First thing to do is enjoying the vanilla experience... the flow of combat in this game is a bit different in this game compared to other rpg (and that's not taking into the account the difficulties with managing your hamlet).

As for mods that depends on what you are after... a lot of the mod content is adjusting the apperance in this game (lewder, prettier or lore friendly whatever strikes your fancy) but there is also mods that revamps the game either by adding bosses, enemies or entire new campains or heroes (some that are OP some that are not...). If you become bored with vanilla a mod that revamp and rebalances the entire game is called "pitch black dungeon" for example... there is mods on nexus but due to how tedious updating mods there compared to steam workshop those can sometimes be out of date (but if you only replace images in the game files this does not tend to matter). If you just want to recieve the content on this page trend i'm sure some good samaritan would be willing to share their library of mods (i'm still in the middle of sorting through the last 60 pages of this site after quitting this game for half a year xD)

The game works just fine as is in vanilla but in my opinion there are two mods that is invaluable to have and those are faster walking speed and faster combat (or some variation of those) because the base game sprites are just that... sprites and they are by themselves not that interesting to look at after a while. It's understandable that the mod community for a game that was released 6 years ago can feel frightening but I would say try vanilla and figure out what kind of mods you want and i'm sure we will be able to help you further... in my experience this community is super nice and helpful :D oh and don't be afraid to check guides if you want deeper understanding of the classes roles in combat... a youtuber by the name FilthyRobot covered most of the game rather well 3 years ago (I don't agree with everything he says but he got some good ideas on how to approach this game).

If you do start modding the game save a copy of the game files before you begin (resetting them all is tedious after all if you only need one specific file xD)

Hope this rant helps somewhat and have a good day :D

I just watched like 5-8 vanilla playthroughs, is there a pack where i can download just a bunch of mods or should I just read through every page? xD

what is this? this it flagelant or leper? why flagelant skills in it? i asked to do this skin as a leper's skin

It's Leper.

I changed the skill icons to Flagellant skills as part of the port, but they're still functinally Leper skills. In all ways but visual, she's a Leper. You can switch back the original icons if you want, as I provided a backup Leper folder because it was literally no trouble to do so.

Most of the content you'll find is new classes, skins, and Lustiest Lair.

For new classes, go to the Steam Workshop or the Nexus, as those don't tend to show up here. Even if you don't have steam, you can download mods off it, though I don't remember the method off the top of my head...

https://www.nexusmods.com/darkestdungeon/mods/

For skins, there's a massive pack containing most of the hero skins, and Xelsword has been making balls-to-the-wall replacers that change the skeletons of characters, making them incompatible with others. The latter can be found on the Nexus.

For monsters, most can be found again on the Steam Workshop, though there are a few that exist in spirit in this thread, the Shambler, some CC monsters, Dan has a mountain of color alts for replacing modded monsters in his thread...

For building skins, most can be found on the Nexus, with a few offshoots running wild in this thread and Dan's.

For Lustiest Lair, it's the most comprehensive lewd overhaul to date. Little changes in actual gameplay, but practically all the text is changed, some new enemies are added, and a few other gameplay tweaks to pornify the campaign as much as possible.

@BdsmBoy

Always with the transformation classes, isn't it? Well, no, my last request was vanilla, so I suppose I have little ground to REALLY complain...

I'll get on that as soon as I'm able. I anticipate few issues, but don't want to be too overconfident...

There are a couple of mod boundless in this page thread, one of them is just a few pages back as well as the options Fasterflight225 mentioned. Otherwise yes you basically got to go on a treasure hunt here and other websites since we don't know what sort of mods you want. Alternatively I could just post my heavily modified game folder so you could just copy paste it and be done with it (warning my preference is on the heavily lewd or extreme, no or little guro... needs CC, CoM and shieldbreaker) but while I have added all Xelsword classes released on steam most of the newer stuff is not yet added (for example the enemies skins posted last page).

@BdsmBoyHoly shit, this class's animations are bananas. Thank fuck her developer made her portable out-of-the-box, or I don't think I'd have been able to touch it very much.

Lucia Bounty Hunter skin.rar

Do note that her defend sprite is a little small and off to the side. This is a bug from the source that was faithfully ported and I can't easily fix it. I tried, trust me.

As usual, testing was not extensive, so report bugs and all that.

Dude u are the best. Thx a lot. That skin fits perfectly for BH. Small def sprite looks normal. The only thing seems strange is blue effect things when i use "mark" spell. Thats how it was planned? :D

Think so? Her Buff sprite uses the Phenomenal Delirium FX, as it did for Lucia originally, so that might be what you're referring to?

Most custom heroes are fine-ish to experiment with, but I do have a list of classes to avoid. Avoid Abigail, Earth Enchanter, and Maiden, as they're stupid powerful. Avoid Drowner, she's unstable as hell.

I guess I can recommend... Twilight Knight? She's strong, but not overpoweringly so, and can pull double-duty as tank and stress healer from the front two ranks, allowing more freedom to experiment without being shackled to healer-stresshealer-DPS-tank formation. My vanilla playthrough, I was stuck with exclusively using Vestal-Jester-Highwayman-Crusader/Man-At-Arms, and it was the Twilight Knight that broke me out of that rut.

I really need to update her sound effects at some point 'though. I might try to do her original walk & combat pose concepts justice too as they were potentially going to be quite different to her Leper based current versions (dragging the heavy sword along the floor behind her instead of half swording it or resting it against her shoulder). I should also get around to finishing off her remaining dialogue lines at some point too.

I made a comment on nexus :D I already have town_event pics probably from this thread since you are probably right with there not really being any town_event on nexus...

About the question you asked on Nexus, it is the trick if you know the flow of the modding. You can think the DLC is the big mod, and will apply before any custom mods. So or you can put the mod files to the dlc, then dlc will put them to the main folder, or you can put directly to the main folder (will overdrive the dlc). Of course there is a chance to have a bug but I think my small mod is fine. If you meet any bugs, feel free to reply me >.<

P.s : I remembered that I have a free disease img. I will check again later.
