Patch. When to expect.

The patch seems to be ready, now there will be a betatest if there are few mistakes and they are not serious, it will last 2-3 days. Then he will be available for a week to the patrons. In general, I will say the exact release date after the beta test is over.
I ask you to treat with understanding, without the support of patrons, I have no opportunity to work on fashion.

So Hopefully within a week or two we will see the Russian version updated, then we will just have to wait until an English translation is made....

Hopefully that means we'll see a public release around the 4th or 5th.  Also, as previously noted, Dogma will release a machine-translated English version at the same time.

I will also have updated my translated version, which I'll upload here before the public release.  That will be only the .esp and interface files, so without all the new scripts from the actual release it won't work.

Very cool that the Patreon campaign has allowed him to carry on with the mod.

As I think he mentioned in a previous blog post, apparently this update will not have much "new" content and will require a full replay of the mod to actually see it (sound work, "replay" cards ect).  Since the next big update that actually continues the story will *also* require a fresh save file, I personally think I'll hold off and do a full replay of the mod with all the new features once the next story section drops.

So, anyone has the changelog for this patch?

It will include the cards thing?

It currently includes an expansion of the investigation in Riften, as well as the pages of Liorel's book.  There may be one more new scene as well.  In addition, there are some changes to the settings menu that add new options, and there is some new audio.

Thanks! Is this quest for Liorel's book completed? I think he said you would be able to train the positions with him after you collect them. Was that implemented?

Based on the dialog (not there yet in the story) Liorel pays you for every page you bring him, and at some point asks if he can be your sex apprentice.  From then on, if you agree, you can return to him to do the unlocked scenes and he'll pay for each.

Thanks! What about the bad ending in Falkreath prison? Will that still end with ctd?

I don't see any changes to that scene.

What I see so far is a significant expansion to the interactions with Captain Stanius in Riften (I'm still trying to hunt down all of the paths you can take here), all of the new stuff around Liorel and his book, and some changes to the Bannered Mare interactions.  There are a few scattered minor additions, but mostly they are providing dialog shortcuts or moving choices you make from a pop-up message box into dialog.

Ah, my bad then. Does she receive a complete voiceover, or single lines?

There are now about 180 voiced lines, all in Russian, plus a little over 200 new "sound effects" (mostly sex noises).  The last version 0.8.1, only had 2 voiced lines, both marked male.  Some of those 180 lines don't have associated dialog, but even if they all did it still wouldn't come close to voicing all ~4700 lines in the mod.

Happy Friday, folks.  The weekend's almost here, which means release day is just around the corner (that's the 5th, btw).

That also means it's time for me to release my translation.  For my fellow Patrons, all you have to do is install the replacement "Dogma - Thief.esp" and "DogmaEngine_ENGLISH.txt" files, and you're good to go.  For the rest of you, you'll have to wait until the regular release and install that version before you can replace the files.  Your favorite mod manager will handle everything for you.

So, what do you get with my translation?

For starters, intelligible English!  I've modified more than 90% of the over 4800 lines for grammar and clarity.  No more nonsense like "But I with you have not going" or "I want to give John her favorite flowers - Purple Pornosvet".  That shit makes my brain hurt.

Characters!  Different characters now use different vocabularies, accents, and personalities.  Captain Stanius is a slimy politician.  The old man is a dirty foul-mouthed bastard with noble airs.  Bandits and beggars speak in a mix of redneck drawl and cockney.  Zoe is very subtlely evil as fuck.

Lore!  With a few exceptions, characters use less modern and less Earthly words and phrases, and instead use more archaic and more Tamrielic ones instead.  No more swearing to God, Christ, or Hell.  Instead you get specific deities and their specific planes.  But this isn't fucking Chaucer, expect plain English, just with an eldritch flair.

Smut!  Expect much more explicit and specific language.  This is an adult mod.  We can say "fuck" and "shit" instead of "curses" like fucking Snidely Whiplash.  You will be called every synonym for a "dirty slut" the thesaurus has to offer.  This shit would make Shakespeare blush.

But that's not all!  I've also included a file that fixes a number of bugs and annoyances in the base mod.  Including:

No more weird blue face!  Lod has remembered that he needs air to continue to live, and has started breathing again.  His face no longer looks like it's made of blue cottage cheese.  Lod and his fellow jolly rodgerers have also decided on whether or not to shave their foot hair, and now have foot textures that match the rest of their bodies (this applies to Lod, the old man, and the guy at the hot springs).

Lod has also gotten his act together!  Instead of his pants just disappearing during sex, so he ends up looking like a big fat guy who skipped leg day, now he simply undoes the fly like a sensible person.  He and Kust have also decided that you're no threat, and they need not be armed while they mercilessly fuck your questionably willing holes.

Please keep your dick out of my nose!  Some of the alignment issues, particularly fellatio from a prone position, have been reduced.  There are still plenty of places where you get the Brave Sir Robin treatment of a nostril full of cock, but hey, it's something.  To accomplish this, I just set the height and weight of every playable race and sex in the game to 1.00.  If for some reason this creates a problem for you, simply open the "Dogma - Thief Fixes.esp" file in TES5Edit and delete the entire Race branch from it, and it'll be back to normal.

Narri has learned to shut her fucking pie hole!  You know that fucking line that Narri won't fucking shut up about?  "Maybe we should hire Tekla on here..."  Yeah Narri, well maybe I should murder you and stash your corpse in the fucking witch's basement!  Zoe won't mind, she's evil as fuck!  Narri, Valga, Brenuin, Lod, and Mikael have all had the lines that they constantly spew from their incessantly flapping gums removed from the game files.  Now you can actually read what's being said without being interrupted every thirty fucking seconds and I swear to god Narri I will kill you if you say one more goddamned word!  Expect to see this idea extended in later versions, probably beyond the logical conclusion, because those fuckers in Haelga's Bunkhouse are seriously testing my fucking patience.

Now, since I've spent an unconscionable amount of time trying to hunt down every single one of the over a thousand new lines of dialog, let me give a quick explanation of what is and isn't in version 0.8.2, along with a description of all of the bugs and hang-ups I came across and couldn't fix.

Spoiler

Riften

Spoiler

In Riften, the encounter with Captain Stanius has had a major overhaul.  Most notably, you can now convince him to complete the investigation first, before performing a "favor".  This leads to a new set of scenes in Haelga's Bunkhouse, in which you play a minigame to either pass out drunk or make the captain pass out drunk.  Either way results in the quest continuing the following morning.  There is no tutorial for this minigame, but all you have to do is hit the space bar before the little green bar fills up.  Alternatively, you can steal the case report from the safe while Stanius is out of the office, but if he sees you touching the safe too many times he stabs you to death and the quest is failed.

Bugs:

There's no tutorial for the new minigame.

There's a guard who just stands next to Stanius' desk in the jail, staring at the wall like it owes him money.  He has a tendency to fuck up animations.  I recommend you kill him via the console if you see him.  I'll try to delete his reference from the cell at some point.

Stanius has a tendency to repeat himself.  There are certain dialog paths that lead him to end the conversation, and then when you talk to him again he acts like he hasn't seen you in days

Windhelm

Spoiler

Liorel is missing some pages from that book, and he's willing to pay exorbitant sums to get them.  He's also looking for someone to help him practice the things that he reads about.  Many of these practice sessions constitute new mini-minigames, of a sort.  The left-click-slow-down/right-click-speed-up mechanic from the Jarl's bedroom scene makes a reappearance, with most of the scenes having at least three stages to play with.  There's also an extra bonus that you get if you offer to 69 under certain conditions.

Bugs:

Don't try to repeat the Captain Stanius face-fucking scene with Liorel.  Once it ends, the screen fades to black and it never comes back.  You have to Alt-F4 out.

When you're haggling with Liorel over pricing, if you try to increase the price past the point where there's only a 35% chance of him agreeing, you get an unreadable error message.

No matter what the % chance of agreement is, Liorel agrees to pay it.  There is literally no way to get him to refuse to your offer.  You are Don fucking Corleone, and that little elf weasel will pay you upwards of 150 gold for some of the acts.

Hot Springs

Spoiler

Whether or not you give the kid head no longer depends only on your karma value.  It's now a choice you make in dialog.

Whiterun

Spoiler

There's some new stuff you can do with the old man.  If you agree to give him a "down payment" by blowing him, you can get into a situation where you have a mouth full of jizz that you need to spit out.  If you do it in the washbasin in his room, you unlock a new "bad end" scenario.  If you instead do it in the vase at the top of the stairs, things proceed as normal.  The dialog in all of the scenes here has been updated quite a bit.

Bugs:

If you choose to haggle with the old man over the ten coins for finishing him off, your options are to agree to ten coins, agree to ten coins, or tell him you have to leave.  This seems odd to me, but I can't change it without being able to modify the scripts.

None of the guards inside Whiterun can be asked about the thief.  The guards outside, by the gate, respond when you ask them about it, but not the ones inside.  This is probably an oversight involving not adding them to the bd_WhiterunFindStrangerFaction somewhere in the code, but since it's in the code I can't do anything about it.

If you stop at the washbasin on your way out of the old man's room, then decide to not spit in it, you then can't spit in the vase outside the room.  You just have to go back to Hulda with cum all over your face.

In previous versions, your interactions with the beggar outside in the market didn't actually modify your karma value, despite being included in the Skip function and having a global var assigned to it.  I need to check to see if this has been fixed in the latest version.

Falkreath

Spoiler

Not much new here, really, just a lot of dialog being moved around and re-written.  The first scene with Lod has a new stage added to it.  The camera does some interesting things if you fail at Kust's little game.

Bugs:

When you meet with Kust in the tavern for a drink, the ensuing sex scene is way, way out of alignment.  Furthermore, when the scene is supposed to end or transition into the scene with the two farmers, it gets stuck in an infinite loop.  There seems to be no way of getting around this.

When you first proposition Kust, leading up to the candle game, he tells you he wants to see your face.  He continues to insist he needs to see your face until you have removed everything you have on, including the rings on your fingers.  It's kinda weird.  You can be naked from the waist up and he's like "show me your face, don't wanna pay for an ugly whore blah blah blah blah blah..."

General

Spoiler

There's a new setting in the MCM menu that lets you pick your character's breast size among small, medium, and large.  There are a number of places where this is referenced, but it doesn't have any story impact as of yet.

There are over 1000 new lines of dialog.  The majority of these are found in Riften and Windhelm, but almost every scene has been updated in some way.  You're extremely unlikely to notice the changes unless you do a direct comparison between them, but trust me, there are a lot of changes.

There are a few scenes that employ new camera angles to tell their stories.  Lose to Kust for the best example of this.

Voiced lines!  The player now has about 180 lines of spoken dialog.  Out of 4800 total, it doesn't seem like a lot, but she's got something to say in every scene and a few places in between.  It's all in Russian, though.

The horse race has been updated.  It should no longer be possible to fail.

The escape from the collapsing cave has been updated so you have more time.  This is necessary because of another new feature: when you're drunk or recently suffered particularly rough sex, your movement speed is reduced and you can't sprint.  It should still be possible to escape the cave under these conditions.

The mod's handling of the SoS body and genitalia has been updated to be more flexible.  The default settings match those of the previous version.

A few of the deprecated features have been removed.  Most notably, the orgasm effect shader seems to be gone.

Bugs:

The voiced lines don't force subtitles the way that the unvoiced lines do.  This means that unless you speak Russian, you're not going to know what your character is screaming about until you turn on your subtitles.  The only problem with this is that the NPCs won't shut the fuck up and they end up talking over the important stuff.  My "fixes" patch puts a stop to the worst offenders, but it's going to take me a long time to gag all of them.  At some point, I may also go back and make a patch file that replaces all of the screaming in Russian with silence, and/or returns the forced subtitles to those lines.  That's going to be a big chore though, so don't get your hopes up.

The guys are still ambivalent about grooming their pubic hair.  It literally seems to randomly select a texture to apply to them every time they get naked, so if you repeat the same scene you can see hairy-ass Lod with a smooth dick the first time, and with a thick scrotum jungle the second time.  I'm still trying to figure out what's going on here so I can try to fix it.  It bugs me.

Scattered alignment issues.  The vast majority are either things that I fixed by normalizing all of the race scalings, or you can just frame out the dick and pretend it's not happening, but both of the blowjob scenes with the old man are pretty far off.  I have to manually set my player.setscale up to 1.07 for them to even be close.

What's not included

Spoiler

A continuation of the plot.  We won't see that until at least 0.9.0, which is still a long way off.  There's at least one or two more minor version updates happening before a major version update like that.

What happened during those times when you got drunk and passed out.  There are some artifacts in the dialog and other sundries that point toward the being able to recover the memories of what happened while you were too drunk to object (meaning at least during the initial robbery and now the scene with in Haelga's).  Dogma has hinted that both of these and maybe more will eventually get fleshed out, but also that at least one of them will only be available to Patrons.  So if you want to know what happened while you were out, head over to his Patreon and pledge.

That branch where you get married in Falkreath.  That seems to have evaporated.  Hopefully someday in the future we'll see it again.

Final notes:

I'm still working on these things.  I got my preliminary translation completed tonight so I wanted to get it out to everyone so it's ready for the release.  I will almost certainly make some tweaks and put out an updated version either Sunday night or Monday morning, around the time I'd expect to see the official 0.8.2 release.  If that happens, the changes are likely to be very minor compared to this version.

Please, if you see any dialog that doesn't make sense or seems out of place, like Kust crying about how much that dick in his ass hurts, PM me.  If you have the console enabled, you can hit ` at literally any time, Alt-Tab over to a browser window, copy down the exact wording (I.E. "Kust: My poor, ravaged anus!  Alas!  It is sundered!") into a PM and send it to me.  With 4800 lines and like a million possible permutations of the player's battered, spunk-stained journey to the final confrontation, checking every line for context, tone, and meaning is a monumental task.  Seriously, I am convinced that Dogma is secretly like six people.  No one man, no matter how much vodka he chugs, could have the cajones to try to put together a mod this huge.

Tl;dr: Words about words

In answer to some questions that I've been getting:

I do not have a Patreon.  You can not give me money.  Give your money to Dogma.  He's recently been posting updates every other day or so, with news on the status of the mod and when things will be released.  If you pledge $1 a month, you get a link to download the mod a week early.  $5 a month gets you the beta, a few days earlier still.  $10 a month gets you access to the "extended edition" content, which will include bonus scenes.

You can set your account up to donate anonymously, and Patreon debits your account in a single sum totaling your pledges to all the content creators you pledge to.  That means that if you're worried about your wife or whatever finding out that you're supporting Dogma, all you have to do is also pledge to support some other people you like, and you'll have plausible deniability.

Understanding the Karma/Lust system

Spoiler

The "karma" variable in the main quest script (actually named Lust_var in the script text) controls which options are available to you at various points in the story.  You can check your karma score at any time by opening the console [`], and entering "sqv bd_mq" (short for show quest variables, and bd_mq is the editor ID of the main quest).  This will dump all of the variables and active references into the console, and you can use pgup/pgdn to scroll up and down through the list until you see the one marked ::Lust_var.  You may also be able to directly modify the value via the command "setpqv bd_mq Lust_var X" where X is the value you want to set it to.  I haven't tested this, and it may break things if you try it.

The only choices that impact the karma score are the ones that you're asked to make when you use the skip function to jump ahead in the mod.  These are usually big things, like how you resolve major challenges, but in a few cases are more minor, like how much you choose to pay the beggars.  As noted in my last post, it's not always the case that if a choice appears in the skip function that it has an impact on karma, but the case of the Whiterun beggar is almost certainly a bug.

If you want a complete list and the amount of change you experience from each choice, open the mod in TES5Edit and expand the globals.  Every variable with an editor ID beginning with "bd_kar_" corresponds to an individual choice.

So, for instance, the values of bd_kar_HotSprings_lose1, _lose2, and _lose3 are 5, 3, and 5 respectively.  This means that losing the first time (stripping) gets +5 karma, losing the second time (getting fingered) gets +3 more for a total of +8, and losing the third time gets +5 more for a total of +13.

The presence of the variables bd_kar_Riften_bar_stay (1) and bd_kar_Riften_Captain_Bunkhouse_Lose (10) leads me to believe that you get +1 for meeting Stanius upstairs, and another +10 if you fail the minigame.  The fact that these don't show up in the options for the skip function constitutes a bug.  Also worthy of note, if you're going for a maximum karma play-through and not a page-collector play-through is that this path nets you more karma (+11) than blowing the captain and taking the pay (+7).

If you want a complete list of which values are required to unlock each choice, open the mod in TES5Edit and check the other globals.  Most of them have EDIDs beginning with "bd_req_" but that's not always the case.

So, for instance, if you wanted to know how high your karma needs to be before you can agree to become Liorel's sex therapist, you can just check the value of the variable hp_req_Liorel_Accept_Training and see that you need at least 30 karma.  If you then do some quick math, you discover that if you meet Captain Stanius in Haelga's (+1), fail the drinking minigame (+10), allow Liorel to perform cunilingus on you (+2), try the 69 with him (+3), then go to the hot springs and lose all three times (+5, +3, +5), you still can't unlock it before you get to Whiterun.  You will, however, have enough that if you sleep with the old man, you get the horny dialogs (bd_req_Whiterun_Oldman_SexHorny = 20) instead of the reluctant dialogs.

Is there any way to leave suggestions for Dogma in english?

Google translate does a decent job - people have just left English and Russian versions of comments in this thread before.  You could probably also always post in his blog comments.

Dogma checks this forum pretty regularly.  Send him a PM in simple English and he'll get it.  You can also post on his blog, on the gamesource.ru thread, or on Patreon.  It's really easy to get in touch with him, in fact.
