Guest Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Still won't trade my privacy for 1 FPS gain. Could you please elaborate? I am still on the fence the only reason I am even considering is because the piece of shits known as Metro and Charms Bar are gone.

Guest Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 WOOOW.... And I was worried that I would have limited user settings, advertisement or Bing shoved up my asshole.
DarkQuelaag Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I'm on Windows 10, I actually quite like it. I think I gained quite a bit of performance, my games and applications are running smoother. Unfortunately some software still doesn't work or install on 10, like Rhinoceros 3D. I also love that the scaling issue is gone for higher res screens ( well it seems to be gone)You can deactivate the telemetry, weather it deactivates it all I'm not sure. But following the articles I think I have.
bjornk Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 You cannot disable Windows updates on Home editions. That's one good reason for me to avoid it. With Windows 10, you basically hand over your computer to Microsoft and tell them that they can do whatever they want with it. Google Chrome has given me enough headaches behaving in a similar way, I don't want my OS do that as well. Some people don't care about that, as they have been using their smartphones the same way pretty happily, but I do.
RuikoTwo Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I guess i will be sticking to my Win7 for a while longer by the looks of it
SquallPT Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Before the paranoid and tinfoil-everywhere-because-they-are-watching-us people destroy this thread Its totally different from what you know from windows 7 or 8.1 read it you can now safely do a EASY CLEAN INSTALL. http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-quietly-rewrites-its-activation-rules-for-windows-10/ For easy ISO go here. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Thanks for the info
Cynical Misanthrope Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I will stick to my W7 as long as I possible can.
BaeleDrae Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Same as RuikoTwo here ... Gotta love how much of a throttle neck Big Corporations have over the Governments.
bjornk Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/08/even-when-told-not-to-windows-10-just-cant-stop-talking-to-microsoft/ Windows 10 is nothing but a massive spyware.
afa Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Still phones in, but nothing of value is sent base on the article. OS connected to the internet and MS server isn't surprising in this day and age. W7 will run out eventually, and I highly doubt waiting it out will be a good solution, I don't see how the next iteration will be any better.
...0... Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Still on windows 8.1(metro/charmbar?Have no problem with it perma desktop and charm i never see if i don't go mouse bottom edge right screen in practise i never see charm ever). Privacy reason(and i have done so much research on this believe me i know a lot now) is reason why i am not switch to windows 10 yet, i just don't trust M$hit. I know windows 8.1 also privacy problems but comepare to windows 10 it's super safe hehe. As long no real DX12 implications in games and no real gain windows 8.1 compare to windows 10 is maybe 1-2fps gain DX11. Still need alot more research and have time see what M$hit do with next updates maybe secretly tighten it's grip on your personal info and behavior that all send to data centre of M$hit. Windows 10 is worse privacy violations to date when it comes to windows OS(Google/Facebook even worse(don't use chrome it's worse then M$ edge). Most you can disable but but M$ still collection even when you think you have disable all plus be aware of updates that just put privacy settings to DEFAULT again. But believe what you want or aloud, it's up to you if it's worth to up grade or not(always a catch when a money hungry power company offers something for free remember that). All nonsens, future will tell All who say when go on internet you gave up your privacy so it don't matter, are just paid fans of MONEY GRABBING POWER HUNGRY BASTARDS
...0... Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Windows 7 spews just as much info as Windows 10. Example. Screenshots I had months ago on Windows 7, before I got the Insider previews, the first preview was installed on a clean drive, had a drive go south so I had gotten a new one. Installed the preview and each of the builds since but never set up OneDrive. So now I'm on a new again Clean install of the actual Windows 10 release. Two days ago I set up OneDrive. made a directory to use just for Onedrive,(You have to make a directory specifically for sharing with OneDrive) clean as a whistle so I thought. I look at it yesterday and I now have screenshots I haven't had since my original HDD went south, it never had windows 10 on it. and I never shared any of my personal screenshots, their not on my Photobucket account. But yet they turn up on OneDrive so you tell me, Windows 7 is safe from snooping? at least with Windows 10 it's clear before hand what's being retrieved. Not that it matters much I have nothing to hide but having that option is no longer an option unless you go completely device-less. Sorry but you clearly have M$ registered account also have registered on other sides plus when you go regist key you can disable most which then will NEVER be shared ever. One drive plus cortana are two off the worse privacy violations of M$hit if you care about your privacy? Local account and no register anywhere plus in your own privacy settings(go deep in your OS system(disable register keys) will not share anything period). Majority of those accounts if its bucket or one drive or others all connected when registered. As long not registered anywhere plus not under your own name you won't find anything you do on the internet only thing that could be floating around is if goverment, internet provider or bank or job related spreading your info or selling or being hacked you can't control that but for most part you can. If you care about privacy don't mean you have to hide something all say you do are the sheeps who have there whole life floating around on the internet and lost already now trying your lost also there evil Who am i..that's private
...0... Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Install also firewall that out going traffic monitort and block next files: - C:\Windows\System32\CompatTelRunner.exe - C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy\SearchUI.exe - C:\Windows\System32\consent.exe - C:\Windows\System32\invagent.dll - C:\Windows\System32\SIHClient.exe - C:\Windows\System32\SppExtComObj.Exe - C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_2015.7.1.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\WinStore.Mobile.exe - C:\Windows\System32\taskhostw.exe - C:\Windows\System32\appraiser.dll - C:\Windows\System32\dasHost.exe Also win10 pro you can in group policy even block more. Around 67 million now on wondows 10 4% but Dutch are at forefront with 7.8% but there dumb sheep if it's free and hip they buy or install it(i'm Dutch so i can be racist agains my own kind [ ] ) This is windows 10 so far installed in netherlands(sheeps )
...0... Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Your missing the point about sheep thing. And for the register MS account you can only install windows is false, you have two options you make a ms account or don't, if not you can complete anonymously install windows as local account without register anything. Terms of agreement yes that don't mean you have to accept anything thay want you still can disable Legally a lot in windows so the M$ spyware don't spy on you that much as when you do nothing and if you want to accept all M$hit shove up your throat thats your choice. It's up to you what to do, no problem for me i just show how it is today with M$hitamd it's privacy policy. Because i use windows for gaming don't mean i accept every thing they want me to do luckly many options for that you take it or leave it nobody force you. That's a cliché thinking linux is the salvation which is not. Good luck with windows 10

Definitely not upgrading now!
Kaz Aanh Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Le wut.. Definitely not upgrading now! Honestly I see no reason to update to windows 10. If windows7/8.1 works fine.
Chaos63 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 God, it sounds worse and worse the more I hear about it. I hope to god no games require win10 to run.
Captain Cobra Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Who installs a new windows OS right out of the gate?
afa Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Consider the number of people that were willing to use the beta and in the fast ring....lots?
Darkening Demise Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 So I reserved my copy to screw myself over? Dammit! Oh well with all the @#%$ed up things I do and places I go Microsoft would probably stop collecting information on me anyways! Will stick with W7 until a better version of it comes out, which I doubt. Seems we only keep getting Vista and ME.
bjornk Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Many people jumped on the preview version quite happily, despite the fact that it was officially equipped with a *keylogger* and they were all aware of it. If you are such a shee..., I mean, person, I see no reason for not to upgrade. You'll live quite happily with your personalized ads and such.
Guest Xz0mb13killaX Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 i wish i had DVD i could use. i am so fucking sick of vista 32bit
