Still can't get Ivy to attack the player when they steal her stuff... I'm this [..] close to writing my own script for it.

I checked all her factions and such.. crime scripts.... it all seems to be set fine, yet.. she's perfectly OK with me stealing her stuff...

Perhaps she just likes me...

And I know this is just a minor detail.. likely people wouldn't even notice as you don't usually steal stuff when the NPC is right there (you know you'll be caught anyway).. but she needs to be perfect.. period..

Have you tried this?

Also, you can make a faction, that is set to have PlayerFaction as Enemy. Apply that to Ivy and then pIvy.StartCombat(PlayerREF).

Should do the trick.

No not yet. The issue is that I don't want to poll the items, then check their ownership faction. Normal NPC's do attack/try to take it back when you steal stuff so it must have something to with her factions. I think that the currentcompanion- and hasbeencompanion factions might have something to do with it so I'm going to try to remove those before recruitment, to see if that will make her attack upon 'theft'.

I already checked the 'crime' stuff in script for followers but that only seems to count for murder. I think followers or potential followers might be completely exempt from theft crime, merely remarking to the player on it. I'm going to try to steal from Publick Occurances while Piper is there and Nat is outside, to see what happens.

If that fails then I'll likely just add a conditional check for when the player picks up items, then if Ivy has not been recruited yet, and if the player is not in the _ivy_ownership faction I'll make her attack, or even start a scene where she confronts the player.

OOOohhh. I should have read better - too early in the morning and I was up late catching up on Game of Thrones, lol.

This is for the root cellar. So, this gets tricky, because youre going to need to modify every item in the cell - which isnt a bad thing, since you already have the cell edit there to begin with, due to placing Ivy there. So, truly, there is no harm in modifying anything else in the cell.

What youre going to need to do is load the Root Cellar cell in the CK and select each item that can be picked up and then change its faction ownership, so that when the player hovers their cursor on it, it shows in RED and says steal instead of pickup. To do this, you need to make an IvyOwnership faction, set to have an IvyOwnerShip set as an ally. And then apply that faction, as said, to each object the player can pick up. Since the player isnt in the faction, the RED STEAL will show.

image.png.0708293d0c387d59ef9a56dfce818ac2.png

Looking at Publick, you can see there is a faction in play on items the player can pick up, as opposed to the root cellar.

image.png.0590cc3af677841073074d8bb33fbd4b.png

This is that faction, set to ALLY with itself and having members.

image.png.bcc612b2d3aabab68976253f7ba99661.png

Once you have Piper as a potential companion NPC, meaning she is available to be one, the scripting in game adds you to that faction.

PlayerREF.AddToFaction(DmndPublickOwnerFaction), which then gives ownership.

So make a new faction. And add it to Ivy's ACTOR record, in the factions section, so the game knows she is a member of the faction.

image.png.df64b85ab052af20dddffdc9e2d4503e.png

Once Ivy is recruited, just add the player to that faction.

Within that little bit of work, you can make the root cellar have all items belong to Ivy, be considered theft if taken before recruitment and then make them available to the player once recruited and the player is added to the ownership faction you have created.

Quite easy, just a little tedious to set all items in the Root Cellar to IvyOwnerFaction or whatever you call it in the end. Hope this helps, that its exactly what you were looking for.

I know there are those that feel I shouldn't be helping you with Ivy, that you shouldn't accept any help from me, being what they personally consider to be the worst possible choice of a person to assist you. But, I don't care about those opinions anymore. Bothered me at first, doesn't now. Because the truth is, their personal feelings aside, I am the best person to help out - likely the only one that is - and they should get over themselves and recognize that fact.

So... you know, as always pal, when you need it, I'll do my best to share my knowledge with you. /rantover

<snip>

Yes thanks for the write up! I actually did set it up just like that!

I made a faction called _ivy_ownership, and you can actually batch those items (you can select them in the list, then do 'batch assignment': https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Batch_Assignment). Only Ivy is a member of the faction, and I make the player a member of the faction, and it works. After recruitment the player 'owns' the items as well.

Thing is, before recruitment, when the items are red and I steal them, Ivy just sits there.

So I made a crime faction for her and everything, using the 'shared crimes' list.

At this point I'm pretty convinced it's something hard coded into the follower scripts, the next thing I'll try is to remove the companion factions before recruitment, then add them at the proper time, but I think it's not even that. After that I'll look into the followers script to see if I can find a clue there.

Which reminds me, I need to test Piper's reaction when I steal her stuff, I'm sure I set it up the same way for Ivy's root cellar.

As to what people think.. love their positive opinions, ignore the negative ones. :)

Ivy is a passion project, for all of us, for different reasons...and if anyone has problems with you helping, they can come talk to me.

because it took all three of us to make Voiced Ivy a reality. and if the three of us can still collaborate seamlessly, then everyone else needs to fall in line. stop trying to “stand up for me”.

havent I showed you yet that I am a force of nature? I need no protection.

I just logged to say that you guys made the most perfect companion on any Bethesda game up to date! The amount of content that Ivy has is unbelievable, I am on the third playthrought and every now and then I hear Ivy saying something I have never heard before,  hundreds of hours running around with Ivy and I still hear she saying something I have never heard before, this is unbelievable! You can feel the amount of passion you guys put in this, Ivy almost feels real on the game, I stopped the game the first time I heard Ivy breaking throught 4th wall because I got confused if she really was becoming sentient! You guys are not making a simple companion mod anymore, you are making a new standard in follower modding with Ivy. Congratulations. Counting the days for the release of Ivy 5.0!

Also Dev update for today, just a cut & paste from my own to-do list so I don't have to make an elaborate write-up:

(DONE) - ADD TO DECRYPTION KEY: "PLEASE INSTALL THE FIRMWARE UPGRADE I PROVIDED TO YOU ON THE HOLOTAPE WITH THE DECRYPTION KEY PROVIDED IN THIS NOTE."
(DONE) - Add 'how do you feel about us?' levels for each affinity level so players don't get a 'grayed-out' option when new affinity level dialogue has opened up.
(DONE) - IVY ATTACKS/TAKES STUFF BACK WHEN YOU STEAL IT.. (!)

(DONE) - Add 'introduction' talk after recruitment (where Ivy introduces herself to the player)
(DONE) - 'WHY DO YOU HAVE YOUR WEAPON OUT' > BELOW first talk introduction..
(DONE) - ADD: IVY COMPLAINS WHEN SHE IS CHATTING WITH PLAYER AND SHE IS STILL COVERED IN BLOOD AND GUTS..
(DONE) - FIX: ZAP ATTACK > HAPPENS TOO OFTEN AND SHOULD HAPPEN AS SOON AS IVY TELEPORTED TO ENEMY.. ALSO > 'STATE OF THE ART..." <-- Line sucks monkeyballs.. keep it very short. HC's must have 1-3 words max for timing issues.
(DONE) - FIX: ADD OPTION TO HOLOTAPE TO DISABLE WARPING WHILE IN SNEAK MODE.
(DONE) - FIX: ADD DIALOGUE FOR IVY SPECIFIC TO LOW LEVELS OF AFFINITY.
(DONE) - FIX: ADD PLAYER DIALOGUE (ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?) TO THE HYPERCOMBAT POST INSTALLATION SCENE>PERHAPS SOME OTHER PLAYER DIALOGUE AS WELL (CONCERN ETC..)
(DONE) - FIX: SENTENCE WRONG IN HYPERCOMBAT INTRO (SECOND SENTENCE OF INTRO)
(DONE) - FIX: Make NPC's look at Ivy when she speaks(!) (Find more when you're playing??)

Let it be known that I don't spend a lot of time on the way Ivy looks. I realize that 70% of players customize her any way.

I do want her 'default' looks to be better than what they are in the current release though, so I've spent a bit of time in giving her appropriate hair and to touch up her make-up just a tad..

I have also decorated her cellar with some personal items, that will engage scenes with Ivy to help further introduce her to players. When first 'speaking' with Ivy, she now also gives a proper (awkward) introduction.. just as it often is when you meet someone new that you really like..

Back to her looks: Ivy now has half long hair, cropped to her back. (I thought about this quite a bit.. I actually wanted to give her short hair, like many real life high-class escorts have / I did my homework / to allow them to wear wigs for customers and such..). But decided to give her 'half' long hair, cropped backwards.

She is now a natural blonde, including her eyebrows. The first two images are Ivy 'vanilla unmodded', the later images with clothes from Easygirl. Nothing was modded in her body/face in these screenshots. This is her 'vanilla' face.

I have to say she reminds me a lot of Felicity (from Arrow) suddenly.. especially in the first shot. ?

(edit sorry for spamming my own thread).

Also: I thought that Ivy's HyperCombat was overpowered but a Rambo-Gung-Ho Raider made a total Ninja move against her just now when I was playing. As Ivy teleported in, he picked her up and slammed her on the ground.. I've never seen anything like it, I've only seen companions do that... Ivy was totally flabbergasted and out on the floor, and her HyperCombat attack had fumbled badly.

I've decided.. to leave this in. I love it. It's awesome.

I could easily override the combat targets packages and make them sit there to take Ivy's punishment, but this way skill level (e.g. easy/survival) still matters in her HC. In fact I might even make a 'defense' perk for Ivy's HC that will allow her to block this attack at a certain percentage.. ?

Hi Reginald,

I've been monitoring the updates and such on our beloved Ivy and she is so much more now then she was like your dream is coming more to fruition. I cannot wait to start all over again with Ivy and of course never doing her wrong just not in me. I really love the new look you gave her. She does look like the Felicity charecter and Chic had a one off synth child. Kudos to all the work you and Chic have put into Ivy.

Pictures of how you envisioned her?

For science, of course.

?

The original inspiration for Ivy in '17 was my first true love.. the woman I fell in love with before I ever even saw her.. (Stevie Nicks)

But Jessica Kelsey Amlee has been the 'model' so far for Ivy since I've worked on 1.5:

I've always been a huge Fleetwood Mac fan. I remember going to see them a few decades back. Unfortunately, it was not their best year(s). SN wasn't even with them at the time. I don't think CMcV was either for that matter. They toured with Oreleans, (Still the one) Pat Benatar, and REO Speedwagon. REO stole the show. FWM tried to re invent their sound and went all out for a hard rock sound giving up on their signature acoustics and it did not work. Their show was terrible and the venue emptied out in the middle of the show. It wasn't long before they returned to their acoustics. Which, they never should have abandoned in the 1st place. I still love their music though.

I've only seen that melee throw move a handful of times from non-companions, usually a gunner/raider doing it. [War of the Commonwealth ftw]

[ @ChicGeek as well]

Ivy is honestly what players should have had from two or three base-game companions.
The voicework is great, and actually seems like someone's following you around the Commonwealth as you murder your way across it.
Outside of the common comments, [Kiss., and the general comments when you're interacting] I don't think I've heard one repeated line, in the last four [on and off] days of playing.

And I'm only half-way across the Commonwealth!

And you're still updating her?!

Thanks for the kind words all!

Once you have recruited Ivy, you will want to take some time to explore the items inside her cellar.

That's all I will spoil for today. :)

Development update for today:

(DONE/FIXED) - IVY'S GUN BECOMES UNLOCKED AFTER UNDRESSING. MAKE IT SO IT'S 'LOCKED'.

(DONE/FIXED) - Make Ivy equip her glasses as well after undressing.

(DONE/FIXED) - Stop Introduction Quick Start in Cheat Terminal
(DONE/ADDED) - <REDACTED>
(DONE/ADDED) - <REDACTED>
(DONE/ADDED) - <REDACTED> (Preferably HIDE it until Ivy has been recruited)..
(DONE/FIXED) - Ivy's LipSync in Mysterious Note Scene.

I have to say Agile and Scrum CAN WORK.. If you are the only team member.. :P

(Sorry I'm just a waterfall kind of guy)
