Still tweaking a few things but my little settlement is getting better and better.

The 'new' FN FAL - SA58 (Plus Kukri) is great (it could even become my favourite weapon) and i also might have found a way to get the 'Service Rifle' back into the game (Select Assault Rifle). Hopefully it works better than the old one i've had in the list before.

 

I think 'A Forest' works better than 'Pine Forest Redone'. The trees arn't as tall and you can scrap them in your settlements. The only drawback are the branches. Those arn't as good as in Skyrim and i hope there will be a better version in the future.

 

So far i only pushed through from Sanctuary to Goodneighbor. I made the few quests for the robots and got the rest of the experience for Lvl. 21 through building and defending against the Ferals. Overall i'm having a blast - only having to modpos things into position is a bit annoying...

With the next update FO4 should be complete with the mods i wanted to include. Then it is only working on the patches for the icons and bugfixes.

'Ghillie Suit' works, but what is with 'USAF ... '?

 

'Uniform' doesn't seem right, 'Equipment' or 'Coverall/Overall' too...

 

Do they have a special term for this kind of suit? Or would it simply be 'USAF Ghillie Suit'? As non-american i don't even know if they have a special name for it (what came up in my search wasn't really helpful). Camoflage? C-Suit? Cam-Suit?

Do you guys have an idea?

1. My old install doesn't CTD like this one does, something somewhere got messed up and i'm not in a mood to redo the entire list over a weekend. I just fixed a physics issue on my old one by dropping zex and going to ocbp.

2. The only way the USAF would use any kind of Ghillie suit is special forces. I mean their nickname is "chair force" but the classification would be camo, (type) suit and then size (s, m, l, xl, 2x, etc). Type being area of operation. (you don't wear a jungle ghillie suit in the snow, or an urban ghillie suit on the forest) it's 5 different kinds Urban, Jungle, Swamp, Snow and Desert. Funny thing about ghillie suits. they start out as just a BDU (battle dress uniform) and each person makes their own from scratch to make it custom.

How draining is SimSettlements on the script engine? Do the AAF mods cause major issues with SS2? If I am worried about long-term play, should I avoid one or the other? Does it matter with FO4?

Let's put it this way:

I got a system as described in the minimum specs (with a Radeon 570). with everything on i notice a scriptlag and the execution of some functions takes some time. But, and that is why i started a new game without SS2, the savefile gets bloated. Around 35 MB per save is way too much for my taste. Also SS2 still needs a few updates as it can crash the game.

Another thing is that i actually like building up my own settlements. SS2 makes some things easier, but sometimes it becomes a hindrance too. Like not being able to choose in the beginning what gets build in a certain spot or the exact placing of internal plots. And don't get me started about plots that only have a symbol instead of a preview. 

 

AAF works fine with SS2. Using something like AAF Autonomy Enhanced Redux proves that quite fast. :)

 

That is something you have to decide for yourself as only you know how much power (CPU/GPU/RAM) you got and how your system behaves (build a dozen systems with the same specs/components and all handle a bit different). There's a reason why i put up some minimum specs and i don't recommend to go below that... With those the game will run and is playable. The question is if you get along with lower FPS.

I have used ss, but it was the previous version and god rid of it due to ending up ctd ing, when going any where near the bigger settlements.  Personally where they are available I would rather use one of the clean and flat settlement mods, where the whole things is one flat area with nothing on it but the terrain and workbench and such, that way I can build pretty much what I would like to.

 

I may have to take a look into how settlement borders and such are used and create my own making them either square or rectangular where appropriate for the settlement, I just wish there was a way of plotting a grid across the entire build zone aligned with the borders to make building easier as that tends to be the thing that gets me, trying to line everything up, especially things like streets and such.  Some nice undamaged and biggish prefab buildings would also be nice and I have seen a few, think snappy has some it it, but they are iffy to place due to most settlements terrain and building layout.

Updated FO4B - ESL-Flagged ESP to version 1.2

Upload of the release candidate of my advanced 'Red Rocket Starter'. This is now ~95% finished. I just have to find a better mod for beds and do some final tweaks.

I'm suddenly getting a lighting glitch that reminds me of this.

 

Maybe its the ENB, maybe something else... Digging through the files to find the cause.

@Aylis - I go from 60-90fps all over the Commonwealth, and 100+ indoors down to a mere 19-25 around Fort Hagen and that area of the west side of the map. Any idea why?

Anyone else having a problem in this area as well? I've had a couple of hitches as things loaded now and then, but they're tiny stutters for a moment, this is a frame-crushing problem, that if I turn to look East, it goes away and my frames return to just under normal.

Thats a problem of the game and a few spots simply tank your FPS. There are a few mods that try to help (most of them unsuccessful).

 

The newest one for this is:

Previs Repair Pack Generation 4

Previs Repair Pack Compat (Beantown)

HK G3 v1.0a - PRPP

But i havn't got to test them yet (only have them on my list here but not even downloaded the files).

With a little bit of walking around/testing, it's specifically something with the terrain/looking down at Fort Hagen itself. Something with it's mesh with the rest of the Commonwealth. I TCL'd under the ground and I can look at anything except the Fort area, and my FPS jumps back up. I'll try the Previs repairs and see if it fixes it.

 

 

Nope, brings it up to 26 at most .... *sigh* Googling, well DuckDuckGo'ing it doesn't find me anything to try and diagnose a fix. Ah well, guess I'll suffer or avoid this part of the map. I've been a lot of places and so far this is the only one causing a drop. Bah.

Edit 2: Changed some settings in the launcher and things have cleared up a bit. HOWEVER

NAC X - Natural and atmospheric Commonwealth Tweaks - 

NAC X - NAC TWEAKS                                                      Removes the need to tweak the settings for the ENB

This one, for some reason breaks my Pip-boy/PIP-Pad light. Not sure what -if any- patch I'd need, but out of the box it stops the light from working, all it does is lens flare from my arm rather than actually illuminate, just in case you get that problem too, Aylis.

Havn't seen something like that before. I'll take a look...

 

Yep, thats an issue. Didn't notice that as i already use the helm with an integrated flashlight and added the mod afterwards. Will think of something.

You should be able to just load the mod in xedit, then delete all the spiders in the npc tab, run a check for errors which will show all the level lists and other stuff that use those npc's, then go through all those errors and delete those entries, which should do it.

Has anyone here used this mod? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48053.

It apparently changes the rendering to Vulkan and helps with performance, it says it helps with the draw calls which I believe is one of the most annoying things in fallout 4.

The thing is it also says it may need some work to making it work with buffout 4 (there is a comment on the page that says he made it work) and some mods may break.

Not recommended as it is atm. If we get the ENB working with it or a reshade that looks better then i might reconsider.

 

With my setup the improvement of the FPS is noticable but the visuals are too bad for my taste.

I just want to know how to install ZeX Fusion Girl manually. I'm new to Fallout but I don't like the vanilla body styles. I came across this but I don't know how to manually install mods. :/

Simple, you don't install manually. One mistake and then you likely have to start all over... Especially if you don't know exactly where you made it.

As i don't use Fusion Girl (still too many problems with it) you won't find mods in the list that support it. I actually added mods that help not to use that body.

 

Also it is a good idea to ask such specific questions about a mod on its own page.

I'll tell you how, but if you mess up it cannot be fixed, you would need to start with the mod list from the beginning. Use Mod Organizer 2. Doing so will allow you to just uncheck a box and turn that mod off if you are having problems with a new mod or setting up a mod list for types of playthroughs. (i wanna be a synth this playthrough, or a raider, etc. there are mods that help you do that specific scenerio. if you install them direct into game then if you don't want that mod you can't just delete that mod. 

With the warning out of the way. 

unpack the .rar/.7zip file drag the contents into your data file under steam/steamapps/common/fallout4

after the first few mods it will start asking if you want to overwrite, just click yes. 

Edit: i use True wasteland body myself, but it's up to you. You do still need ZAZ/ZEX for the skeleton rigging, last i knew it was on the atomic beauty page here on LL

OK Can anyone help me I have followed the guide to the tea and when I go to create my character I get pink since which in other Bethesda games means textures aren't reading the textures has done this both on my laptop and desktop any help would be appreciated.
