At long last more of our dear Emma! I have the feeling of waiting the next chapter of a beloved manga and every chapter, it gets even better. But please don't take my compliment as an hurry up to make more, always take your time and do what you want. Just want to express my delight in reading your stories and admiring your screenshots, after all, they inspire a lot my private game stories.

Keep the great work!

Result of my experiments with the Reshade.

These are picks taken from Skyrim SE, right? I kinda want to try it out since the images are so much sharper than Oldrim, but I'm afraid of the time it will take to set up everything...

Not to mention my own made mods. I would have to convert them too, right? Oh boy.

Sorry to ask, but how long did it took for you, more or less, to set up everything?

What do you mean by sharper?

Surely, any "sharpness" is the result of screen resolution + texture resolution, which has nothing to do with the renderer, unless the render intentionally blurs?

In most cases any blurring is a configuration option, and again, nothing to do with what version of Skyrim you have.

Some blurring is purposeful, as in when depth-of-field and fake-bokeh is used to make characters pop out of the out-of-focus background.

In uploads, the post processing, down-sizing, and compression are going to determine sharpness. i.e. my own post is heavily JPEG'd and half-sized (strictly quarter-sized) because the full-resolution version is overkill when most people will only see it in the little preview.

In most cases, due to superior function of ENB in oldrim vs SSE, you usually get better visuals there than in SSE.

You won't see the difference so much just looking at characters. The advantages come because the ENB knows more about what the objects its rendering are (walls, stones, grass, or whatever) and can handle them specially based on what they are.

SSE+Reshade is a viable alternative, probably better than SSE+ENB, but the shots I see from SSE+Reshade seem to favor shiny materials over realism or nuance, because the shiny stuff "pops". Not to suggest that you can't get nice skin with it, as clearly you can.

I don't think SSE+Reshade is better looking than LE+ENB, it's more a question of how you want it to look when making that comparison - it's highly subjective.

When you see shots you like, it reflects more on the skill and effort put in by the creator than the underlying technology. They may have set their game up specially for screenshotting. They may have carefully lit, posed and composed that image, then put in more effort post-processing it. If you see more people doing that in SSE than LE now it's probably got something to do with it being practically impossible to even buy a copy of LE now.

In contrast, I just took a regular screenshot from my game that was sort of half-decent-looking/funny, down-sized  it and exported from Affinity at 50% quality JPEG. It's not going to look great.

Trying to replicate somebody else's look will definitely take time, but SSE+Reshade doesn't make that any easier. You could do the same thing in LE+ENB.

Even when people publish guides to create a set-up, most people can't replicate it, because there are so many variables, some of which are outside the computer.

If you already have a massively modded LE setup, that's going to be a better starting point than starting over in SSE. However, if you don't have much in LE, then transferring to SSE is easier. The main reason to go SSE now is slightly better stability, certainly not looks.

I see. Thanks for indulging me! I'm usually never really satisfied with the way my pics look, so I guess it doesn't hurt to at least give a quick test.

I kinda need to sort it out my selfmade mods as well though. I have a bunch of junk incomplete mash-up sets, so if I like the results, might as well make the transition.

It's Earth Warden outfit with some parts from Nisetanaka's bikini collection.

I think the most difficult part is setting up the graphics. I've lost my old SE build last autumn because my SSD burned out, so I started over this January.
