Oh and you are in your wayback machine, several of your 60s era songs you posted, I don't remember.    My early memories (from the 70s) were decidedly country in nature because the only radio we (my brother and I) had was in the car (until about 77).

Yes. I saw the giant 80's styles in person as well. What I meant by B-52's style was deliberate exaggeratation of an earlier style as in the video  Private Idaho

 

The Romantics video hair is so over-the-top (a 60's pompadour so big it becomes a bouffant) that it seems like a deliberate choice.

 

Also, early 70's country memories. My mom only played stuff like Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, Don Williams. I think country used to have a much bigger range of artists. Such as ...
