Hair Physics Stops Working For No Cause or change to any files

Disclaimer: First time ever posting, sorry if this sin't the right place or didn't write this correctly

The Problem: I have downloaded Skin Mesh Physics Hair, (this) and it DID work, for a while at least.

I felt I had the perfect setup and physics for nearly everything working. But then seemly for no cause the hair didn't work.

This is after simply relaunching the game I didn't change anything

I installed all my mods again and everything stopped working and I had purple textures missing textures etc.

I googled it and the issue was said to be vram limitations (we'll get back to that in a moment)

So knowing this i downloaded ENBoost and guess what? everything worked again. So I went to bed last night excited to play and found out the hair doesn't work again....

So now I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence.

I don't actually understand how much vram I really have.

Heres the thing, I have two weak graphics cards (GT 750m) in SLI both together are equal to around a GTX 660. Each card has 2048mb of vram

SOO, Do I have 4gb or 2gb of vram? Some people say SLI doesn't matter and so I really have 2gb only.

Monitoring vram usage even at 800x600 resolution and all settings lowest possible in beth.ini shows around 1500-1600mb on each card. Technically I should be fine but if I only have 2gb then I guess not.

However I did manage to get my vram down to about 1023mb each card which would not go over 2gb limit and STILL hair physics don't work.

IMPORTANT: The other day when my hair wasn't working I reloaded a different save and her hair worked fine. What does this mean?

(reloading a save no longer works now)

Need some help here guys, thank you

EDIT: BTW, reinstalling some of my mods tends to fix it but it takes me like an hour to get all the physics working together again and it works for a while perfectly then on another save it stops again.

1. Are you using LE or SE? If you are using SE then you ae in the wrong place as SE has its own tech support section.

2. As far as I know SMP doesn't do hair as such, only wigs. That's for SE at least but I doubt it will be different for LE but you should check that.

3. Regarding RAM, VRAM and ENBoost, read this:

4. For getting a stable game and learning some of the fundamentals about modding Skyrim read this:

I"m using Legendary edition not special. Yeah I know they are technically wigs but they are amazingly better and you can change hair color in race menu.

I just got everything working together right now by reinstalling and messing with a ton of stuff. However there is no telling how long this will last. Next time i boot up the game it could not work again.

I have one problem though. When my female does her idle animation with a torch in her hand, I start sliding across the ground and she holds torch just by her side (not up in front). I've heard this is FNIS and to fix it you run skeleton arm fix. I did that 10 or more times and nothing will work. Is this vram?

you run skeleton arm fix

Whether this has anything to do with the problem I don't know but one does not 'run' the skeleton arm fix. Al you do is make sure that it is ticked in FNIS and leave it like that.

I dont get what you mean lol. Ticking it without activating it does nothing

Let's talk about that. First, the skeleton-arm fix is a box in FNIS. I'd have to double check but I am pretty sure that when you bring up FNIS in order to run it the box is the second one listed (I believe it comes after gender-specific animations). All you need to do is to tick that box. There is no additional mod to enable.

Second, there are mods that you can "use" without their .esp running. My load order includes, for example, XPMSE. However, if I printed it out (my load order that is) it would not show up. The mod has been enabled but the .esp has been ticked off. The point is that the two, while usually running together, do not necessarily have to. There are times and places, even with mods, when having a mod enabled but it's .esp ticked off is not just acceptable, but helpful.

Not always, but sometimes that happens because of the installation or reinforcement of an armor, in my case it happened with one of the armor of Gomaperopero

You may just need to go to inventory, remove the item then put it back on if this is possible. Some physics items will have this problem as loading the object from the save my not read the nif file the same as when you equip it. Or it could be a problem of other armors with hdt physics causing some unexpected conflict.

It cannot get any more simple - you tick the box and that is that. You do not have to 'run' anything. The box in FNIS has chuff all to do with esps in your load order.

You do that whether that box or any other box is ticked or not.

Did you look at the links and read the info on ENBoost and the rest? Have you installed and configured ENBoost accordingly? Have you now ascertained your available VRAM amount?

There's nothing like a good understanding of a subject and a systematic approach to fixing problems and that is nothing like a good understanding or a systematic approach. Do yourself a favour and do some studying on haow to mod Skyrim, it will save you lots of grief further down the road.

That look EXACTLY equal to my problem with HDT chains.

When i equip HDT chains on player or followers it works perfect, but after some time playing... stop works...

I unequip the chains, equip it again and works again for some time...

I close the game, open it again and works for some time...

I load another save and works for some time...

The problem, at least for me, is caused by the activation of OsAlocators in Crash Fixes 12.

Disable OsAlocators in CrashFixPlugin.ini solve my HDT problem but cause me others problems... Seems that i can not have all...

But i'm not alone... maybe you have the same problem.

Don't get what you mean "no additional mod to enable".

What I'm saying is open FNIS tick skeleton arm fix and click update fnis behaviour. you guys saying you shouldn't hit update fnis behaviour?.

All I'm saying is tick the box and click update fnis behaviour. not talking about other mods, or activating esps, just clicking the fnis window to update behaviour nothing else

With FNIS all you have to do is tick the box. Click update behavior or not, either is fine.
