Yeah, I confirmed that that's the version I got-- windows even prompted me to rename when i redownloaded it because it was still in my downloads folder-- but maybe something went wrong with download/install cuz I did it over and now everything animates as it should. I still have that lighting issue but everything looks good now. Mostly relieved but also frustrated that something I have no control over did that. 

 

Also just for completeness, I then ran Nemesis following your instructions closely and it still continued to work so it was clearly just this one stupid error. Love to mod video games. Love when something goes wrong for a stupid reason.

The lighting is usually limited by the engine. I think it can only display six (?) lightsources at the same time. The modselection helps a bit but there are still a few corners with the problem.

So after spending most of today (well, technically yesterday now :P ) tracking down an issue that was causing a crash while trying to start a new game, it turns out the problem was Beards. Having beards enabled seems to have been causing the game to fail to recognize the player (at least based on my interpretation of the papyrus log). At this point I couldn't really be bothered to investigate further since after an entire afternoon of bashing my head against my desk trying to troubleshoot with ~580 mods I'm just happy it seems to be working now.

 

Love the guide by the way, I've definitely been here way too many times to redownload things after uninstalling and reinstalling skyrim (I finally have a decently large HDD so I shouldn't be doing that again lol).

For anyone curious (and hopefully more literate in papyrus's gibberish than me) here's the last bit of the log from one of my failed attempts to start a game. The first/third person base node warnings were consistently showing up at the end of the logs regardless of what other mods were doing, which leads me to suspect that's what was causing the crashes.

That's super reassuring. Excited to have the whole weekend ahead of me for finding good screenshots (and MCM of course lol) I'm already really really happy with what I'm seeing!

I fear some of you are going to hate me... But i got Pfuscher's textures working. We'll need a patch, as there are a few minor things i don't like, but ~98% is fine.

Battlestation... actually seems apt for mine.. i bought a thermaltake lvl 20 ht... Might need to get that put on the side... or from a book.. geological remodeling kit.

I really hope this will fix my problem with snow areas that I have been trying to fix for the past week, everything looks fine except roads mostly in the area around windhelm, they are not blended well with the snow and seem to have a different shade, it looks mostly fine when I illuminate the area with a torch. It was fine to me before I added Hyperborean Snow (it still was off but not as bad with as with Hyperborean Snow). I tried to use blended roads but that may have fixed that problem but bought a whole lot of others with it.

My guess is adding Pfuscher's textures is going to wipe about half the Texture section of the guide, is that accurate?

 

Asking because I'm jumping ahead and starting to go through mod conflicts is all :)

Nope. With exception of the listed texture mods, every other pack stays.

Out of curiosity, will the mod list ever include one of these More marriages /more followers mods? I dont mean one of these that let you go with a small army of 7 followers and just clean the game with level 1, BUT its pretty annoying to have high tier followers yet only being able to go with 1.  And marriage the same.

No to both. Only mods i have tested will end up in the list and i havn't found a single follower so far i'd like to keep.

welp! I think this is going to be the ultimate test for my old GTX1060 ?

I'll try with the Pfuscher's 2K versions and no caves (really 16K for the caves?!) and see how bad the hit is. Probably I'll have to stick to the current textures while I get my hands on a new card

I'm going with 2K too, but i recommend to install the caves pack. In small areas the resolution isn't that important anymore.

When you talk to him you should have options to select a direction of animations with several possible ones. If that doesn't work then you either set a filter or need more animations.

Thanks for the quick response as always, just had to register and enable some more from SLAL.  Do you have any tips on how to tune the config better through Sinful CBP, seems my best bet right?

Also, thank you kindly for your response earlier regarding adding Pfuscher's textures (Skyrim 2018, Skyrim 2020). For anyone interested in performance, I went with the "Highest Quality" version as a test and held around 35 FPS in Riverwood just walking through and talking to a few NPCs. That would be acceptable if not for FPS slowing to a crawl in Solitude and Windhelm. I swapped to the "2K Quality" version and FPS is at or above 60 the vast majority of the time.

 

CPU:  i7-9750H 2.6GHz

GPU:  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q 8GB

SSD:  Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB - M.2 NVMe

Rebuilding from scratch (chasing down two bugs) takes a lot of time even if you have everything in 'Backup'.

 

Six hours to chase this <insert adjective(s) of your choice here> bugger down.

I seem to be having an issue with texgen and Bakafactory's creature animations. Anyone have any ideas?
