melee weapons vary a bit with stats such as: Reach, Damage, and Speed. So there will be a similar number of melee weapons as there are guns.

 

On Sneaking:

Yeah it may be smarter to try and avoid charging the pile, but if you got the skill + weapons + people, by all means try and clear those bums out lol.

 

And finally:

I'm cool with doing preset avatars if you guys are really ok with that, I could also make whatever hairstyle each one has adjustable color wise with a little extra effort just so you have something to tweak. This would save me a lot of work I suppose too.

Update Feb 15th:

Expect things to slow down a bit this weekend, I'm trying to find the best way/method for creating terrain in/for the udk. I already found a few programs, I just need to learn how to use them now though lol...Will post some images when I get things all working, also GF is riding my ass on hanging/going out with her more, so I have to tend to that this weekend as well :P

Preset avatars are fine, I mean, customization can be overrated and I've seen plenty of games where customization itself made characters not very attractive.

Just a thought with preset avatars, perhaps make the kinda like classes? Like make a muscled woman more sufficient with blunt melee and throwing (If you decide to add throwing weapons) and has a higher stamina/health pool then the others, yet isn't as good with sneaking and sub-par with shooting, making her a tanky warrior class, a more slender lass, who's good with sneaking, sharp melee, sub-par shooting, but has a small stamina/heath pool then then previously mentioned, making her kinda of a rogue class. A middle ground looking female (between the two mentioned), sufficient when it comes to sneaking and shooting, yet lacks in the melee department, yet has speed on her side, which she could use to evade her pursuers, making her the kitey hard to kill ranged type. I could continue, but you get the idea I'm trying to get across, against up to you if you want to add classes or just make the looks cosmetic and let the player choose how to build their character.

I thought of doing a class like system with the presets, but until I get everything (Game mechanic wise) done for the most part, I won't be looking into that for a while yet.

 

Gun models would vary from each type, and maybe cosmetic skins later on when things are done, just so people can go collecting things (Golden guns ftw lol).

 

And finally as per the two initial infected, and yes I need names for them still so feel free to help out. They are best described by their eyes:

 

Red Eyed -> Sprinting Melee Type

 

White Eyed -> More Conventional frothing at the mouth slow Grapple Type

 

So like I said if you guys can think of proper names/nicknames, please do :heart:

How about Walkers and Runners... I mean, its the first that comes to mind.

 

 

That's kinda what I was thinking, but I wanted to see if someone else could think of something better before mentioning it and possibly contaminating peoples ideas lol.

My personal ideas would be for: Red eyed would be called Infected and White eyed would be called Walkers.

 

Btw sorry about the lack of content updates recently, I've been a bit busy lately. Will try to have more to show soon though. Would be awesome if I could do this as a job, as I would get so much more done lol.

I was thinking something similar to this. Perhaps have the official names, but have some NPC's that give them their own name. Just saying, try to come up with something original, yet straight to the point
