As long as the Cancer Club is still alive, I think we can rule out any future Bethesda titles. :classic_sad: The unannounced and unwanted updates for the CC will break future versions of the Script Extender and discourage modders who use it when they have to update their mods to account for the revised SE every three to six months.

Well, I'd like to think that another dev is making a kickass rpg as we speak and intend to release mod tools for it. Seems like somebody would have noticed all the money Beth raked in with Skyrim for fucks sake! ;)

Divinity Original Sin 2 exists and is highly moddable in theory yet in practice, most mods simply adjust gameplay balance or change around a few values here or there.

Maybe it is tough to replace meshes in the game or perhaps the lack of facial animations for the characters is a disincentive for most people looking to make anything other than simple retexture mods (as far as visuals go)?

I've looked at modding it, but lost interest. I haven't figured out how to import meshes into the game and don't know if it's possible. It uses nif format for meshes and it should be possible to edit and import them, but the file structure is strange for me.

Gaming is just so... boring. The whole industry is starting to look like TV that is how boring it is. There is literally nothing on over the air or cable or satellite tv that is worth watching and most likely will never be worth watching except the morning weather and traffic reports if you even have time before having to rush off to work at the crack of dawn or some other terrible hours.

Outer worlds latest videos are looking more and moar boring and we know pretty much what dying light 2 will be about. Thanks to leaked release date we know outer worlds is coming out some time in august so dying light 2 will probably be released around the same time. Rage 2 has some interesting driving but the npc AI looks really stupid their job is to just kinda sorta move around so the player can do a bunch of combo moves on them or run them over with a monster truck. Fallout 76 is garbage... fallout 4 how many times can I play it again? ok look another new gun mod that was years in development just came out let me start over so it will work:-( Metro exodus was just a tech demo for RTX whoopdeedoo! no I will not spend more than a few hundred dollars on a video card nvidia!

Everything is looking more boring by the month. The only things left at this point are mechwarrior 5 and starfield maybe. I'm sure mechwarrior 5 will be pushed back because of dumb reasons so that leaves us with starfield and I'm sure it will be almost like fallout 76 at this point with no real story or point to playing it except to give money to bethesda with MTX and lootboxes.

The porn side of modding (thatwouldbethisplace) would take years to adapt to new games like the next elderscrolls game assuming it is offline singleplayer so other than that we have moar skyrim and fallout 4 to look forward to. The only major new thing left to happen to fallout 4 would be the total conversion mods like F4NV and FO3inFO4 or that miami thing looks odd and maybe won't get released or finished kind of a thing to me.

I looked at some video cards lately to see what was available and I noticed that amd doesn't really have anything to offer me except 5gb more video ram. My HD7950 card is only slightly worse than a 580 card and my card is still being sold online and it costs MORE than a 580 wuuut? The nvidia side of things says wait til next year as usual I just don't see the value in their products at $700 to $1000 no way. Bitcoin is dead nvidia can give it up already the govt decided to tax the shit out of all exchanges they could get their hands on so selling bitcoin for cash is most likely impossible now. I don't even mine anything anymore since I can't ultimately sell btc for cash without going through the nine gates of tax hell to do it and I'm sure other people feel the same way or the value of BTC would be way over $3000 by now.

With big fancy nvidia cards gimped by high prices this looks to be another year of mediocre boring games. Next year will be all service based online only attention span of a knat games for all those mindless cell phone users out there.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom has been out for consoles and Switch for seven months now and the company promised us a PC port "in early 2019." Well it's April '19 now and still no port to Steam! Unless Epic bribed them for timed exclusivity but that seems unlikely. I've seen enough vids of it to know I do want to play it.

Actually it was released on Dec 4th for the consoles and Switch so only five months they delayed the release cause they wanted to make sure everything was done right instead of rushing it out.

Just a few days ago on April 1st they let people know that they finished up with the PC features and are testing they don't want to rush things.

No wonder I missed that announcement. I literally don't trust anything I read or watch on April Fool's Day. But if they're actually taking their time and getting it right, that's a good sign in my book. I've been a fan of the Wonder Boy series since the 80's and this game feels so nostalgic it hurts.

I'm just disappointed with the direction the Mortal Kombat series has been going. I used to be a huge fanboy of the series. But after being in the minority of people who feels MKX was a step backwards from MK9 in almost everyway and MK11 looking like it is going to be more of the same with an extra scoop of wokeness I've just lost interest. So I'm a little bummed out about it to say the least. But I guess it saves me 60$ plus DLC fees.

Weird year being there is both a MK game and a Star Wars movie coming out I have no hype for.

TES: Blades, a mobile game not even out of early access yet, has already seen severe stealth nerfs and grind walls put into place. People who do have access must already potentially pay literally hundreds of dollars in microtransactions or spend thousands of hours grinding to reach the end game. Mobile games are already notorious for muscling people with microtransactions, and Bugthesda has earned a reputation for trying to squeeze more money out of its players in the most cynical of ways, but this is egregious even for both mobile games and BGS. The Metacritic score is standing at 0.7 for a game still in early access!

The truly sick part? This is F2P. They need people to spend money on loot boxes and microtransactions to make anything off of it. If it flops, they'll have wasted all the time and money spent developing it. Somehow I just don't see them making the necessary corrections to save this game.

Ernest, did you check out MK11 and the backlash that is happening right now? Seems like in order to get pretty much every unlockable you need to spend about 1500hrs or more playing the game, so they are gearing it more for microtransactions. I think only Oldrim has more than 1.5K  (over 3.5K) hours clocked, more if you include xEdit. :P Oh, and they are beginning to put out unlockable characters that should have been included in the base game for those "achievements".  Day 1 DLC, yups.

Yeah, I've heard about it. I expect some hardcore fanbois and paid-off "critics" to defend it up and down while the majority quit playing or just don't buy it to begin with. With MK11 it's worse because people are fed up with how Woke it is, how hypocritical the designers were with character design, and now a Trump reference by Shao Khan. It's just asking for a scandal.

Sadly I also expect the company--and other companies--to learn nothing should MK11 fail financially. Even as fans scream on every possible platform they can what went wrong.

As I said I kind of saw the writing on the wall with MKX. I've had difficulty trying to define why I felt so disillusioned with that than game but I think I know the answer now: compared to to playing MK9 playing MKX just felt... soulless. The more I tried to give it a chance the more I felt like I was playing a manufactured product. It felt like it had been planned out by a corporate committee of suits rather than a group of passionate game designers who never took themselves too seriously as most of the previous MK games felt like. So all the other many minor gripes I had with the game became magnified as the game itself just felt so bland for a franchise that has always been very edgy and tongue-in-cheek.

Didn't help that the PC port was a barely playable trainwreck or that when the developers found out people were using mods to create custom skin & make Rain/Baraka/Sindel playable they responded by trying to block us out by immediately patching in a bootup checksum. That was clearly much more important to them than focusing on the port's many bugs?

But anyways the irony is that in MK11 losing me as a customer the upcoming Samurai Showdown reboot gained me as a customer, since I decided to start looking elsewhere for my fighting game fix. Not to mention the irony that me being a fanservice loving pervert seems to have left me dodging bullet given the shameless microtransaction MK11 has also supposedly put in place. For now I eagerly await revisiting Soul Calibur 6 once Cassandra is released. Not to mention I have Smash Bros Ultimate. So while I've lost Mortal Kombat to right side of history paywalling, as Walder Frey might have said: "I'll find another..."

What's that smell, BioWare/EA? Oh, yeah! It's bullshit. ?

It's not even May yet and we're seeing "triple-A gaming studios" suffering severe financial failures. All of which still have the potential to get much worse. At this point I'm eager to see the game market crash. It seems to be the only way future producers will learn that things like loot boxes and microtransactions are bad for games. That or wait for the government to do something about. I'd expect the crash before that happens.

Gaming lately seem to pander to publisher wants of never ending desire of more micro-transactions and even worse loot boxes. I think monetization in gaming is just so bad now I pretty much avoid many so called big publisher games as if they are the plague.

An other issue is SJW infection in games. Latest example being Mortal Kombat 11, ton of male character are topless but every female is covered head to toe. This is just ridiculous. I could understand alternative costumes but making all females covered head to toe is silly especially considering how silly, gory and full of male and femme fatale mortal kombat used to have.

Lastly, I do not think we will get any proper third person RPGs with a good modding support as old Bethesda or Bioware games any time soon.

At this point when I think of the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6 all I can think of is "how are they going to completely fuck this up?"

My guess is it will be them trying to bottleneck the game's modablility into some restricted service designed solely for them to profit skim. Which of course will be bound to any censorship they and the console companies decided to dream up.

Well, it seems Nintendo is trying to take a stand on political content (in addition to schlongs) in one of their games. We'll see if they stick to their guns or cave in.

Using a video game editor to create a schlong is one of the jokes that fall into the category of "Okay, it was mildly funny the first 1000000000x you did it but it was stale and time to stop 10 years ago". Kind of like making a fat guy in a pink speedo with that giant afro haircut that always seems to appear in games.

As for the other stage ban I think suspending the person's account was a bit overkill but otherwise I understand why Nintendo did it. If someone wants to represent trans people in Smash Bros there is nothing stopping them from making a transgender Mii Fighter. Last thing the game needs is the stage designer turning into a cesspool of cocks and boldface political statements.

scoop of wokeness

It's not wokeness it's actually more akin to reverse sexism, friendly marketing edition. Almost every male has a beefcake outfit already in game, and if you buy the most expensive version, they're already unlocked.

I have friends that work at NRS and the PC aura they're projecting is utter bullshit. Three of the senior producers and one of the gameplay leads actually give the female employees nicknames based on their attractiveness, and this is public knowledge at manager level and above.

Shao Khan, Baraka, Geras, and Kotal Khan all have outfits that are just loincloths, and Kano and Kabal have biker shorts and nothing else. There is not a female equivalent, even for Sheeva, which is pretty funny considering Shokan as a race wear as little clothing as possible.

Heh...are they actually trying to play the realism card? ...in a game where your opponent gets half his bones crushed and 5 seconds later walks it off like "tis just a scratch". Seriously? ?

You gotta wonder how long it'll take for people to remember that sex(iness) sells. A lot of this is just bad business practice.

That's what I've been thinking as well. We've seen woke games fail disastrously (Battlefield V, Dishonored 2) because most gamers don't want overt politics or retconning in their escapism. How will MK 11 do commercially because of its woke aspects (like Jax's ending, which also retcons his character's personality) and the reverse sexism? Or, most baffling of all to me, the hand sign ? being associated with Nazism and thus forcing Johnny Cage's victory animation to be changed? This isn't including the grind walls and microtransactions being put in place.

I just did a search and saw the game being discounted by 17-25% already. It released four days ago. The same thing happened to Battlefield V?

The men actually have less clothes this time around, almost as if the new design direction is entirely political in a game about punching a half dragon in the balls 9000 times with a fist made out of shadowy fire.

Also, Polygon.

I don't have any friends that work NRS and I could have told you its a bunch of fake moral proselytizing by a bunch of out of touch suits who think being uber PC is the hip new thing the kidz™ like. Your account sounds accurate to the reality, lol.

From the looks of it MK11 is selling well. There are fanboys bragging its the best selling MK of all time, disregarding even if that's true the game launched on more platforms than the previous two installments and is giving out week one discounts. The real question is the same as with Captain Marvel: they could have pooped in a box and this installment would have sold just on its name. But how will its shady business practices and PC preachiness effect the company in the long run?

Truth be told it will probably be a long time before NRS truly feels the burn for their actions. But all those customers they lost from the microtransactions and reverse sexism probably won't be coming back anytime soon.
