I'm having a hard time finishing the backgrounds, I'm going 60% of what I want to achieve, I hope to have it by Sunday, some samples in the spoiler (I plan to do +30 new backgrounds).

What you're doing in really nice ❤️ I wish I could help more but I'm still totally unsure myself on what to use yet, and the folder of hentai pictures and things I've been collecting for fun things I -might- be able to use is already like 10gb so there's no way of sharing it. Ive also just been trying to organize like -all- the porn character model images from all the character porn mods into a single folder for easier and faster editing, but I keep screwing up the renaming part and I need to find the right way to do that.

 

Ah, but if you don't mind input, there are some things you can do to blend them in more like what I've been doing with my edits. Like if you're using photoshop I've been playing around with the following:

1) make at least 2-3 duplicates of the new image layer. At least 1 version that's turned off, to keep as a back-up in case playing around with the other duplicates goes wrong.

2) Use eyedropper tool to select the outline/shadow color in the darkest dungeon background being worked on, since is almost never black.

3) Select the bottom duplicated layer, lock it, and then fill it with the above non-black colour.

4) Right-click on the layer, go to 'blending options', apply a stroke effect. Make it 1-4 pixels wide, and give it the same non-black dark colour above. This will give the image a thick outline like Darkest Dungeon artstyle has.

 

5) Select the top-most layer, set it's 'blending mode' to 'lighten' and anything that's black or super dark will be turned into the above colour. This makes it blend really really well.

6) Apply a photoshop filter or two, to quickly try and give it a more Darkest Dungeon art style. So far I've been using the filters 'Poster Edges', 'Watercolour' and 'Fresco', but I want to tinker around with others as well, especially at different settings.

7) To make it 'darker' just lower the opacity of the top layer.

 

I'll try to make an image sometime showing this, but I hope that this makes sense and can help you out ❤️

I created a couple of dungeon backgrounds for myself using the monster girl corpse sprites. Thought I might as well share them here if anyone wants to use them too.

I'm loving all the background edits that are being made! That being said, I can't help but notice that everyone's making edits of the same ol' vanilla backgrounds. So here, have this big compilation of ALL the background mods from the Steam Workshop. What's inside is the following:

 

Ruins -- 37 hallway images, 15 rooms

Weald -- 31 hallway images, 27 rooms

Warrens -- 27 hallway images, 2 rooms

Cove -- 27 hallway images, 10 rooms

(none of these are lewd, btw)

 

And as for anyone who just wants more background variety in general, these images are all numbered AFTER the original hallway tiles, so you can just drag and drop these into your vanilla Darkest Dungeon directory and it won't replace a thing, so there shouldn't be any compatibility problems.

Hi im new to Darkest dungeon and loverslab but got a quick question. I was wondering if to get a lot of the mods im seeing on the site here if they require any of the DLC to use them rather save my money if I don't need to buy the  DLC.

Thank you very much, unfortunately, English is not my native language, so I cannot fully understand ... I have tried to follow the steps but in the end I have lost myself ... well, I don't know anything about design and my biggest problems are the one to eliminate the bottoms of the images, I do it manually but it takes too long, so much so that I want to put aside the development of this mod, but good; I use the "lasso" tool on PS5, I would use the "quick select" tool but the image always remains cut out when I pass it to the background, and it is more difficult to mix it with the environment, so I am choosing the long way ... well at least I already reach 90% of the total I want to publish, I will publish it shortly. Do you know any faster method?

jaja, This first version of cove, I have tried to do something light without many tentacles and with something related to it. My general vision would be the following: torture themes for crypts, tentacle / violation themes for weald, monster / bdsm themes for warrens; then courtyard / darkest dungeon; Also, I cannot work with very complex images because they are very difficult to edit for me, so it will be something that is within my abilities.

Only ones that modify DLC content, like shieldbreaker and flagellant skins

One last question from me. Is there away to browse the mods here like Nexus and steam or do I need to just scavenge through this thread here to find stuff?

With the amount of activity here it'd be nice if some merciful soul were to create an index but that would probably be a massive undertaking at this point.

So the answer is scavenge unfortunately.  I'd go newest page to oldest as I think some of the mods early in the thread have either been updated or made part of a collection. Speaking of that, would all of you lovely people working on backgrounds currently organize your stuff into ongoing collections or something? Genuine question: Mega can do that, right? Just upload files under a tab? I've never done it before but I've seen some downloads in this thread that appeared to use something like that. If nothing else, please add your name on to the zipped file so I can make sure I know who made what when I'm organizing my download folder.

38 pages isn't too vast. Just skim through, and download what appeals to you. Considering MOST skins don't conflict with one another, it shouldn't be an issue. 


But, if you're feeling extra lazy, just do a "this topic" search for "Compilation".  There's a few posters who have uploaded MEGAs of all the skins they're using.

Oh, sweet. I was worried about repetition for hallway tiles, this mostly solves this. I just need to add them to the background folders, without any changes to config files, correct?

Yeppers, just drag and drop. Shouldn't have to replace anything or edit any files. The game tends to just look into the dungeon folders and grab whatever is there, so you don't even need to update a text file so the game realizes they're there.

Also, I love the van Hellsing grave robber. I don't know about anyone else, but I think Xelsword's GR is by far the one I'm most looking forward to.
