DCI-Session Two

After last week's intro the adventure really gets underway! This is the most time I have ever spent on an entry (maybe tied with part 3 which is most of the way done and possibly to be surpassed by part 4 which has not yet begun) so if you liked it let me know and help me keep the motivation to pour untold hours into these things ?

That's what happens when you split the party... Every time....

So is this a Squad Wipe or is the DM going to let this go on for 10 or 12 more sessions while he thinks up of a new campaign and let's the players create new characters?

Also!  Rules Laywer Time:

Spoiler

Technically a Barbarian should be able to Rage for 10 Turns per rage.  And if She's Level 1 She should be able to Rage AGAIN after the first rage.  So 20 turns of straight raging should be enough for her to get to that Goblin King!

Loving this DND Theme.  :-3

Thanks! I have considered the possibility of having several parties that exist in the DCIverse but that's something for after this adventure concludes. Also...

3.0: https://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/barbarian.htm

Rage (Ex)

A barbarian can fly into a rage a certain number of times per day. In a rage, a barbarian temporarily gains a +4 bonus to Strength, a +4 bonus to Constitution, and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves, but he takes a -2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase in Constitution increases the barbarian’s hit points by 2 points per level, but these hit points go away at the end of the rage when his Constitution score drops back to normal. (These extra hit points are not lost first the way temporary hit points are.) While raging, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except for Balance, Escape Artist, Intimidate, and Ride), the Concentration skill, or any abilities that require patience or concentration, nor can he cast spells or activate magic items that require a command word, a spell trigger (such as a wand), or spell completion (such as a scroll) to function. He can use any feat he has except Combat Expertise, item creation feats, and metamagic feats. A fit of rage lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the character’s (newly improved) Constitution modifier. A barbarian may prematurely end his rage. At the end of the rage, the barbarian loses the rage modifiers and restrictions and becomes fatigued (-2 penalty to Strength, -2 penalty to Dexterity, can’t charge or run) for the duration of the current encounter (unless he is a 17th-level barbarian, at which point this limitation no longer applies).

Rage (Ex): A barbarian can fly into a rage a certain number of times per day. In a rage, a barbarian temporarily gains a +4 bonus to Strength, a +4 bonus to Constitution, and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves, but he takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase in Constitution increases the barbarian's hit points by 2 points per level, but these hit points go away at the end of the rage when his Constitution score drops back to normal. (These extra hit points are not lost first the way temporary hit points are.) While raging, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except for BalanceEscape ArtistIntimidate, and Ride), the Concentration skill, or any abilities that require patience or concentration, nor can he cast spells or activate magic items that require a command word, a spell trigger (such as a wand), or spell completion (such as a scroll) to function. At the end of the rage, the barbarian loses the rage modifiers and restrictions and becomes fatigued (–2 penalty to Strength, –2 penalty to Dexterity, can't charge or run) for the duration of the current encounter (unless he is a 17th-level barbarian, at which point this limitation no longer applies; see below).
A barbarian can fly into a rage only once per encounter. At 1st level he can use his rage ability once per day. At 4th level and every four levels thereafter, he can use it one additional time per day (to a maximum of six times per day at 20th level). Entering a rage takes no time itself, but a barbarian can do it only during his action, not in response to someone else's action.

And fuck all the nonsense WotC has made since then so Pathfinder: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/barbarian/

Rage (Ex)

A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear’s endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.

While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except AcrobaticsFlyIntimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.

So assuming pathfinder rules if Zugrina has a constitution of 14 she can rage for... 6 rounds per day ?

Really adorable work with dismembering and halving those goblins :D Did you do it with PS or nif editing? Or both?
I did something similar once, but it looked not really authentic.

And yes, you know what I got here ^_^

Thanks! I agree that this is my best, the whole goal was really just to see how far I could go with everything, just turn every dial to 11 ?

All the goblins that aren't in a default Bethesda riekling pose are custom made, posed, chopped up, mixed with burny and bloody bits, etc. It's extremely time consuming ?

Happy that you're enjoying all the little bits of D&D parody and references. I wasn't sure how many people on here would appreciate all of it so I'm glad it's landing!

Thanks! Apart from the text (of course), some color/ brightness correction and a few edits to some of the goblins eyes (to fix their sight line) everything is done in game/ with nifs.

As for the defilement, I guess you'll have to tune in next time! ?

?I'm not familiar with 5e really, in fact I haven't even played since it came out. This is mostly based on my own misspent youth so mostly 2e with a dash of 3e but there's also some WoW elements and of course ultimately the story will take precedence over any specific rules. I kind of had a loose idea in my head that each character was sort or representing/ playing by a different rule set or era of RPGs but it's more of a background thing I have in my head to guide how I write them al rather than a full on joke or lot element. Bjorngar is meant to be the super old school for example. I wanted him to look like a Larry Elmore drawing.

And honestly that's what makes D&D/ RPGs so great- at the end of the day they are really collaborative storytelling and the rules are there to guide the process but can always be bent to get out of the way. It's something that no other activity can really equal on that front.

Imgbox has been super wonky this morning so I swapped to pixxels but that has a capped image size so I've gone back to imgbox now that it seems to be up and running again. If there are dead images or anything post or send me a PM or something and I guess I'll swap back (again ?)

Welp it's all fucky again. I hate imgbox so much. Added a link to an alternate gallery in the main post and here: https://pixxxels.cc/gallery/qnJhF39

Really don't want to keep swapping back and forth so hopefully this will be a good stop gap and they can get their shit together

No Imgbox technical issues today, though I remember episodes of some of my uploads taking time to display. And what a display here ! I'm shocked by the amount of violent effects on this one ! The pics with the barbarian going full hack 'n slash were amazing, specially considering that (with some exceptions) your specialty was humor rather than action. That berseker rage was brutal ! And visually great, not even sure photoshopping images with & without actors would've provided better results. Equally time consuming though (possibly more), but it makes sense you did the models with ingame content, as the textures were familiar.

Anyway, also liked the constant D&D and MMORPG humoring, the overall pace, and the efficient dialogues, with always well lighted/posed/expressive screens. Excellent job !?

Malicia : « Looks they've all got big problems, uh.

They should use scrolls, or potion, those things can help when you're in trouble. Or ask M. Spy to load a better save. :classic_angel: »

Thanks! Your comment that the fights in my entry of Mixed up by Moonlight lacked impact was partly the inspiration for these fight scenes. This series as a whole is really just about pushing everything to the limit.

I'm not sure about that. I actually do a pretty substantial amount of photo editing these days but it's all designed not to be seen (removing clipping, fixing character's knees in kneeling poses, compositing in hands and feet to fix ground clipping in kneeling or laying poses, compositing images with and without clothes together to make better upskirt effects, one of the images of Dirk grabbing Cassidey's nipple in the last series had him totally composited into the image, one of the ones of Cass laying in bed with the vampire in the series before that had her hand and boot composited in to fix clipping in that animation and so on) so no one ever really notices or mentions it. In my opinion the in game way of doing this took substantially more time (though I find it more enjoyable to do). Keep in mind that every single goblin not doing a vanilla riekling animation is hand posed rom scratch before any of the gore effects even get started and those are fairly tricky/ time consuming to do.

You're probably right. Yet Photoshoping entirely external objects into an image takes significantly more time than just fixing visible flaws. But going as far as creating 3D models for those... this is one step further in the ingame process, and doubtlessly eats considerable amounts of time. At least with that method, you haven't got to wonder about the proportions and lighting of the added object !

Yeah I have done a bit of adding external objects (mainly compositing actors from one shot into another but also adding small things like the arrow Cass blocked with a holy shield in the gritty reboot. The cover shot for the next entry of this series is the most edited image I have done. Everything is from in game but about half of the goblins and the sign were shot separately and edited in). The lighting is definitely tricky but I find that ends up taking more in game time than editing time since it's more about matching the in game lighting on the object/ person being added to the lighting on the shot they're being added to.

Unless you mean adding things entirely from outside of Skyrim, that's something I haven't done and likely never will. I like my edits to be very under the radar and blend in. I have tried doing things like motion blur and such but it just isn't my style so I always end up going back to a version without it for the final release. I've slowly transitioned from "all practical effects" to more of a Christopher Nolan "okay, we'll flip this tractor trailer for real but then we'll use cgi to hide the wires" type of stance ?

"Pits of Defilement"  Yep, that's definitely Tomb of Horrors with a sexual twist.  Right...right?  Instead of dying, you get defiled.

SpyVsPie - What lighting mod and method did you use to get that excellent behind light - no pun intended - for your blond character in the Hushed Silence and Whoah Oh No pics?  That looks amazing.  Very subtle and goes well with the skin mod on that character.

As usual, I love your sense of humor and this episode reminds me of Black Adder where Baldric starts off with "I have a cunning plan..." :)
