So this is not a Cinematic walk or anything. This is a straight up "I can't be fucked to walk all the way to Kynesgrove myself so I'll just autofollow Delphine." mod. Then you can alt-tab out back to your pron or whatever it is that was more interesting than that.

It will give you a new spell called "Follow That Thing" as a lesser power. You target something, your character follows it until you press your JUMP key. When you first start following someone, they may/will get a little bit aways from you (typically 1000 units, roughly 50 feet, roughly 15 metres) before your character decides to catch up.

Issues.

It has a few issues that there is nothing I can really do about. Follower AI seems to be really shit if there is too much of an incline like mountains or steps. You may notice sometimes your character will stop and have to re-figure out where the target it is following went. This can manifest as three behaviours:

  • your character actually runs back a bit to get itself back on path, then run back to who it is following.
  • or it will stop, then start again, then stop again, then start again.
  • or it will for some reason walk really really really really slow until it is able to figure out how to run.

I've tuned the Follow procedure the best I could to try and smooth out these glitches, but it is out of my hands now I think, because I have seen the exact same problems in other mods that take control of your character, and none have found a solution for truly smooth follow. In all these cases it should never truely lose who it is following and eventually be able to catch back up to them. So you will see problems like this in areas like around Haemar's Shame where it is super steep and rocky, and if following an NPC up the steps to Dragons Reach and the like.

Great idea.. thanks.

If you are looking for ideas, I have been looking for a similar mod that would add a shout or spell to tell a targeted NPC to come closer ('Hey you.. come over here!' ).

Another spell along those lines would be a spell or a dialogue topic to ask someone to help you temporarily... sort of a temporary hireling that would expire after a few hours ('Please Mr town guard... can you help me out with these bandits down the road?').

Nice! Interesting idea, it would help out, my fingers won't get so tired pressing the damn keys all the time.

Heh... now all I need is a mod that automatically engages AI controls for the PC when in combat, then another one that automatically tries to complete quests, and I can turn the whole interactive experience of the game into a straight-up movie.

I think that Apocalypse Magic has a couple of spells like that. At least, I know it has a couple of spells that work to teleport NPCs around, and I'm pretty sure it has a spell that will convert an NPC (enemies only, I think?) into temporary followers.

Despite its flaws, this mod is something I've wanted a looooong time! Something to make your character walk around like an NPC while you can take in the scenery or just get some amazing screenshots.

It would be amazing if it could be developed so you can create routes for your character or pick existing ones for them to walk on, and even more awesome is if they fought things like an NPC. I don't think there's a mod like that around, that lets you still be in "control" of your character and exit the auto-pilot at any moment.

Nexus has been silent because a moderator has put a block on comments for some reason.

Is there any way that I can make the follow distance a little closer? If I try to follow a NPC that will stop after a few steps when I'm not close enough then the follow spell doesn't work. Thanks in advance

if you know how to edit the esp you can change the distance for the dcc_follow_PackageFollow package. the reason i set the distance to what it is is for the opposite problem, npcs will often stop to say hello or some random shit if you get too close.

Hello, I just want to ask about the armour the girl wears in the screenshots. Is it available for download somewhere?

Looks like Dragon Bone Armor.

This little mod allows me to do something I wanted to do for ages but could never get working, and no other player follower mod I tried would allow.

With this mod, I can follow an actor, then control them with TC, and control the actor in front of me rather than myself.

I can also use Immersive FP's project feature to effectively play an NPC and have my player follow along happily.

Very happy with this mod.

nice application!

at one point i wanted to make a mod where you could remote control followers like that, full out party kinda like system kinda like kotor or something. problem was though all you do is transfer control and camera, spellbook and such is still bound to the player.

Still didn't get much attention, but recently i had to think about it just to learn that it doesn't work the way i hoped for, soooo hopefully little request?

The change i'd like to have is making it work with a race power instead of a spell, just like the SGO III menu. That way i can still use it when my hands are in an armbinder/yoke. Then summon Vilja the same way, tell her to lead the way to <city> et violà: at least i don't have to run those errands tied up like a mafia corpse in a carpet on my own and just enjoy the view instead. :)
