Getting overpowered by her results in the quest failing. i could come up with many ideas on hot to not have it fail, so the player could progress from this point.
But then again: i don't know what the author has planed that he decided that this branch is a dead end. But what i know, is that it would lead to many ways/branches, which are a pain in the ass to develop, especially if you're a 1 man crew.

 

But remembering what Shydra said as she left, there's still a chance to get involved somehow ... or maybe not. Who knows. ^^

I wonder how the branches are going to play out...if it will or if it even should.

 

From a story perspective the branching idea sounds interesting.

The two dead ends are fine as a true failed quest. As a complete mod it would just be failing the quest mid way different from what we are going through right now as waiting for next chapter.

 

What is worrying however is if these decisions are going to matter or how they will play out. For Tusam he only survives in one outcome. Shydra lives through all of them. Right now there's already a link between chapter 0 to chapter 1 with the mushroom also is the family going to play a role if they stay behind or not. Again is the bad end going to be a real end or will it be another trigger?

If all these things matters there are going to be a lot of branches that could get out of control quickly depending on (if) there will be another layer of branches added on by the next chapter.

Athstai does not need to keep the branches like a classical tree, rather like a net, where different branches are leading to the same fixpoint again.

 

e.G. as you said, Shydra lives through all endings... and in all endings, she is free and generally pissed at the player. Even her submissive behaviour in two of the "good" endings could easily wear off given a few weeks of time. So if the player would meet either Shydra or Tursam again in Chapter 2, then they could both (one of them is always dead) be interested in enslaving the player during the main course of the chapter... and only for a few smaller decisions, they could react differently, depending on the ending of chapter 1, ranging from totally pissed "you ordered me executed!!!" to "hey, you kept your word and set me free... I still like to see you as a slave, but will now set you free, so we are even!".

 

I personally hope that the slaver will make a reappearance, but I am also very sure, that I will enjoy chapter 2 even if we never hear of Shyndra and Tursam again.

Tursam has only a small chance to survive, while Shydra has only a few to fail.
So i'm sure Athstai will reuse them at one point or another, or all the time spend building those characters and their personality would have gone to waste.

 

Even if Tursam is getting killed in his Bonus scene, i'm sure he'll have a re-appearance later thru the cube. :D

But as subrina said: No matter what Athstai will come up with, i'll for sure enjoy it.

So I tried it. Only mods I have that aren't required are UNP, UNP armors + DLC, and Coverwomen. But I'm not getting any animations. When I try to break Shydra, she just stands there while talking, and when Daev rubs one out to me, he just stands there as well when suddenly BOOM face and tits covered in cum. Do you guys know what might be wrong with my game?

So I tried it. Only mods I have that aren't required are UNP, UNP armors + DLC, and Coverwomen. But I'm not getting any animations. When I try to break Shydra, she just stands there while talking, and when Daev rubs one out to me, he just stands there as well when suddenly BOOM face and tits covered in cum. Do you guys know what might be wrong with my game?

Nothing wrong with your game, its your ability to read and follow instructions that seems to have fallen short. Though to be honest the instruction you missed has been missed by so many people it's got to be the single most common mistake in Skyrim modding.

 

You didn't run the FNIS User Generator program after installing a mod containing animations (Dark Investigations) and so the animations don't play.

 

Two symptoms you need to be looking out for in the future, animations don't play and/or the character that should be animating stands in a frozen t-pose, those mean you forgot to run the FNIS program again.

 

Remember that you must run it after ADDING or REMOVING a mod that contains animations.

So after installing, running FNIS and checking out (more or less) most of the animations I noticed the ones done by Athstai does not work for me (the mentioned "frozen in t-shape"), all others seem to work fine. Weird.

 

Nevermind, reinstalled it (with some trouble >.>), run the whole quest again and they work. But I still have no idea why they didn't before. And I don't like not knowing <smokes a pipe and put on a funny hat>

Hard to tell but most likely cause is that you had an error when you ran FNIS the first time so it didn't add the animations but when you installed it again and ran FNIS after that install it was a clean run. Just guessing but it fits the symptoms.

I run FNIS three times before reinstalling - without any errors. Oh well, I guess we will never know (but personally I blame this new "Mod Organizer" thingy I'm trying out. No real reason).

great mod! every little thing that happens is scripted so I do understand that it takes the author a great deal of time to put it together.. but it works so well it leaves you speechless... best adult mod ever as a wholesome experience. But as always things can get better.. anims match up perfectly, but they could be more dynamic as in SL's stage progression, but this one has scripted get yourself into position anims, like the get on all fours with the bandits something that SL lacks. Still I played all that and the only thing i got was 2 cumshots and giving an oral... and on the other branch the cumshot, seeing a dog getting on with the prisoner and maybe the bandits... too much of a tease IMO... those 3 guys at the Theater were funny as hell. The author could have made it so that each day you can re-view the movie and they'd show up again each time with another trick until they score for real i guess. Great job!

The mod works fine for me till the moment i enter the inn, i get a CTD then, doesnt matter which char/race i use...

Any idea, why ?

Things to End
 
As most of you noticed the last time plan didn't work quite out. Like at all. So thinking about the future of Dark Investigations bought me to the following conclusions. In the next few weeks I'll finally get the update to 0.28 out which includes new voices for chapter one as well as one new bonus scene with our beloved heroine. Those are things that I already started and the voice actors already sent me, so it's time to wrap this up and release it.

 

Afterward, the mod will end for the time being. Chapter 2 is a huge time investment to create it in the same high quality as the current content and unfortunately it's more time than I am currently motivated to spend on this tale. Given that chapter 1 is completely finished with the next update, it seems to be a good point to make a cut there. Perwar might go unpunished this time, but at least some bandits, theater visitors, guards and guard dogs had a good time during the Dragonborn's investigation.

 

I guess that was a bit of a good news / bad news post. But stay tuned for 0.28 and the final opportunity for our heroine to get into trouble smile.png

So it ends.

Has that whole, Firefly thing going on "This is amazi... what do you mean it's got cancelled?"

 

Anyway, are there any walk throughs?

 

AFAIK I have done every option and seen every bonus cut scene but a comment from Athstai on his blog makes me thing I missed something

"bandits, theater visitors, guards and guard dogs"

 

Bandits I took to mean the Orcs, guards are involved in two outcomes and guard dog in one but theatre visitors?

I missed something?

It's been a while since I played through this, but I seem to remember that there's a theatre somewhere in Riften that you can visit for a bonus scene, depending on the ending you got.

Bandits probably means:

 

Shydra truth potion path, drink the potion yourself

 

Theater:

 

Tusam path, service him yourself, then let him go. Talk to any inn keeper for rumors or go to Black Briar meadery downstairs.

 

Guard and Guard dog:

 

Shydra truth potion path, talk to nearby guard or the guard dog then bring one of them to Shydra

If you let the slaver guy go free after you had sex with him in front of his Dwemer recording device then you can get the theater scene in Riften (check the Black Briar Meadery) and then the scene with the spectators from that movie showing.

 

There is also a scene showing how come he no longer has that recording device.

Ok, where the f do I find the crying mushroom? I am all for a challenge, but the quest doesn't give the slightest hint and I searched everywhere for it. 
I searched the whole topic and everyone talking about the fertiliser, but not how to actually find it/make it grow/whatever.

EDIT: it strange how something that seemed complicated is actually so simple....I figured it out a minute after I posted a comment.
You know, why would you grow a mushroom in the middle of nowhere where you could have just planted it right after you left the farm. FFS. And this was my last result before abandoning the mod (because a bug prevents me from trying out the other options). 

If anyone is wondering*, you need to plant the mushroom on the farm. I tried to plant it right next to the old lady's hut.

good quest mods

That was a lot of good content for simply a prologue, hope to see more in the future, I can't seem to find that many good quest mods for skyrim.

 

try legacy of the dragonborn. it is a huge quest mod of its own. plus a quest hub for dozens of mods if you use everything supported by it better than 200 hr playing time. all modded. check it out
