Would it be possible to have the unique Raider and Gunner bosses throughout the commonwealth be buyers for slaves?  Crime And Punishment allows you to create Raider and Gunner disguises that allow you to roam around those groups without hostility.  It would be awesome if slaves could be sold to the unique bosses spread throughout the Commonwealth as an alternative to traveling to Nuka World or turning Goodneighbor into a human trafficking center.

I've been experimenting with something similar, since I'm probably going to finish Open Season and then won't have anyone to sell to afterwards (I have a mod that conflicts with Auction House).

What I'm trying is to add other vendors to the additional dialogue quest in JB so that they'll buy.  Only trying Trudy at Drumlin Diner to start.  So far I got her to have the dialogue to buy, but then she doesn't actually give me any caps and the slave stays with me.  However, I think I found my mistake.  Just won't have time to test it for a few days as I've got a lot going on IRL.

If it works you could probably add just about anybody as a buyer.  Who knows, maybe Arturo or Trudy have a secret dark past...

Awesome, looking forward to hearing the results!

I have had a problem with two slaves: Ack-Ack just stands there and I can't even talk to her. I tried putting her into the stocks and nothing happens.  Scribe Haylen refuses to get into her stocks as well, tho' at least she's doing the settlement farming. I didn't assign her to that, but I think that's normal.

So finally I had success in getting people in the Commonwealth to buy slaves, and not be limited to Nuka World raider bosses.

First I tried Trudy at the Drumlin Diner and it worked.  Then I set up Connie Abernathy to also buy slaves and that worked too.

Did it by altering the Just Business esp in the Creation Kit.  Now that I know how to do it, it's actually pretty simple, and I took a lot of screenshots of the process.  When I have time I want to put together a tutorial in pdf format and post it on LL, just not sure if I should post it here in this thread where I'm afraid it would get buried, or a separate thread in the forums where it might also get buried/lost, or post it in the mods/files section even though it would only be a tutorial for everyone else to transform whoever they want to slave buyers???

Any thoughts?

That's great news!  A tutorial would be awesome.  At the very least posting it here would be a solid start, and the mod author might be inclined to sticky it or add a link to it on the main page.

OK, here is a first draft of a tutorial in a pdf format.

I know what you're thinking - "holy shit, it's 16 pages long!!!!!"  Not to worry, most of it is pictures, including pictures showing Connie Abernathy buying my slaves to show that it works.

Assuming your Creation Kit is set up properly, it should probably only take you 10-15 minutes to add someone.  If someone tries it, let me know if the instructions were clear enough for you.

Excellent, I'll check this out as soon as soon as possible.  I had a thought about adding it to the Depravity mod in some form or fashion.  Make use of that settlement in the basement possibly.

Update:

So I used the creation kit to add Walter from Walden Pond as a potential buyer.  While wearing a raider disguise from Crime & Punishment I sold him Ack-Ack and everything seemed to go well.  However, as soon as I got the caps and the quest completed all of the raiders in the cell started to attack Ack-Ack.  I'm guessing she's no longer flagged as being a captive, a slave, or may even still be flagged as a player companion.  They did not attack her while she was following me, and the only things I did prior to selling her was telling her she was going to be sold.  She's not automatically hostile towards the other raiders, she'll only defend herself when they attack her.

I resurrected Walter and then sold him a commonwealth captive slave I made and the same results occurred.  It may be a function of the mod, but I noticed the sold slaves disappear when you leave the cell.

I've never noticed that before, but then again, I haven't used Just Business before and I'm not even playing a real game now, just fooling around testing and tweaking stuff while waiting for the new Heather Casdin to drop.  I didn't have any such problems selling to Connie or Trudy.

Now that you've set it up yourself, you've seen we didn't touch any scripts ourselves, so I'm going to guess that there's something in the original scripting of the mod that adds or changes factions, or else maybe some sort of weird interaction with Crime and Punishment?

I don't remember off the top of my head who Walter is, so I'll have to look him up and see if I can try it without CAP.

I went ahead and added Wolfgang to the list and everything worked without any issues.  I have a feeling that JB changes the factions for the slaves you create, since it appears to clone the target when you turn them into a slave.  The raider faction clashes with whatever faction is given to the slaves once they no longer fall under the player's disguised faction.  Walter is one of the four unique raider bosses in the Walden Pond gift shop basement.  I just chose him since it was relatively close to my character at the time.  At the very least we know your method will increase the usefulness of JBs slave selling function exponentially.  Many thanks!

So I checked out FO4Edit after making the changes in the creation kit.  It should be pretty simple to create an override patch that consists of the two quest dialogue topics.  You can copy the formatting used for the mod's original buyers, as well as any added through the creation kit to quickly add additional buyers.  This way if the mod gets updated you can save yourself the hassle of adding all of them over again.

Yes, I think it would be pretty easy to do it that way as well too, now that I looked at it a little.  I made my changes to the original esp just to save myself an esp slot, but maybe a patch could just be flagged as an esl.

I really don't know anything about scripting, but had a glance through the source code for the mod.  You can see in the trade quest script where sold slaves get dumped from the JB slave faction, which then led to the results you had with raiders attacking them.  I couldn't find where or in what script slaves got added to factions when captured, but it's got to be there somewhere.  There has to be some mechanism to keep Nuka World raiders from attacking them after  sale, like adding them to some NW faction on capture.

This is just what happens when we push a mod to do something it wasn't designed for, and that using yet another mod (CAP) to help accomplish I guess.  I'll have to add a warning to my draft.

Just curious, did the raiders at Walden Pond attack you also, or just the sold slaves?

They did not attack me at all as long as I continued to wear the disguise.  Any time you remove it, even when it's unequipped for an AAF animation, you'll become hostile to raiders or gunners depending on the circumstances.  The disguise faction is transferred to any companions or followers currently under your control, they don't need to also be wearing a disguise.  I too am not at all familiar with scripting, so I don't know what is done to the npcs after you sell them.

you might just need to press enslave otherwise Id say there's a mod that changes dialogue that's messing up the options

You need Extended Dialogue Interface, or XDI. It isn't available anymore on nexus mods because the website pissed off the author. But i gots a solution for you if you will accept a private message from me. And how about a "thank you" if that ends up solving your problems?

Anybody have an issue with the Convoy getting stuck?

Shows Up.

I say wait on instruction

Assign slaves to escort

Tell the convoy leader 'go to destination'

And they just hang around.

Tried a reload. Nope. tried moving to a different location then summoning convoy. Still stuck. after 3 steps.

it was working so I don't think it's fundamentally wrong, just a glitch.

ideas?

----

additional info. I think the convoy leader knows she's under way as the only dialog then available is about trading gear.

And I did try a reset. and a reinstall. Then another reset.

Last year I was going to write a tutorial on the convoy system instead of xRCx, so I was testing it out. It could be quite glitchy. I need to test it out again. But one thing I noticed is that a lot of the time if I left them alone and went about my business instead of hovering over them and waiting for them to start walking, they would eventually start leaving toward their destination. At least that's what I think I remember happening back then. I may have even bumped back into the convoy on its way back to the settlement too. So everything might not happen automatically. Let me test it out again and see how it works. Hopefully its just how I explained it is and you dont need to worry.

I went back a couple of saves and found my convoy leader before I summoned them. All dialog is OK there.

next time I trying summoning her I'll see what happens.
